I have found this tool to be well constructed and of high quality, especially considering the price. (I bought mine at Walmart for $8.88.) It comes with two bits (slot and Phillips). The head can be locked, allowing the tool to be used as an ordinary screwdriver. This is handy if the batteries die or the motor doesn't have enough torque for the job at hand. Because it uses alkaline batteries, you can leave it in the drawer for months without worrying about the batteries discharging, as rechargables often do. I occasionally need to unscrew 1.5" deck screws to remove a plywood lid from plywood boxes. I then replace the screws. Recently I was able to remove and replace 34 of these screws on one set of AA alkaline batteries. That gives a feel for how long the batteries last. For smaller screws or softer material, I imagine the batteries would last much longer.

It's been almost 3 months and so far i am happy with this screwdriver even though i use it occassionally. I use it for all small home jobs like where assembling/disassembling is required like aquarium lamp cover, electronics, wall sockets etc. and it fit everything that i tried to accomplish.

The speed is fine for me and although screwdriver's bit holder seems slightly askew to me, it still does its job perfectly. But when i try to put it on lock and turn, i feel friction which kind of defeats the lock's purpose but the workaround is just using regular screwdriver to tighten or release screws.

I like that it is cordless and to me, the fact that it is battery operated has no tangible disadvantage because every time i finish job i pull battery storage compartment with batteries to prevent corrosion and possible quick discharge as Black & Decker service representative recommended.

I would sure recommend this screwdriver to home DIY'ers, electricians and computer technicians.

I bought this screwdriver based on the reviews and also because I needed to install 49 pull handles in our kitchen. I had a battery operated Sears Screwdriver but the rechargeable battery was dead and it would have cost far more to buy a new battery. I like that this tool uses AA batteries as I don't use a screwdriver all that much and rechargables don't make sense. Bottom line - I took out 49 pull handles (2 screws each) and installed 49 and the batteries are still good. I think this has plenty of torque for light jobs such as this. I even was able to use a small drill successfully. Well made tool and well worth it for the price.

Great for the price. There is no speed setting and it spins fairly slowly. Works for basic screwdriver needs, but don't expect to build and empire with this. Black and Decker has a $20 battery drill for that.

Update: After owning both this and Black and Decker's budget cordless drill I keep finding myself using the drill over this. Pictures added.

A nice little battery driver..Even at 6v does not have as much torque as even the 3.6v drivers.

A big plus is the fact it uses regular AAs..I have a set of sanyo eneloops I wasn't using so it worked out perfect.

It comes with a flat head/philips bit and four alkaline batteries.

For ~ $10 pick one up..Nice to keep in the kitchen drawer

I really like this light weight cordless screwdriver. It runs on batteries. You don't have to have a battery pack charged ahead of time. You can just change the batteries ! It even comes with the batteries. It is so simple to use, one button to screw in, one button to screw out. It comes with two screw bits, one flat and one Philips. I am putting together my own tool kit and what tool kit would not be complete with out a cordless screw driver ? Also you can use all other kinds of bits with this. I choose Black and Decker because it is a name I trust.

My husband has a Black-decker drill and driver kit. However unlike a big driller/driver I wanted a simple tool to use in my kitchen for tightening my cookware screws and other simple household work - this screw driver is perfect for that.

For $8 this is definitely an awesome buy. It is easy to use, easy to store, easy to switch to manual screw driving and helps me to get the simple jobs done without the help of my husband.

My husband says it is not of super quality like other Black-Deckers, however it is handy and safe to use by everyone.It has been a month and so far I have been using it at least once a day and it works perfectly.

To make a long story short, this is a handy device which comes with two screwheads and 4 batteries.Unlike manual screwdrivers, it is a breeze to both screw and unscrew.

Overall, Loved it!!!

Worked really well , we bought it to use for simple toys and putting up baby locks and gates and it's held up pretty great! It has pretty good torque for being small , and is great to have around for emergency or any little projects .pretty good size to as in the pics comparison .
