New Stanley Tool Box line- 19-Inch tool box with ONE HAND OPERATION latch

By Thule1
2-6-13. What the 16" tool box didn't have in size, the 19" more than makes up for. This Stanley STST19410 19-Inch Toolbox is a rather large tool box with some interesting features. The top has two compartments that open (under the yellow covers). To the left of the handle the compartment is divided into four section and to the right the compatment is divided into two long sections. This is a nice feature and several small tools will fit into the longer sections. The latch is cleverly designed for one hand opening by pulling up on the spring-loaded latch. When the top is released it automatically relatches securely, unless a tool in the box stops it. The latch is big enough to stay latched under a loaded box. Under the lid is a 3/4 width carryout tray. The 3/4 width tray is as long as the tool box and provides space for larger tools to fit without having to be under the tray. It provide about an inch of room for the full lenght of the box. The overall construction is solid and it feels sturdy and durable. Nice tool box.

I really like this toolbox, it is practical, easy to open and close, and with enough space. It is slightly larger than the standard toolboxes.

So far I am very happy with this tool box. It is good size, sturdy, has plenty of room, and the locking mechanisms snap into place easily. As advertised this is a "one-hand open" box which is great feature. Too many times I have bought plastic tool boxes that use the traditional double top locks for which, inevitably, one breaks rendering the box useless....unless of course you want to chance hauling it around and have the other one break dropping all your tools on the ground.
The reason for this is that the heavy tools can shift and add more weight to one side of the box creating a stress point on one or the other of the two locking flanges. After awhile one is going to give.
This particular Stanley solves that problem with a solid, middle lock you can feel is sturdy when carrying the box around.
As a sidebar, some will argue to just get a metal tool box and you won't have the one-side break issues you do with plastic...and that is true.
However, that also means additional weight which, to me, I want to avoid. Like most who use a toolbox this size, I have it loaded with lots of items so I don't have to keep making "garage runs". The last thing I want is more weight that isn't necessary.
In that regard understand this review is NOT for everyday professional use as part of a trade, but rather a solid box for around the home.
Overall, I rate this Stanley high for that.
Oh, as just a tip for those who may not have thought of it, if you have a sprinkler/drip system and/or an outdoor landscape lighting system, save yourself some time and buy a couple smaller boxes to put in the specialty items for those jobs. It has made my life a lot easier than trying to carrying one "catch-all" box. Broken sprinkler head or burst drip line? Grab the "Irrigation" box, need a light switch changed out or want to add a dimmer? Grab the "Electrical" box. Need to...well, you get the picture.

Now I own a set, one 19-inch and this gem -- the "Stanley STST24410 24-Inch One Latch Toolbox". Hey, it's a toolbox, okay, so I won't wax poetically; but if you need a toolbox don't mess around and buy a cheap knockoff imitation; buy the real thing and be happy with it.

HUGE tool box for working around the house or garage! I figured Stanley generally makes decent stuff so I gave it a shot. I really enjoy the storage capacity of this box. It's strong but definitely not rugged enough to lug around outdoors everyday but for the price this is a quality box and can hold a heavy load. just make sure it's closed all the way or you'll spill your tools!

this toolbox was worth the money. I bought it to put our fencing supplies, and it more than does the job. It is heavy duty enough to hold several pairs of pliers along with hammers and clips. The top two compartments on the lid are gratis for smaller items like staples and sleeves so one doesn't have to dig around in the bottom of the box for hours to find them.

Absolutely love this box !!!
It is very sturdy , very well and logically designed , and very spacious - it holds all my car repair tools ( including pry bar , big torque wrench and even 24'' breaker bar - it fits diagonally )
Nice tray for misc. items ( electronics ) and two compartments on top for small stuff
The handle and latch system is solid - I just weighed this box with all the tools in it - 45 lbs - that's good engineering
Good price for well made and designed box - that's value .
I highly recommend this box .
I would suggest to get a 24'' box - as your tool collection grows the extra space will be needed , and you can store your extra long items ( like breaker bars )

I ordered this product via Prime shipping and received it in 2 days packaged in a large shipping box, very easy to open. The toolbox is black/yellow in color, latches open/close on the front, heavy duty handle, tray inside to organize/sort and 2 different trays on the lid to organize tiny bolts, screws, etc, made of hard plastic and the shape makes it easy to store. I purchased this toolbox for my husband to keep his tools, etc organized because now everything is in a shoe box with plastic baggies- lol! My daughter is giving this to my husband for father's day so I will update my review with his thoughts and pictures on how everything fits. UPDATE: my husband absolutely loved this gift and says it is perfect for apartment living & it keeps everything organized. Thanks for making such a great product. I definitely give this product 5 stars!

for only $16, you cant go wrong, solid build quality, nice looking modern style, light weigh, just about perfect for basic, not mechanical advanced. I professional with 30 years experience might say something else, but i just need a nice place to storage my tools. Is so nice looking it looks like a lego box and for the price you get 6 stars
