I needed a basic drill. All I needed to do was drill a hole in the wall. I went to the hardware store, and this one was recommended to me. It is perfect! It is a basic, affordable drill that plugs into the wall. The screwdriver bit fits in the handle. It is powerful and easy to use. I purchased a separate drill bit package, that was also by Black and Decker, because this drill doesn't come with one.
Inserting the drill bits into the drill is really easy. I was able to figure out this drill, without instructions, as mine didn't come with them. I didn't purchase this on Amazon. I had purchased a cabinet that needed to be screwed into the wall, into a stud, so I needed a drill ASAP. I purchased mine at Lowes, however, the price is the same on Amazon.
If you are looking for a basic drill, then this is the perfect one!

It's a cheap, yet efficient power drill that can easily handle all the tasks one would find in a typical household. Being that it's corded, you don't have to worry about charging it ever, so when you don't find yourself using it for months at a time, when you need it, it'll be ready.
I have no complaints. Buy it if you need a simple power drill.

Gave up on the rechargeables - could have easily bought 2 of these for the price of one new battery. And really, for most of us who use these around the house, the only feature I really had to have from the rechargeable was the keyless chuck. If you have to use one all the time, daily and professionally, stick with your high-end rechargeables. But if you find yourself just using one a few times a year, stick with the cord. Its 5 amps never run out and it's actually as light if not lighter than the rechargeables.

Nice, basic, inexpensive and does not require recharging. Keyless chuck, reverse, variable speed, plenty of torque but no torque adjust. Good cord strain relief and light weight. Case is slender enough for most tight places. Long life is expected.

Drill is excellent for around the house routine tasks.

For this price you would think it is junk, which it is in a way, but it is more than adequate for all non-commercial home use. The chuck is the weak link, I've seen it loosen itself a few times, and it is just a twist tension chuck. Don't expect to use large bits in boring hardwood, or thick steel, as the chuck will likely loose and lodge itself in the material.

It's loud but it wasn't expensive so that's no surprise. My cordless screw drivers are always dead when I need them and that's why I bought this. It's ready when I am. Sometimes we just need a corded tool to get the job done without having to wait for a battery to charge.

Good price. I do not like cordless drills because when I have a project I do not want my tools to stop working or be re-charged.
MY WIFE SAYS CORDED TOOLS WAY TO GO: Plug it in and it will be ready for entire project.
GIFT IDEA:
One year ago -- My wife and I, renewed our wedding vows after 35 happy years
- she took me out to see what arrived from Amazon and said to me with a big smile,
" Look (pointing at the drill) one year renew wedding vows gift ===> Power tools".
Now that is a keeper!
GOOD THINGS ABOUT THE DRILL: Nice long cord (6' long). Unit is not too heavy. No charging and recharging.

I like it very much.
Good price, I shopped around (Lowes/Home D) and this was a good deal.

This has plenty of power; it is reversible and variable speed. Great feel in the hand.
For infrequent or light use this seems to make much more sense than a tool with a battery pack. Batteries are heavy and they make the tool feel awkward (JMO-YMMV). The lower priced cordless models are going to be lacking in power.

My wife and I needed to hang a few more weighty items on the walls of our apartment. We don't own very many tools and where apprehensive about purchasing a drill in lieu of borrowing one. For the price we felt we could justify the purchase, even if we only used it occasionally. I was expecting a drill of lower quality, much like you would find for sub $10 at a place like Harbor Freight. We where surprised at how sturdy it was built and how well it functioned.

- Made with quality materials. The parts that come into contact with your hand are made of a softer plastic, much like that found on a ballpoint pen with a grip, but of higher quality. I honestly believe I could use the butt end as a hammer given how strong the plastic is, but I of course don't recommend this.
- Very ergonomic, with reasonable reach to the Forward/reverse slider and Lock-on button, all with one handed use.
- The chuck is easily adjusted and prevents over-tightening to the bit.
- Comes with a Phillips/Flathead bit that will fit most common screws. There is a place to store the provided bit at the bottom of the handle
- Very granular control of the variable speed switch, without this feature I would not have purchased this drill. Sometimes you need to start out slow when drilling in a screw, otherwise you may set a screw sideways, etc.
- The Lock-on button allows you to set the drill to a specific speed without pressing the switch. This feature is especially useful for situations such as buffing out scratches on a car or using a small sanding attachment.
- Anti fray housing where the cord meets the drill, there is nothing worse than having to ditch a drill or repair it yourself because of a now exposed and dangerous power cable
- 2 Year Warranty with a 30 day money-back guarantee
- Minimal packaging - Comes in a single box with the drill and a small and concise multi-lingual manual, no oversized box or messy cardboard padding.

- Like most drills, this has an open grill/air vent that cools the electric motor. I don't feel comfortable using this outside during inclement weather given that I can see the components inside. For normal use, this should not even be a concern.
- The drill bit stored in the holder at the bottom of the handle can poke your hand if held a certain way. If this is an issue, you can move the Flathead over to the left a bit and bear the less sharp Phillips tip, or you can remove the bit entirely.(just don't loose it)
- The drill is a bit heavy for one handed use and does not benefit from the weight of a battery pack to displace how top-heavy it is.
In short, if you are looking for an inexpensive general purpose drill that is of quality, I would invest in this drill.
