The drill has a quality feel to it. Not Lexus-quality, but Toyota-quality. My earlier, lower-quality drill has quite a bit of wobble and play in it. That gets magnified if you use a long attachment. That meant many times the drill jumped-out of the #2 screws I mostly worked on, or it damaged the screws a bit by the time I was done. This drill is built to much tighter tolerance and it seems to jump-out of the screws a lot less. Also I see less (but still some) metal residue on the bit after turning a screw.
Lots of torque
Excellent speed control. You can turn a screw at exactly the speed you want. This is very helpful in avoiding over-torquing and having the bit jump out of the screw.
I do small projects around the house, so still on my first charge
Nice weight. Not too heavy.
*** Cons:
No strong negatives. I looked at much much more expensive drills and wished for some extra features, so sharing that just FYI:
1] Many drills have LEDs that spotlight your work area. This one didn't.
2] Built-in horizontal and vertical level would have been nice, though I never used the ones in my earlier drill.
3] I much prefer drill/drivers because their stubby snouts make them much more handy to maneuver into tight spots. This drill has a traditional profile. Now add a longish bit to get into a tight spot and you've got something that's nearly a foot long!
4] Top-of-the line drill/drivers costing 3-5 times more, are brushless. That means much longer battery life and no carbon brushes to wear-out. If you're willing to pay extra for quality, it might be an idea to look at brushless drill/drivers as well. I could have bought one of those myself, but in the end felt my very light use didn't justify such an expensive tool.

Every product offers a balance of price/performance. This drill is excellent for its price.

What a pleasure it is to use B&D's 20-volt lithium-ion drill after being used to much more expensive, less powerful bottom-heavy NiCad drills from the top brands. Highly recommended!
The 20-volt max battery is shared across B&D's new line of DIY and lawn and garden tools. The charge lasts all day when used in the drill but is a bit short on staying power for the string trimmers, hedge trimmers, and chain saws (though those are still a bargain once one has a few of the batteries on hand). Also new to the B&D 20-volt Max family are the Matrix tools where drills, saws, sanders, and more can be powered by a single motorized body.
It should be noted that this system requires an overnight charge (7 hours). (A fast charger
Black & Decker L2AFCBST Lithium Ion Fast Charger with Flash Charge may be purchased separately). The battery is so light that I'm hoping that B&D comes out with a bigger one with a bit more staying power for their lawn and garden tools (more on that below).
*Update 12-16-13* The drill can now be purchased as a bundle with the fast charger Black & Decker LDX220SBFC 20-Volt MAX Lithium-Ion Drill/Driver with Fast Charger which would be well worth it for those who don't have multiple batteries and chargers, like I do, accumulated from buying multiple tools (see below).
I have a pair of these drills, both purchased well over a year ago and they are still among my favorite tools. Having the pair allows me to multitask without changing bits. I also have a few of the yard tools that use the same batteries and can recommend them with some reservations.
The string trimmer Black & Decker LST220 12-Inch 20-Volt Lithium-Ion Cordless GrassHog Trimmer/Edger is a good compromise of power and convenience: not quite as powerful as standard gas or corded trimmers - it won't cut woody weeds such as goldenrod - but is still more than powerful enough to trim and edge grass. It's great for cleaning up the edge of the driveway and tidying areas that the mower missed. Unfortunately, it uses enough juice that you'll need two or three charged batteries for a session. Each charge lasts about ten minutes.
The hedge trimmer Black and Decker LHT2220 22-Inch 20-Volt Lithium Ion Cordless Hedge Trimmer,Includes 20v Battery also works well. I have the pole-mounted version Black & Decker LPHT120 18-Inch 20-Volt Lithium-Ion Cordless Pole Hedge Trimmer which allows me to trim tall shrubs and hanging tree branches up to 1/3 inches in diameter. It has an adjustable joint at the base of the blade that assures the perfect blade angle. This is especially important for shaping large hedges, and for overhead branches. It also allows me to use it as a scythe at ground level, to cut tough weeds like golden rod that the string trimmer can't get.
The "chain saw" Black and Decker LCS120 20-Volt Lithium Ion Cordless Chain Saw,Includes 20v Battery is a very nice hand tool for limbing and trimming, or around the campfire, where it will cut 3" logs into convenient lengths without fuss or muss. The pole-mounted version Black and Decker LPP120 20-Volt Lithium Ion Cordless Pole Saw,Includes 20v Battery is nice for cutting high branches or the trunks of smaller pesky thorn bushes and trees such as barberry, locust and prickly ash from a safe distance.
I wish it had a an adjustable angle joint near the saw like the pole trimmer does. There is also a lopper-style chainsaw Black and Decker LLP120B Bare Max Lithium Ion Alligator Lopper Saw, 20-Volt,Without Battery that is highly reviewed (as was its 18 volt NiCad cousin). I haven't tried it. (Other brands have more powerful higher voltage - battery powered chain saws that are worth considering if you aren't married to the B&D battery system).
Lastly, it should be noted that these tools appear to be ported over from the 18 volt NiCad system without much change. Balance of the drills is much improved by the lighter lithium battery but garden tools which were well balanced before are now a bit heavy on the business end. Black & Decker could have easily fixed this (and improved the dreadfully short run time) by bundling the garden tools with a battery twice the size(doubling weight, capacity, and run-time but not power). They have, in fact produced exactly that battery but it is not currently available on Amazon nor can I find it on Black and Decker's web site. Perhaps this review may help encourage B&D to release this useful battery.

So far, this drill hasn't had to be recharged after it's initial charge. I haven't used it much, but at least it's holding a charge. It's also lighter weight than my old NICad version and it has more torque settings to get the exact precision for a screw. By ordering it from Amazon, I got the 30 piece accessory kit with it. It's a great drill at a great price.

I am not a contractor, but this item has performed perfectly for me as a homeowner with a long "honey do" list to attend to. I have an assortment of the B & D 20-volt tools and this one performs as good or better than all the others. Battery life usually outlasts my own stamina but we have multiples that can be swapped out in a snap. Unit is more powerful than you might think. Was able to put about 200 screws through backboards into my sub-flooring during project to lay ceramic tile in our kitchen/dining room.

So far I've used this drill for some light demo work, organizer/ furniture assembly, and hanging pictures. I've had absolutely no issues with everyday household tasks and I love all of the attachments it comes with!

So let me start off by saying that this isnt the best drill out there. It's smaller than the utility drills, its not as "powerful" as the most expensive drill out there. However, if you're just using this drill for household projects - it is AMAZING for the price. Oh my goodness.
I like to do little projects here and there: building my own bed frame, mounting things on the wall, making my own cat tree - and this drill has been through it all with ease. I bought this drill months ago, I've been using it sporadically for about 4 major projects and a few minor uses here and there... I have not had to recharge the battery once! What?! That is incredible.
I don't often leave five star reviews, but the battery life is just killing me. I'm so impressed. I decided, after MONTHS of use, to charge it today just in case (but actually, it has lost zero power in the drill as most drills do when the battery is low.) Color me impressed.

I bought this for my hubby last Christmas and he LOVES It! The drill itself is compact in size and so is the battery. The battery is small in size and gets a full charge pretty quick. Have been using for basic household chores, putting up curtains, hooks, etc. and putting together furniture. Has been fantastic for all of that, the charge lasts a long time and power has never been a problem. The bits that come with the drill have also been all I needed for the basic chores and seem to be of decent quality.

Outstanding value in a cordless drill. This was a "deal of the day" right before Christmas so I bought one for myself and my daughter who just moved in her first house. It comes with all the basic bits and drills one might need for basic home maintenance / repair. The battery life is outstanding and I found it to have all the power I need. For home owner quality...I don't see how you could do better for the price. Very pleased.

Love this drill. Hubby and I fight to use it. The battery charges quickly and stays charged a long time and it's lightweight enough that even a lady like me can comfortably hold it. Now, if it only came in PINK. :-)
