I was worried about this set being flimsy, since I was not able to hold them in person before making my purchase, but on the contrary they are sturdy and perfect for doing the job. Love to paint with them!

Artist supplies tend to have a significant mark-up which is fine when purchasing a top of the line paint or canvas but who wants to spend more money on knives? I don't! Let's face it, they tend to wear out over time if for no other reason than the harsh chemical cleaners. I thought I'd give this a try just because of the price; the entire five pieces cost only a little more than one knife at my local art supply store. I was concerned over the quality - it's more than adequate although nothing to get excited about.
Handles are wood and finished but little more. The metal is flexible but firm. I actually prefer a bit less flexibility but given the price, these suffice just fine. Easy to clean and work as intended. A very good option for those searching for value priced items without totally sacrificing all quality.

I am still learning the best was to use these as I try to learn impasto but they are nicely made. Good wooden handles and the metal seems like it will hold up well too. Used them to make some little flowers and they turned out great for a first time using them!

These aren't the best painting knives in the world, but for the money they are nice. Some reviewers seem to think that they can be used for scraping paint off the house or for some various hammer and chisel work. Not so. They are artist's oil painting knives to be used on canvas to spread oil or acrylic paints. They should not be abused in any other manner.
That said, the blades are less flexible than the ones I am used to using. They have nice handles and come in various sizes for various applications of the paint. For the beginning painter they should be adequate. If treated carefully, they should last quite a while.

These fit my needs perfectly and were a great price. If you're looking for a good, quality, professional set, then keep looking. However, if something that is just okay and is just for a simple job will fit your needs, then you can't beat getting them on Amazon.

Perfect for my needs...which means any task other than painting. I use these for a myriad of purposes around my house. That includes cleaning details in my kitchen and bath, glue application & spreading, removing labels off items, cleaning wall paint from small or recessed areas, etc. I find them very useful for all sorts of detail work so these are solid enough to do the job yet flexible enough to fill the bill when I'm looking for a McGyver tool. These didn't cost enough to fret over if one breaks (toss it) or the ferrule loosens (I have hot glue)!! I won't be using them as an artist pallet knife & can't speak to their quality for that purpose. If your like me and tinker a lot they are a good investment. I'd purchase them again.

I am just a beginner artist experimenting with oil for the very first time. Bought this set for my first oil of red roses. It made my day! I am well pleased with my purchase and of course my finished painting. I don't think I would have done it so well without these knives. Thank you Darice!

Great painting knives. The price is amazing compared to other prices and these are made with real sturdy wood and are not cheaply made like I kinda expected it to be for the price. I was very much surprised on i . Will buy agai .

This is a great starter set of painting knives. However, as others have mentioned, they are a bit stiff which makes it inconvenient if you are trying to obtain a certain look. If you want to get into painting knives or are looking for a quality set, I'd recommend finding something else. However, these will do.

i love it. it was my first time using a knife set for my oil painting. i had a lot of fun with it. the wooden handles are sturdy and the metal part is flexible for ease of paint application on the canvas.
