I somewhat agree with the guy from Vegas that this is a waste of money, EXCEPT that this is about the only way to get extra spools for your Black & Decker weed whacker. Note that you can buy a spool of 600 feet of .065 line from Amazon (Desert Extrusion brand, price is $8.80 for 600 feet in March 2007). Then, with the bulk line, plus these 3 spools, plus the spool that came with the weed whacker you can have up to 4 spools ready to rock and roll at minimal cost. Unlike the guy from Vegas, it takes me more than 2 minutes to hand-wind a spool, but not a lot longer, it's pretty easy to do, my main advice being I find it better to not try and wind more than 25 feet onto a spool even though it presumably can hold 30 feet of line. Everytime I wind more than 25 feet I get a lot of jams until the line gets those extra few feet chewed off. Hope this helps.

Found this 3 pack at Amazon and was thrilled! Locally at the big box stores, I pay 8 dollars for one spool. And yes, I have wound my own for less cost but a lot more frustration. I found this to be a good value for me.

At the time I purchased these replacement spools the official Amazon description listed only GrassHog NST2018 as compatible model. I can confirm that it works with the new GrassHog NST2118 Black & Decker NST2118 12-Inch 18-Volt Ni-Cd Cordless Electric GrassHog String Trimmer/Edger.
The automatic feed spool on GrassHog advances the string without needing to bump on the ground. The benefit of this system is that cutting is easier as it constantly replaces worn out string, the down side that the usage of the string is faster than when done manually.
I have tried wounding the string by hand and found it a bit cumbersome and a bit time consuming, so I figured less than $5 per spool is not to bad to save me 5 minutes of time wounding and dealing with jammed string. Each spool contains 30 feet of 0.065 inch diameter round line. It is factory spooled and is wound tighter than when I wound the spool by hand.
To replace the spool:
1. Remove battery
2. Squeeze the tabs on the spool cap to release it
3. Pull the empty spool out by pulling directly away from the housing
4. Clean out the housing from debris
5. Make sure that the level that controls the spooling is aligned with the edge of the housing
6. Take a string from the new spool and feed it through the eyelet in the housing of the trimmer
(note the string is tucked into a hole in the spool for shipping, when you install it you need to free
that end from the hole on the spool and feed it into the hole in the trimmer housing)
7. Push the spool into the housing and rotate it until it feels seated and the tabs of the spool align with the holes in the housing
8. Put the cap back on
9. The string outside the housing should be 5 3/8 inches, if it is longer than this length use scissors to trim it
Collage of two different views of the spools in this package attached under customer photos.
Overall, I am pleased with the spools - they should take me through the next couple of summers!

I've started winding my own spools now. These are very convenient, but you really pay a hefty price for that convenience. I'm buying bulk string now and use my drill motor to wind it onto the empty spools.
Update: July 2016
I just purchased this product below and the cord is tougher than the Black & Decker cord, plus it is a lot less expensive in the long run. (Pun intended.) I used the drill motor trick using a fairly large diameter drill bit and duck tape to wrap around the drill bit to adjust the diameter until it was a snug fit to the spool. But I still needed my wife as an assistant so I could thread the cord in close incremental spacing and layer by layer. This works best if you have several spools to do all at once.
If you only have one spool, there's setup time to consider. So now I often wind it by hand and it doesn't take long at all. You need to keep from twisting the cord when winding it. And do not wrap the spool randomly or loose or things will get knotted up inside and you'll have to take it apart to get it untwisted. Be sure to save your old spools. My next plan is to wind up a spool and then purposely uncoil it to determine the length I need. Then I will measure it and cut the cord before starting to wind it. That way it will be a lot easier to manage.

Amazon had it cheaper and in stock where local stores didn't have it. I would check Amazon first in the future.

The best price per B&D-branded spool that I found, these are a good fit on my B&D LST420 .
Note that the reseller I purchased from shipped in different packaging than pictured (still had B&D on the plastic) and the line was red instead of white. Not sure what that means, but it fits and works just fine.
Best to buy these spools in bulk; 2 and 3-packs are notably better priced than single spools. I noticed some reviewers write about winding their own spools, but in my opinion that's very time consuming and you'll spend a lot of time stopping and clearing jams. Not optimal unless you have a lot of yard, extra time, and are tight on funds. For those of us with small yards and less time to spare, this 3-pack is Recommended.

This product really makes it easy to replace the line on your B&D trimmer. Just replaced a roll this morning and ordered another 3 pack. Takes about a minute to change the roll out. Sure, it would be a lot cheaper to roll yourself with bulk string--but for the cost--this is the way to go for me. I've done the do-it-yourself route with other trimmers and it is a pain getting the line on the roll just right. So I'll continue to take the easy route with this product.

After watching 9 hours of my little pony, I'm a little exhausted and dizzy from all the strobe effects, which makes it really hard to wind cord into a spool. With these you just snap it in and not one snag. Last long enough to where you forgot when you put the last one on, which is really all you can ask for in an AF-100-3ZP these days.

After manually threading the line on my old trimmer, buying these spools pre-loaded with line is really nice. I'm sure I'm spending extra for these instead of buying a big spool of line and manually threading, but what the heck. I'm worth it!

I broke down and bought a set of these, they work fantastic I was just being cheap trying to rewind spools on my own after they were empty with aftermarket weed line, well most of the time the winds get caught up or don't flow correctly which results in me having to mess with it over and over to keep the line feeding out correctly.
I am finally done with that, and although I didn't want to spend the money on these now I am done and set probably for the 2016 yard season, I use my B&D trimmer for both edging and trimming I may take one empty spool as a backup but I think I am ready to just toss that replacement line and buy 3 packs of this when they go on sale on amazon, life is honestly just too short and I am too busy to try and save $3-4 rewinding a spool that never works right LOL
My dad rest his soul would disagree, but then again I remember him doing the same thing out there messing constantly with the spools he wound, these don't have that problem they are wound well and feed great till they are gone, I only wish the materials were stronger so they would last longer but once a year in spring I will buy at least a 3 pack when they go on sale from now on and just enjoy more time with the family vs messing with the dumb spools trying to rewind them :)
