I bought this head torch a few weeks ago and it has proved to be good value for money. I was looking for a versatile light, and it has been very functional in a number of different use cases.
I have taken it on icy/snowy pre-dawn runs in the mountains, cross-country skiing around the local park, for close-up detail work and for bedtime reading. As someone who likes to let my eyes adjust and use as little light in addition to the available ambient light, I particularly like the dimmer feature. The range of light that the torch emits has been plenty in all cases and I see no reason why it wouldn't work well for more serious ski-touring and easier mountaineering in the dark. And, as an early bird who normally goes to bed a lot earlier than me, my wife appreciates the fact that the lowest lumens setting provides plenty of light for my night-time reading, thereby minimizing the disruption to her sleep.
The headband has a wide range of adjustment - my 7-year-old, who is always wanting to illuminate our lives, has successful adjusted the band for her comfort and the largest setting would accommodate a ski or climbing helmet.
I only have one minor gripe about the torch - it was difficult to figure out the single-button functionality and initially we didn't realize there were instructions attached to the headband. Those instructions were on the small side for my aging eyesight. Apparently, these issues have been resolved on the later models that are now available.
All in all, I have been very satisfied with the overall functionality and value-for-money, and have happily just invested in another lamp for all the other uses that the rest of my family will undoubtedly find for it.

I've had this headlamp for over a month now and can honestly say this is a great and well designed light. I do HVAC work and carry lots of tool so I need my hands as free as possible when working. I really like how east it is to turn it on one handed. I used to have an energizer headlamp and I had to press kind of hard on my head to turn it on but this one is light to the touch. I like how you can adjust the light intensity to your exact liking (dimmer) not just two or three settings but you can fine tune the intensity. I like how you can turn the red light on and off without cycling through the white lights I can see how that can could keep you out of trouble in certain situations (good design ). The head strap feels tough but weighs hardly anything you'll see what I mean if you get one. Also the headband design makes it almost effortless to tighten the strap, the others I've had could be aggravating and I even broke the strap support bracket on one fumbling with it trying to get it right. From the packaging to the design to functionality to the follow up customer service I am very impressed with this company. If this thing lasts me at least 1 year I will buy more.

I would like to apologize to the seller for taking so long to get my review in! I have had a lot of stuff going on in my personal life, but I am back in the game again!
First of all, I will start by saying that I am very happy with how quickly I received the Bright LED Headlamp Flashlight and Case for Running, Camping, Kids - Lifetime Warranty - White, Red, Strobe Lights with Dimmer. Light & Waterproof IPX4 with Energizer AAA Batteries. It arrived exactly in the amount of time it said when I ordered. though Amazon prime does a great job with shipping, I have found that that depends on how fast the sellers get their products ready for shipment, so kudos for staying on top of your orders!
I am pleasantly surprised with this headlamp. I have had about 5 other head lamps in the past, as we are a family of campers, hikers, and fishers. The straps are soft and easily adjustable. They also are able to be tightened to fit snug yet does not have any painful pressure points. The great part is that light is actually very bright, like a tactical flashlight (but does not reach as far, of course). You are able to change the brightness, and it is SUPER bright at its brightest. We went camping this last weekend and we used it while grilling our chicken and hot links in the dark. Having the ability to SEE and use both hands was invaluable!! PRETTY AWESOME. I cannot wait to take it fishing!!
Disclaimer: I received this product at a promotional price for reviewing purposes. Even though I received this item at a discounted rate, this is truly my honest opinion of the product, after trying it for myself.
If my review has helped you in your decision to purchase this product, please click “yes”! I appreciate it. Thank you :)

I've been using this in the mornings, long before sun up, for about a week. The two brightnesses/focal-points are nice as, depending on the weather, I like to go as dimly as possible so I can still see out of my periphery. There is definitely plenty of light for trail and wash running.
The head band was easily adjusted and hasn't moved or fallen off once while trail running. I adjusted the angle of the light to point at the ground in front of me so I don't break my arse and it has not moved from that adjustment.
Also, if I ever encountered a car, they would definitely see me with this on perhaps even from the back given how much light it casts in front of me.
I haven't had a use for the red or blinking modes.

This thing is really excellent. You do have to take a second to read the instructions and realize how to use it, but once you figure it out, it's the best headlamp ever. Settings include a super bright flood setting for distance, and then a dimmer but still very bright setting with different LEDs for closer use. Both of these settings can be dimmed down to practically nothing, so it's very easy to keep it set at a very low setting, which is generally bright enough for use around the campsite, won't blind people, etc. But when you need brightness, you can go to the full setting and it's very, very bright. Then it also has a red LED setting, for "night vision," as well as a strobe function, which would be good in an emergency. Very easy to adjust the headband, and to install batteries. All in all, the best head lamp we have, and it's not that expensive. A no-brainer, would purchase again, and probably will get one for my wife to replace her funky old one.

I was thinking about getting a headlamp to free up my hands. There was a special offer on this one and I ordered it. It arrived extremely fast and well packaged.
My 12 year old asked to open it up. She had it out of the box and reading the directions in a few minutes. The only problem she encountered was getting the battery compartment open. I liked the fact that it came with batteries too. She did not want to force anything. Part of the plastic protector that came with the packaging was still attached and made it hard for her to open. I just pulled that loose and it opened right up. She went through the directions and then had to show me what all it did. It has the main white light or you can turn on the 2 outer smaller lights for less light. Like reading. Then there is a strobe feature. You can also turn on that red light or make it strobe as well, if I am remembering correctly. I personally do not have a need for a strobe but some may.
I have only used it once so far but it worked well while I was working on something.

Good to go. I looked for the lumens in the product description but it was not there. I found it on another person's recommendation before purchasing this headlamp. 70-lumens. I know one thing, it is very bright and I do like the dimmer feature. Plus is has a separate pair of LED's for lower and wider angle light use. The red flashing should be easy to see in an emergency too. The strap was very easy to adjust and I was able to quickly get to work under a house in a crawl space. I like it a lot!
I caught a good sale on this headlamp. After adding a item to make the $35 free shipping on amazon.com, I entered my discount code. I ended up paying $19.98 for this light.

We have several headlamps that we find indispensable on wilderness walks, camping and wherever light is needed. The Northbound Train is definitely THE BEST of the lot. Standard AAA batteries, various light modes (including RED night vision saver) with STROBE capabilities. The fact that it is lightweight and compact is a huge advantage when wearing it for hours at a time. It is very comfortable to wear, and much less likely to become lost or misplaced as it is where it is supposed to be...on your head. The output is variable, but it is one of the brightest headlamps in existence. A great item that we highly recommend.

I purchased this light based on the reviews here, and the price. I purchased a Black Diamond Storm (over twice the price of this light!) for my wife several years ago, and just couldn't justify the price to get one for myself. I stumbled across this light while combing Amazon for an alternative. I am not a hardcore hiker, camper, etc. but I do use this light on an almost daily basis, reading to my children at bedtime. It works great, and I really like the dimming feature. Cycling through the different modes takes a little getting used to, but you cannot beat it for the price. It is comfortable, lightweight, and very bright at its high setting.
Others grumble about the battery compartment lacking instructions and the thin feeling plastic. Hello! This was under $20 when I purchased it, and even less at the time of this review! If you want something that will withstand a the strike of a meteor, or with a holographic video showing you how to use the device, you'll have to fork over the $$$. I admit, it took me about 45 seconds to figure out how to open the battery compartment, more than it may have taken for another device. I don't think a matter of seconds deserves knocking off a star on this fine light. It wasn't hard to figure out. The case does feel thin, but I have not had any issues with it since I picked it up several weeks ago (LOVE the nearby pickup option, thanks Amazon!). If you plan on head-butting a rock while wearing this device, it is probably not for you. In other words, it is likely to break if you try to break it. Simply wearing it on your head and using it to light your way to avoid objects that will impact your noggin (and by extension the light), you should be fine.
I have yet to put it through any tough situations, or test its water resistance, but I will update the review as needed.

Excellent headlamp for cross country skiing. The single center LED seems to work better for fast skate skiing, as it illuminates the trail quite well at 20-30 feet in front of you. If you're going slower or uphill a lot, use the double LED setting as it gives you a wider field of view at close range. You do get a bit of haloing with the double LED setting, but it isn't a deal breaker. The single LED definitely has less halo.
The lamp itself is quite durable, as I had the misfortune of testing firsthand. I was skiing on some trails with poor conditions about a week after I got it, and hit a rough icy spot going down a hill. Took a pretty good fall, bruised both my knees and smacked my head on the ground. The lamp took the full force of the head impact. Not a single scratch or crack on the body or lens of the lamp (it also stayed illuminated during the incident). The power button takes a bit of effort to push, which is nice since you don't have to worry about accidentally turning the light off.
Overall, a highly recommended product.
