I remain amazed at the progress in portable lighting technology. Recent advancements in LED quality and brightness levels surpasses past iterations and as of May 2008 this seems to be the best light in this size and form factor. The Stylus Pro is an improvement over the thinner but not-as-bright regular Stylus, also a great little light (and reviewed also in the video). The SP not only has a brighter "high flux" LED but its push button switch makes it one hand operable, a big advantage pretty much in all situations. For these features it is only slightly thicker than the regular Stylus but still very lightweight (only a svelte 1.8 oz). The output is also electronically controlled meaning its brightness will be more consistent and even through the life of the batteries. Other features including materials, battery types, and their clips are covered in the video. Both the Stylus and the Stylus Pro are super quality lights that feature lightweight, small size, and good durability. In the world of small lights the Stylus Pro is currently reigning supreme.

I lost this flashlight two years ago and just found it the other day buried under mud and leaves...... Still works!!!

Very pleased with this flashlight. It's quite small and very bright. It would be a nice small light to carry in a purse, glove box or your shirt pocket. The tail switch has a momentary on or full on. You do have to press it with some force for the full on.

Lightweight, intense light, easy to operate with one hand- this would be an incredible tool for law enforcement or an emergency responder. I'm buying a few more immediately I doubt one could ask for a more versatile hand held light. The beam is very intense- might even do well as a self-defense item as it is blinding if shone directly in the eyes. Money well spent!

This is a great pen light for all the reasons stated both above and in other reviews.

However, if you're a medical student/EMT/nurse/doctor, don't think that you can pull double duty and make this a light to check pupils with. It's just way too bright, and your patients will hate you forever.

I've been carrying the Streamlight Stylus Pro and the Streamlight Microstream for a couple of years now, and I think I can safely say that these are excellent lights. I never leave home without one of them.

I compared them to my 4 C cell Maglight (non LED) and promptly got rid of my Maglight. The light cast by both the Stylus Pro and the Microstream were very comparable to the Maglight, but at an obvious weight advantage (not to mention battery consumption).

I started out carrying the Stylus Pro in my pocket, next to my trusty pocket knife, but, after about a year I bought myself a Microstream, since is fits so much better. Now the Stylus Pro sits on my night stand for when I need to check on noises or anything like that.

My wife liked the Stylus Pro so much that I bought her one too.

One other very positive note: One day at work I brushed by a pallet of boxes and caught the pocket clip of my Stylus Pro on one of them and it bent out really bad. It eventually broke. I called up Streamlight and told them what happened and they sent me two pocket clips free of charge (attached to two tail caps!). This is an awesome company and they provide excellent customer service.

I would STRONGLY suggest that if you're looking for a nice little flashlight, get yourself either one of these lights... Or heck, get one of each :-)

I just got it so if it turns out to not be worth it after a few weeks I'll update my review. But as for right now I cannot believe how bright this thing is. It feels real sturdy. The overall appearance and feel says I'm made of quality to last a lifetime. I'm real happy with this flashlight. After fixing 4 flashlights at work that feel and seem cheap, cuz they are, I am so glad I spent the $20 for this flashlight. The other flashlights at work have 3 led's and this one is in now way even close to comparing on the same level. It's at least 10 times brighter. As for dark and low light areas, 35ft towards wall in dark room I could easily describe any persons features and details well enough for the police to pick them up by decription. 12 ft towards a wall in a very low light room I could easily count pins in the wall. I have never posted pictures before but if I can tag them to this review I will post both pictures. One review I read said something about crap batteries coming with this light, I received energizer batteries. Not crap in my opinion.

Absolutely buy the flashlight!!!!!

Never owned a better light!
Super bright, easy to get batteries, tough construction and even a holster with a lifetime guaranty.
I also bought the Streamlight Ulta Stinger and it too is wonderful.
Streamlight has turned me into a light junkie.
I'm spoiled and will never buy another Maglite nor anything else.

Quick Review: Awesome, lightweight, durable, simple, reliable, cool, functional, and you should buy one now.

Long Review:
In the past few months I have bought 4 of these flashlights. In the past few years I have started an everyday carry system. I have always heard how useful a flashlight is to have on you at all times but never really got one because I though how useful it was considering I have an iPhone on me at all times. So the more I heard about the idea about carrying a flashlight as well as hearing about this flashlight I became intrigued. I saw this flashlight listed at around $20. Being a college student even this is relatively affordable. There was nothing I heard that made this seem like a bad product with reviews and such being very positive. So I puled the trigger on one. Not to sound cheesy but it really did change my life.
I never knew how useful these things could be because they are slightly bigger than a pen with a ton of light being thrown out. Definitely an upgrade from the iPhone.

This product is not the best out there but it is close. The only other main competitor (that I know of) is the Four Sevens Preon 2 being about the same size and weight. However it is twice as much being around $44. It has a much brighter light over 100 lumens, even though I have heard reviews say that in reality it is not brighter. Also the Preon 2 has different modes like high, mid, low ,sos and so on. This is definitely something to consider because if you have the extra money I would say go for it. It also looks fantastic and is very streamlined. Also the streamlight protac might be another option too.

However, if your like me and want to save a few bucks this is the best option. It is slim, not much bigger than your standard pen, it is very simple, and it is rugged. It is also bright and the battery last longer than that you think. Im sure by now you can figure out that I really like this product however there is one small issue I have with it. That is the finish. I'm sure that the finish is great even compared to the competitors but while I had this in my pocket I noticed that the finished began to wear and wear fast. From the few months that I had it it look already a few years old due to it being beat up. I haven't used it a ton nor have I abused it. I think the wear was due to the fact I had a leatherman multi-tool in the same pocket so I don't blame it on the product itself. I was weary about the rubber tail cap getting worn out but I haven't seen much wear on that plus it is replaceable anyways. Other than that there are really no negative points.

So overall for the money I have not seen anything that can beat this product. Also Streamlight has improved this model with a more powerful LED bumping the lumen count to 65 from 48. Not a huge upgrade but it still is better than nothing. Again the light is very powerful even for being only 65 lumens it definitely seems like more. It is a huge improvement over an iPhone or any cell phone camera for that matter, it just doesn't compare. I am more than happy to spend my money on this product and would do it again in a heartbeat. Since I got my first one I ended up getting another for myself as well as one for each of my parents. They also love theres although, not quite as much as I do. So in my honest opinion, just buy one. I promise it will be worth it.

Oh did I mention it came with 2 Energizer batteries? Well played Streamlight, well played...

NOTE: The picture is comparing the new light to the old one. As you can see the old one does have a significant amount of wear and scratches but it runs perfectly and I have no problems using it.

I am a resident physician and The Streamlight 66118 Stylus Pro is a great light for me. I was tired of using cheap penlights that always seemed to break or flicker and where not very bright for assessing pupilary reflexes and patients' oropharynxes. During the early morning hours when patients are still asleep, this light also comes in very handy to assess surgical wounds as well.

Overall, I'm very happy with this light, and would strongly recommend it to anyone who needs a small but bright light.
