Let me first say, I'm a car care fanatic. I had to replace my old Black and Decker 12V Vac that I first received as a gift with my first car 13 years ago.
This Armor All Vac is fantastic in every way. High quality construction, nice storage bag, super easy to use and clean, plus it has a cool narrow/long attachment for hard to get areas (between and under seats). To clean, top pops off, you have a filter you can remove, plus an internal catch basin to dump debris. I just finished using it for the first time, it did an excellent job. The catch basin and filter had alot of dirt in them, and the car wasn't all that dirty. As with all 12V vacs, the power is pretty low, so you do have to go over the area a few times, since it doesnt have the power of the huge gas station vacs. However, I would absolutely recommend. Very happy with my purchase. The interior actually looks detailed. You can't beat the convenience of having your own car vac, its a definite buy. TIP: In the instruction manual, it says NOT to run your engine when using the vac. It claims it will decrease the life of the vac, assuming from too much power. Personally Ive vaccumed both ways, with engine on and off. Doesnt really seem to make a difference either way. To use with engine off, just plug it in with the engine off, and turn your key to the accessory ON position. Your car's battery will not be affected by using the vac with engine off for a half hour.

As an avid hiker and an... avid apartment dweller, my car has a way of accumulating dirt, as well as being inconveniently parked for vacuum access. Prior to this purchase, my options were to drag my old Hoover and a hundred feet of extension cord out my front door to my car, or drive to a gas station and feed quarters in a machine every week as I frantically suck up all the old mud and pine needles before it shuts off. Neither of these were ideal, so I bought something that would work. This handheld vacuum is exactly what I need, as it provides the right amount of suction and plugs into my car outlet. The power is not industrial-strength, but it's much more than expected for something not that much bigger than a flashlight. The included accessories are also very useful, as is the ability to suck up a spilled drink or pooled rain water that came in the crack when a friend neglected to roll the window all the way up. When I bring a weekend's worth of dirt and debris back into my car, this vacuum picks it up without issue. It makes my worries of Sunday-night cleaning go away, which is good, because I don't like to clean on Sunday night, a.k.a. Netflix night.

I like this little vacuum quite a bit. It's got decent cleaning power, a nifty LED that kicks on whenever you fire it up so that you can see what you're doing in dark crevices, thoughtful attachments that're well engineered (including a brush attachment that can be used to work stuck on stuff out so the vacuum can pick it up), and a cool integrated crevice tool that also doubles as added suction by focusing the power of the motor on a smaller area. As an added bonus, you can also pick up liquid with this vacuum. That's great because it means you can use liquid cleaners on carpets, for instance, to clean out any deeply stuck on dirt, then vacuum it up.

I picked it up today after the parking lot in front of my apartment was frustratingly full, so tossing the 100' extension cord over the balcony and running the full sized vacuum down to clean out the cars wasn't an option. I decided it wasn't really worth the effort anyway - most of what ends up in our cars is loose dirt, and would be easily cleaned up by something less powerful and dramatically less effort to haul down the stairs.

So, in comes the ArmorAll Wet/Dry 12v Vacuum Cleaner. Is it as powerful as a full-sized vacuum cleaner? No. It also weighs a heck of a lot less and doesn't require an external power source. Is it as powerful as a 20v lithium battery hand vacuum? No. It also weighs a heck of a lot less, is about 1/3rd of the price, doesn't require charging, and doesn't die before the job is done because the battery ran down. Well, unless your car needs a new battery. If that's the case, you've got bigger problems than your car vacuum not functioning. Speaking of new batteries, this vacuum also won't turn into a useless brick like a battery powered hand vacuum will once the battery wears out.

A lot of the complaints about this vacuum are about suction power. It's got excellent suction power...for a $20 12v vacuum cleaner, which is what it is. It's got more than enough power to pick up loose dirt. The key word there is loose. This thing's not going to pull out dirt or fibers that're deeply worked into the floor mats. That's what carpet and upholstery brushes are for - loosening that stuff so that little vacuums like this can clean them up. Is it more work? Yes, marginally, and you'd have to do it for a full sized vacuum half the time, too. However, I'll take running a brush over my floor mats over unraveling a 100' extension cord, tossing it over my balcony, lugging my vacuum cleaner down two flights of stairs, STILL needing to use a brush to get the truly worked in dirt out of the floor mats, lugging it back up two flights of stairs, dragging the extension cord back up two flights of stairs, rolling it back up, and sticking it all back in the closet.

If you search for how to vacuum a car when you live in an apartment on YouTube you'll find an excellent video in which the creator explains the process of cleaning a car quickly and easily with a portable vacuum. It's all about doing it the way professional detailers do it - with brushes to reposition, loosen, and concentrate dirt to make it easier to clean up. It's very helpful for those of us that don't have easy access to a full sized vacuum, or lack the desire to break it out on a regular basis.

If you've got a shop vac in your garage, don't bother with this vacuum. However, if you don't have a garage in which to keep a shop vac, this thing is awesome and convenient. I'd recommend it to anyone that's looking to keep their car interior clean but wants to minimize the amount of effort involved. Yes, you may need to break out a brush from time to time, but I'd rather do that than break out a full sized vacuum and an extension cord.

If you are looking for a vacuum to use for regular routine cleaning of your car, this will get the job done. However if your car hasn't been cleaned in several months, and is filthy with mud or lots of dirt dried into the carpets, don't expect this vacuum to be able to easily handle that kind of mess... that is not what this vac is for! For huge messes you need a heavy duty wet dry vac... and those types of vacs don't plug into cigarette lighters. The point of this vac is for routine cleaning, to prevent your car from becoming that filthy in the first place. Since it uses cigarette lighter power you can keep it in the trunk and it will always be ready to go for you. No need to worry about plugging into a wall outlet or charging batteries.

I use it roughly once a week and it takes about 1 minute to clean up all the dust and dirt. The suction is fine for that type of job. I usually use the piece that flips over the front because it seems to make the suction a little bit better than when it is not flipped on... perhaps people complaining about suction may not have realized this also.

Great little vacuum. Was hesitant on ordering it after reading some of the reviews. But after reading reviews on how great the suction was and reviews on how bad the suction was, I decided I best try it out myself. This vacuum does have very good suction. Now let's put it in perspective. If your trying to pick up months worth of debris, then no, this vacuum is not going to do it. I'm sure no small hand vac would do it. You would need a regular vacuum or a commercial vacuum like at the car washes. But, if your using it to just maintain your cars interior and pick up normal stuff, this vacuum is very much up to the task. The built in crevice tool is fantastic and easy to use. Just flip and push in and your good to go. The brush tool (attached to the underside of the unit) works great too. The LED light is great for seeing debris under the seats. The vacuum is easy to clean, is solidly built and is a great value for the price. Add to it that you can use it to pick up small spills and it's really a great value! Again, as with any tool, you need the right tool depending on the task at hand. You would not use a jewelers screwdriver to work on your car, so you wouldn't use a small hand vac to clean up heavy debris from your cars carpets. If you use this vacuum for what it's intended for - maintaining your cars interior - this vacuum will do it.

Super handy to keep in the trunk of the car for quick clean up. I use it probably once a week just to keep things tidy. The suction isn't the best so if you have pet hair or deep pressed dirt you'll need something stronger but for general maintenance on the car appearance, this is good enough for me.

Does exactly what I need. I needed something portable this has good suction but can run on car battery (or internal batteries) and this unit does a good job. As good as 110Volt Electric? No - but for 12 volt unit it's very good.

I have a gravel driveway and despite the fact that my shoes have smooth tread and I am a small woman who wears a size five shoe, I seem to track all manner of dirt, grass and stones into my car. This baby easily vacuumed everything up--with and without the crevice; attachment, which is built in--very handy! I truly do not understand these people who say it only works on cars that are already clean. They must have buckets of dirt in their cars!

Love this lil vacuum. Its no dyson (which I love btw), but its just enough to keep my car show room clean in between car washes. It has a long cord and a nice storage bag. I keep it in the trunk, and whip it out any time I notice my carpets (or seats) have dirt/debris on them.

I rec'd the vac today and tried it out. Pretty powerful picking up small stones and gritty sand. Not noisy at least quieter than my house vacuum which I am relieved I didn't have to carry it from the house to the detached garage.

I have tried other vacs and this one exceeded my expectations. I am happy it is also a wet/dry machine.
The collection bag is a bit tiny and near to full it does effect suction. Overall however suction was consistent and effective.

I find the carry bag to be a bonus so that I can carry the vac in the trunk. Haven't used the detail attachment.

The cord is flexible and long enough to reach the back seats and floor.

So far so good. After all it's a car vacuum not a 12 amp vacuum. thank you for a great product

With their close set, needle-like teeth they're also difficult to sharpen - and I've sharpened regular saws using saw sets and files. Each of those new hand-held pruning saws have cost us $20 to $25!
