It really works and is by far the most valuable accessory for the Dremel. It closes down to near 0 for the smallest of drill bits (much smaller than a sewing needle) yet still holds larger bits than the "large" hex collet. It is well made and durable, withstanding everything from concrete and tile dust to oily metal shavings. It must be tightened with considerable force to resist slipping under heavy use but that's to be expected.

I don't understand why Dremel doesn't include this great little chuck as a standard accessory with all their Multi-Tools. It is so much easier, faster and less frustrating than fumbling with the tiny collet and wrench that the tools come equipped with. If you change bits on your Dremel often, as most do, you will quickly come to appreciate this chuck. As for me, the 4486 is comparable to the Flex-Shaft as one of the single most worthwhile attachments available for adding versatility and convenience to my Dremel tool.

This chuck (which I consider to be essential) greatly enhances the convenience of any Dremel. You might be tempted to save the old collet device this chuck replaces, but before long you will discard it as useless trash. I do a lot of really miniature work and I find the chuck to be great for holding things as small as a 1/64th inch drill. I have one on each of my 3 Dremels.

I consider the MultiPro chuck to be the best accessory ever made for the Dremel tool. When you're doing work that requires constant bit changes, the changing of collets to fit a bit of a particular diameter becomes a real frustration, and wastes time. So, needless to say, an adjustable chuck is a real boon for these kinds of jobs. Just loosen it to remove one bit, pop in another, tighten, and vwah-lah! The collet nut and collets become pretty much obsolete.
The chuck may seem somewhat pricey, but when you consider the time you'll save and the convenience you'll enjoy, it's well worth the extra investment.

I am the owner of an older Dremel advantage as well as a Milwaukee rotary tool. Milwaukee doesn't produce or sell any accessories for it's rotary so I had to look for replacement collets after busting the only collet that came with it. I was looking to order new ones and I was surprised at the high price for such a simple but essential part.that search led me to the keyless chuck. I read some reviews and saw that some said it didn't turn true or that it that it wouldn't hold the bit after use. well I bought it anyway and I'm glad I did. Turns true for me and I switched out a cutting wheel, a grinder, and a sander and it never loosened or showed the slightest wobble.
In case I ever do something really tedious and exact, like sculpting a character Christmas ornament, I will still buy some back up collets just in case I find it does not spin true. But I am very, very happy with this accessory. No more looking for the tool and it makes short work of switching tips. Fits great on the Milwaukee.
This is an essential purchase if you own a rotary. Saves time and money on flimsy collets.

Someone told me I could convert my Dremel to keyless Jacobs chuck, and I ordered this. Then when it came (like, the next day!) I realized I don't HAVE a Dremel-- my rotary tool is a Black & Decker. Awww, darn! And there are no instructions, either.
Well, don't panic. I unscrewed the collet sleeve, took out the collet, and screwed this on. Ta da! It works perfectly. Yay! No more wrapping tape around something that's just a little too small, so the collet will hold it. No more hunting for where I put that darned little collet I now need. Etc. Perfect-- cheap at twice the price, as someone else commented.

The best thing since the wheel! I'm for serious!
This product arrived on time and in almost perfect condition! This little Chuck is the most amazing thing you could ever have for your Dremel tool, it has in his capabilities of excepting many different size tools and is easily adjustable. Installation takes almost no time...it doesn't take any time at all actually....it literally took me 0.04 seconds to install on my Dremel 4000!(I have an ability to move at light speed ) It's made of really good quality steel and seems milled almost perfectly, I would highly recommend buying this product. The one thing I don't understand is why Dremel doesn't just put this with their product in the first place...probably to make more money ...but that's just plain evil
