I am using this to control the on/off of power to my home built rain collector heater for my Davis weather station during snow storms.
6153 Wireless Vantage Pro2 with 24-Hour Fan Aspirated Radiation Shield
My unit turns on at around 36 degrees F and off at 41F. It worked great all through last winter without any problems.
I plugged a nightlight into the second outlet so that I could tell when the Thermo-Cube has switched on and when it had switched off.
I agree that it could be marketed better. None of the automative or hardware stores in my area even knew what I was taking about when I inquired about such a device.
THANK GOD for AMAZON.COM!

I looked for years for something like this to help protect my frost-sensitive plants! I have been using it with C9 Christmas lights and a cover (sheet, blanket or pool cover) on my plants and haven't lost one plant since. It has saved me a lot of money since I don't have to put the lights on a timer all night long like I used to. It's really worth buying!

This is a great product.
Unfortunately it is not marketed properly.
It took forever to find someone that sells these.
These sould be sold at pet outlets and farm supply stores.
Agway did sell a version of this when they were in business.
We use about 10 of these on our farm.
Chickens, P Fowl, Goats, Horses, Brooder room, etc.
Above are some of our applications.
These are excellent for farm use.
Great product!

Clicks on at 35 deg and off at 45... Chickens seem to appreciate the heat lamp it controls, though it's kind of hard to get them to fill out the customer satisfaction survey. They just keep pecking at it and crapping all over it...

Bought 1 of these locally at Tractor supply store. Have it located in my well pump house. I have a ceramic heater pluged into one outlet and a small string of LED Christmas lights into other outlet. The lights are on the outside of the well house so I have a visual of when it is heating. I have a wireless thermometer inside the well house with the monitor in my den. This thermostat has worked great over the last week. The max/ min history on my thermometer has held steady at max 49 and min 34. I will give it a 5 star rating for now. Been nothing but perfect for me. The low temps here this week has been 5 degrees

I used this all winter long with a small space heater in my garage to try to keep the temps above freezing so the snow would melt off my car and my car cleaning supplied wouldn't freeze. It got a little too cold this winter to prevent everything from freezing, but this little thing worked exactly as it should have.
A little note for people not familiar with solid state relays and thermocouples/thermistors: These things will fail closed (electric on) so you shouldn't have to worry about one of these breaking in the middle of winter and not working. If one of the electronic components does wear out you'll have a fail safe device... .well, as long as it doesn't melt from you overloading it (make sure you don't put more than 1500-1800 watts on it). Also, unplug it in the summer if you want it to last longer... (it generated heat while it's switched on so you don't want the solid state relay it to overheat if you have it loaded up at it's maximum wattage).

I use thermo cubes for engine block heaters on all my farm machinery and diesel trucks. They are great, just plug in and let outdoor temp turn them on as needed. I have many thermo cubes for years, and have never had any fail yet. I wouldn't be without them in winter weather.

Working exactly as told it would. It takes care of the chickens on nights when the temperature drops below 35 in the coop by turning on my 60 watt cookie tin. Highly recommend!

Combine this with a Camfro electric portable heater, and you have a winner. It's the key to keeping everything in my green house well above freezing on those really cold winter nights. This unit (TYC-3) reliably and unattended will trigger the Camfro all metal, saftey prtable electric heater (left in the ON position) whenever the temperature dips below 35 degrees, then automatically turns the heater off when it reaches 45 degrees, thus providing just the right amount of heat, only when it's needed to keep my plants from freezing. The 45 degree shutoff saves me a TON of $$ as compared to using the heater without this device. Be SURE to order the model with the exact temperature on/off option that works the best in your particular situation...they sell three different ön when it's cold"models and two versions to be used in hot weather to activate cooling fans in the summer months. And $15 bucks was a deal when you consider portable heaters that have built in thermostats and all the other regular thermostats cost 10x as much...it's a deal and can be truted to always keep my greenhouse from freezing.

Hook up a heat pad to keep things from freezing. Extend the life of batteries for battery powered tools by using a foot warmer pad, and this to turn on and keep expensive batteries from freezing. It can get that cold in a garage and it best not to freeze expensive batteries. Keep them out of the charger and on a foot warming type pad connected to this to control the temp.
