I use these for Gunsmithing and holding rifle barrels. They are a little on the soft side but don't mark things up like aluminum jaws. Rubber jaws are OK but don't have a tubular groove for barrels and the pads disintigrate after awhile. The magnets on these are good also. They don't bleed color like others I have tried also. They serve their purpose and grab hold. i have had glue on polymer hard pads that let things slip through and don't grab as well. I bought 2 sets and will buy some more. Everyone who sees them likes them. They are more of an Orange Tangerine color in real life and not yellow like the picture which doesn't matter to me.

This is not an Amazon verified purchase because I got mine at my local Lowes for $8.68. So check out your local store before paying $15.
These jaws are just what the doctor ordered! To make sure my objects are not scratched, I used to wrap them with cloth, rubber, etc. This is making my job much easier!! And because the objects I work with are round, it would spin free from my vise and get all scratched up because I used to be afraid of putting too much pressure on them. These jaws solved so many issues for me! I now can apply a lot of pressure without worrying about it marring. And Its rubber traction and cut-outs prevent round objects from spinning. My vise is only 3" wide, this thing is 6" so it looks kind of weird if your vise is not exactly 6". I think you can actually just cut to size. But I'm not going to do that. The different grooves and cut-outs are useful for different tasks and I can slide the jaws and line it up to what I want to use. So the fact that it's magnetic, makes it perfect. Because if it uses adhesion then I wouldn't be able to slide it up and down.
Terrific!!

I have had other protective jaws that had weak magnets that did not hold. These hold tight, and do not fall off while I am opening the vise. They go on and off quickly and can be moved with one hand from one vise to another.

I purchased these to put on my 3" vice. I took the magnets out and redrilled the backs with a 3/8 forstner bit and positioned them closer and a bit higher to align better with my vise. Then I cut the ends off to match my vise. Now they fit perfect and stay put. They're great for holding flat stock but you really have to crank down on them to hold round stock, but it's handy to use them to tap small pieces as the piece will turn in the vise when you've hit the bottom of the hole and helps save breaking smaller taps like the ones I use…4-40 and 6-32.

These work just as described, magnets are just the right strength to sit on the vice jaws but still allow you to move them around easily. The pre cut holes come in handy too, really glad they molded them in. They do not have bump-stop ends so make sure you get them in the jaws correctly. I have a vice with 4in jaws so there's about 2in of excess material but thats not really a problem for me, and if I ever upgrade to a larger vice in the future these jaws will fit it. These are a must for anyone looking to do any sort of gunsmithing, which is why I bought them. They will also come in handy if you want to chuck anything up into the vice that you don't want to mar up. Only real downside I can see about these is that when your using them, you lose about 1/2in of your total jaw opening distance, just something to keep in mind. The picture is a little misleading; the ones I received are more orange than yellow in color, but that doesn't matter to me one bit. Other than that these are great!

I had the Wilton version of these and they always fell off the vise and left yellow marks on things. The Bessey ones have nice, strong magnets so they don't fall off, and the color doesn't rub off on my work. Very happy.

First time used, two days ago. So glad I purchased these vise pads. Used them to hold several jumbo sized knives while I put a new edge on them. Not even a hint of a scratch and they held true w/o a sign of uneven pressure. Held by 2 magnets each, these liners were exactly what was required to safely, yet firmly hold each blade, which meant I could focus on cutting profiles w/ both hands. In the past, I held the knives, one at a time, w/ one hand, resting the back of the blade on my knee while profiling the blade w/ the other hand. Until now, that was by best worst option. Not very safe and not very effective because no matter how steady I tried, invariably I would rock the profiler. But now: Ta-daaaa! I have much better profiles! Yaaa! And I've much less of a chance of getting cut in the process. Yaaaa! Originally I planned to use these for holdin slide uppers w/ parallel sides. The intent was to steady while moving rear sites. Haven't gotten around to that yet, but sure are great for holding knife blades. Thanks Bessey, whoever you are. :). Nice vise liners.

I was expecting these to deform under heaving clamp pressure. They do, but it is minor and has no effect on subsequent work.
To be fair, in most applications there is no deformation. I encountered a minor amount in one of the rounds in which I placed a 3/4" threaded object and I clamped hard - very hard. If you look hard enough you can see thread depressions.
These jaws hold most work well and do a great job on delicate items. The magnets make it easy to slide the jaws left, right or remove. I have done some heavy clamping on the sharp edges of sheet metal and it worked great with no scaring of the jaws.
The bad: they do take a fair bit of the vise's opening. I have a 4" vise and there are objects that will not fit with the Bessey jaws in, but will when they are removed.
If someone wants to know the reduction amount, write a question in a comment and I will go to the garage and do the measurements.
It is a good product.

I have been using these on my 4" Craftsman vise for barrel assembly and disassembly of my AR-15's. It hasn't marked up any of my guns as of yet and it holds everything securely. Great product that does what it was designed for, imagine that.
