I just received the Ares Socket Adapter Set and it is as advertised ... complete with detent balls to secure the sockets.
I mention this because I ordered two sets and only one set had the detent balls. Both sets were in identical packaging.
I returned the set that was not as advertised.

Sooo ... bottom line ... if you order the set and it does not look like the picture with the detent balls ... you did not necessariily make a mistake with the order. It is likely the sent an older version of the tool set. You should return it and order it again.
I can't speak for durability as I haven't really used them yet ... but they look good and fit a drill motor. Sooo ... 5 stars.

Does exactly what it should at a great price. Very helpful to remove or tighten a large number of bolts/nuts after you've started or loosened them. Of course the final torque may have to be done by hand depending on your driver and bolt.

Recently I put together some shelving above my garage. The first half of the job was moving pretty slow until I got these. I wish I would have got them before I started. The finish has rubbed off a little in a couple places, but I'm not too concerned about that. They're still working great for me. Plus, I got mine for $6.99 for the 3 piece set which is a great deal.

These 3" Impact Grade Socket Adapter/Extension Set bits seem well made and perform as expected. I bought them for the 1/2" adapter so that I could use my cordless drill or driver to adjust a homemade router lift up/down at faster speeds than with a hand ratchet (a hand ratchet works great for micro adjustments but is too slow if I just want to drop the router quickly out of the way below the table). I have not tested these in an impact wrench, so I cannot attest to their durability in that application, but by all appearances they should hold up fine. The fit both in the collet of my driver and in the heads of my sockets is quite good--snug and secure as it should be, not too loose or too tight.

One quibble: Mine showed up completely loose in the box. They are packaged in clamshell packaging, but mine arrived with the clamshell separated and loose in the box. I'm not sure why. However, they were undamaged, so it's not too big of a deal. Just something I thought I should mention.

[UPDATE 8-20-2016: I've been using these for over a month now--especially the 1/2" adapter--and they're working great. Not a hint of wear and tear, so I think they were a great buy. I had deducted one star because of the loose packaging when they arrived, but given that they're doing what they're supposed to do and holding up well, I've increased the rating up to five stars. I like them and am very satisfied for the price.]

I have already found a use for these. You know how it is once you have loosen a nut but it has a long way to go in order to be completely off? Well these little tools help a lot by letting the reversible drill do the work.

I used these today ... Actually working with each size. I was building rails for my wife's yard cart. They are a wonderful addition to the tool bench. Enough can't be said for the fact that they replace the need for an extension and run true at low and all high speed settings. Rugged and well built. The finish should hold up for a lifetime and each socket was securely attached and held fast as would be expected. Amazing quality & value at this price.

I purchased this set primarily to quickly drive various size lag bolts. All work great and are a real time saver. Clearly beats ratcheting. I was considering buying air impact wrench set until I found these on Amazon. Adapter set exceeded my expectations.
