The Craftsman 9-17816 Wet/Dry Vac Reusable Pleated Paper Filter offers ten times the surface area of standard foam filters found in other vacs. These filters are washable and reusable. I have an older 17923 Craftsman vac, and I was hoping this filter would fit as a replacement to the original 17884 filter. Nope - totally different. This 17816 filter is a newer "red stripe" type of filter and my vac takes the older "black stripe" type of filter. I gave this product 5 stars because it looks very well made and is probably an excellent replacement for new Craftsman vacs. I just wish Amazon carried the older 17884 "black stripe" filter.

This filter is a perfect replacement for my over 12 year old Craftsman 5 gallon wet/dry vacuum. Installation was very easy. Fit was to-spec.
This filter has been used primarily for [dry] shop floor clean-up of wood debris as well as lathe, band saw, table saw and miter saw dust extraction. While not the perfect solution for dust extraction (should have a dedicated extractor), this filter, when new, allows for excellent suction at the point where dust is generated.
I have been able to knock out the collected debris from the filter baffles for 2 re-uses of the filter (using a respirator outside as this is a very dusty procedure), but I can't recommend more re-uses. My subjective observation has been that the filter captured a very high percentage of the fine wood particles made by my shop's machines. And each re-use is subject to an increasingly clogged filter.

This is the second time I am having to write this review. This filter is a craftsman filter that fits my old six gallon model number 113.179675. I know it shows on the box it fits a lot of different ones but this is the only one I can confirm as it is the one I own. some reviewers say it is cheaper other places but I can have it on my doorstep which saves gas and frustration of going to sears. IF I buy it online from sears they charge shipping which makes it more expensive versus buying it here. The nut is included and it fit just like the one I took off, perfectly.

After the wide range of differing reviews here I was almost nervous to purchase this. However, it arrived on time fit my 15-year-old craftsman vacuum perfectly. This does have the bottom plastic plate on it and it comes with the replacement nut to screw it on. Seems to be a great replacement even for an older vacuum.

Purchased for my new 6 gallon Craftsman wet/dry vac, this also fits the gallon model. It comes with the plastic nut which holds it in place. These can only be used where there's absolutely no water present, because water shreds the paper filter. If kept dry, it can be cleaned off after it's filled and reused, thus cutting your per-use cost considerably.

This is the name brand filter for a 5 gallon Craftsman wet/dry vacuum. If these paper filters get wet, they're destroyed, however, if you keep them dry, you can bang the dirt off them and reuse them many times. They cut down greatly on the dust coming out the exhaust port. Each new paper filter does come with the plastic nut to hold it in place.

Very good fit and design. Better than original Sears shop vac filter received with the unit when purchased. Bought the prefilter with this filter and combination worked great. Great suction even with the 4" hose use, and comes with a special retaining nut. Comes with its own base cover.

Shopped around and the price is within a few bucks no matter where you buy. Bought from Amazon because I was lazy, and got it in 2 days and works like it should. It's a filter, does what it says, and free shipping.
