First of all, I would like to start of my review by saying this is a very good product considering how much the price is and for how bright it is. When I first got my hands on this item I automatically put in the battery (I have the one big battery you need rather than the 3 AAA ones called the 18650 3.7 li-ion 4000 mAH). Now when I got the package it didn’t even feel like there was anything inside there, until I opened it and found the small box of the flashlight. Even the box of the flashlight still didn’t get to me in my head how light the product was. Now I’ll just state some facts about the flashlight that I liked better than I didn’t.
The pros about this product.
- The product as I stated was very feather light, the aluminum body makes it feel so sleek and durable as if you dropped it you know nothing would happen to it.
- I really think that this product would be good for all around usage. In case a thunderstorm and your breaker goes off and you needed to turn it back on, for a mechanic that needs to find that pesky little screw that fell inside the engine, someone who works at a body shop and need better lighting to see the paints imperfections or hail damages that have happened.
- I like how it has the features of High light, Low light, and strobe (although I don’t know what that last feature would be good for unless you wanted to make someone go into epileptic shock or you were trying to make a party start.)
- LED lighting is what we all need now a days, which is also why cars are coming in with stock lighting that way now and our phones cameras, etc. rather than those dim yellow halogen bulbs that make it hard to see, especially for older people who have trouble seeing I would recommend getting a LED flashlight (as this one perhaps) for trying to find things in the dark.
- Another thing I really liked about this flashlight that you don’t see in most other, I guess I would call them, “tactical looking flashlights” is that this one in particular has the ability to accept either 3 AAA batteries, or one of the huge single rechargeable batteries that I mentioned earlier in my post (the 18650 3.7 li-ion battery).
- The price in my opinion is very low for a great product that lights up as much as it does!
And now the cons.
- What I didn’t like about this product is that the flashlight got warm, and it was only about 7 minutes of lighting up the dark that I started to feel it get warmer and warmer (don’t worry though it won’t get hot enough for you that you’ll need an oven mitt for it)
- The top of the flashlight where the I guess the glass part where the light shines out of in my opinion should be more pronounced for in case it was dropped hard or in a perfect way that it landed about on that area to prevent it from breaking (which hopefully doesn’t happen to anyone)
I also have a comparison as well to a previous flashlight that I had gotten which is the “UltraFire WF-502B” and the link for it on amazon if anyone wants to see it as well.
https://www.amazon.com/UltraFire-WF502B-Flashlight-Battery-Included/dp/B005E48K6I/ref=sr_1_1?s=hi&ie=UTF8&qid=1466983045&sr=1-1&keywords=UltraFire+WF502B+Flashlight+CREE+XM-L+T6+LED+3
Comparisons.
- Compared to the Anker flashlight this one weights probably twice as much as the Anker one. (1 point for Anker)
- According to the products details on both products, the Anker one states it has 400 lumens while the Ultra Fire has 900 lumens. Yet as you can see in my pictures that as I do a side by side test of both of them, the Anker one is a lot brighter, and also has a longer field of vision. (1 point for Anker)
- In the Ultra Fire, it has a built in feature along with the same features that the Anker one had when pressing lightly on the button is that it has an S.O.S light option, when the Anker only has high, low, and strobe which would probably be helpful if you think about it at some point in your life because you just never know when you will need help. (1 point for Ultra Fire)
- The Ultra Fire flash light does not get hot (or warm as I previously stated) as the Anker one does, even after I timed both of them for being on 15 minutes straight, which I’m sure some people would prefer to use a cool flashlight rather one that gets warm and makes your hand probably sweat if you’re like me. (1 point for Ultra Fire)
- Something I thought was helpful on the Ultra Fire was that on the top where the light shines through, it has a tactical usage feature that would probably be helpful in the for breaking a window in case you got trapped in a car, or say even a random alley fight, it looks and feels hard as if it could really hurt. I haven’t tried it yet to hit anything but I’m sure it does by hitting my hand with both. (1 point for Ultra Fire)
- The built in strap that Anker put on theirs is really helpful because I’m sure if you’re going to be using this in the dark, it would be very helpful to have it strapped over your hand in case you tripped by accident and didn’t have to drop it or etc. And the Ultra Fire does not have that just a clip to put in the side of your pocket. (1 point for Anker)
- Unlike the Ultra Fire, the Anker has as I stated previously a use of being able to handle 3 AAA batteries or even a single 18650 3.7 li-ion battery. I found this very useful because if you receive the product and want to or need to use it right away then you’ll probably be thinking “oh great now I have to wait for the awkward big battery AND charger to come in for them which will be an additional cost, and then even wait for it to get charged” but we all know that not everyone has these laying around the house to just pop one of these big boys in these types of flashlights. But what I do know is that most people (or probably everyone has AAA batteries somewhere in their house). (1 Point for Anker)
- This Anker flashlight is water resistant to an IPX5 rating, which could be used in heavy rain in case your lights went out in a thunderstorm. (1 point for Anker)
SO..as you can see Anker came to having 5 points while the Ultra Fire came out to 3. We can now see the Anker flashlight is clearly superior in this review. And I will conclude that it is a great product to purchase over the Ultra Fire I had purchased but obviously Anker had not made this product when I purchased my Ultra Fire 2-3 years ago. I received this product as a sample for testing and evaluating, in return for a honest, fair, and unbiased review.
Hope you like your product when you decide to buy it because I know I’m buying another for my wife!

I want to start by saying that for the price, this is a very solid flashlight. It has hi, low and strobe settings that cover every basic need and the mode cycling is very simple to follow. The build quality seems decent and the lanyard appears secure, however, I imagine the black coating will scratch off easily. I can't find any major flaws with this light, especially at $11!

My biggest complaint is while it says it can use 18650 batteries, they fit very loosely in the tube. They should have included a battery sleeve to give it a more secure fit since you do not want a lipo battery shorting in your flashlight. Also, I would have like to see some sort of ant-roll incorporated into the design (i.e. a flat side).

As a side note, the packaging is very simplistic. Generally, this wouldn't be a problem as most of the pertinent information is printed on the box, however, I found that they made no mention of the warranty period nor that you can use 18650 batteries anywhere on the box or insert.

This light would be suitable for either a glove box (without lipos due to summer heat) or an office desk in my opinion. I prefer something stronger around the house and for camping but this basic light will cover most basic uses. This would also make a nice gift as a decent flashlight is not something most people go out of their way to buy until they find themselves in the dark!

I received this product in exchange for my unbiased review.

Edit: My gf's car broke down a few hours from home so I grabbed my tools, my Nitecore SRT5 and this light. It was decently bright for what I was doing but this light got quite hot fairly quickly. To the point where it was uncomfortable to hold. My Nitecore pushes at least twice the lumens for twice the amount of time before it gets that hot. I ended up using the nitecore to finish repairs. In a pinch, this light will serve it's purpose but I wouldn't want to need it on high for more than a few minutes.

Lets start with the material is made of, this seems to be the best and very strong material inside and out, the batteries holder concerned me at first glance but further inspection proved the well design of the interior of the unit as well.
The size is about the size of the palm of my hand as you can see in the picture, even if is an OK size, I wish for an smaller version to carry it in the pocket or possible a belt clip, however the strap that came with it is perfect size and good material. This is more for portability.
It uses 3 AAA batteries which make the flashlight a little heavier but no bad enough, I think it would be no\ice for future designs to include rechargeable battery.
The exterior design is not solid, instead have some lines in the middle allowing better holding of the unit, also the on/off button is design with long lasting material.
About the 400 lumen...please refer to one of my pictures, this thing can light up my entire back yard, it is very bright I also use it on my bicycle. The range is great, I'm not sure how to measure it but it is really long.

I will update later on the battery life.

Over all I consider a great flashlight that everybody should have, and even if the product can be improved, it is the best low cost flashlight I own.

I was supplied a sample for test and evaluation, and I promised that my review is fair and honest

A good solid flashlight. But nothing fancy and not even the best flashlight I have bought this week. But a good solid flashlight. Has three modes of light, HIGH, LOWER (but not much), and BLINKING. And the good thing about this flashlight is that you don't have to turn it off and then back on again, just tap the button and it goes to the next mode. Very cool. You can buy a nicer #18650 rechargable battery (Olight ORB-186P26 works great) and get a much bright beam, or use 3 AAA batteries. I have grown so used to Anker's products being head and shoulders better than all the rest I was superised that this flashlight wasn't that way. Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with this, but it's just another good flashlight. / Anker has become that company I really look up to for their great products with reasonable prices. / No, I didn't get ANYTHING free, I had to pay my hard earned $$$ for this flashlight. I just wrote this review because I felt like it, NOT because anybody gave me anything.

I absolutely LOVE this flashlight! It's nice and small, about 4 1/2" long and maybe 1" in diameter. It has a nice wrist strap loop to prevent drops. The body of the flashlight is a metal with a nice solid, sturdy build. The surface has just enough texture to give it a good grip, but not to the point of being aggravating to the hands over an extended period.

The flashlight is turned on/off via a full click on the rubberized button which is on the back end of the flashlight. A half-press of the same button allows you to choose full brightness, partial brightness and a strobe light effect. The flashlight uses 3 AAA batteries (not included) which fit into a little plastic holder which slides into the barrel of the flashlight from the back which screws off and has an o-ring to provide water resistance.

Final thought, this flashlight, especially given the size, is incredibly bright, even at it's "dim" setting. This is definitely going in my backpack for any future camping trips, etc.

I received a sample of the Anker LC40 LED Flashlight for review and here is my honest review.

It's interesting to see Anker venturing into a new product segment. I have purchased many Anker batteries and chargers, but this is my first Anker LED flashlight.

I will use my Fenix E12 (130 Lumens, single AAA) flashlight for comparison. Fenix LED flashlight is one of the top brand in the LED flashlight market.

Package:
The flashlight comes in nice Anker logo'ed box. Features and operating instructions are printed on the packaging. It's actually a good alternative to including a separate instruction booklet. A handstrap is also included.

Build:
The Anker LC40 LED flashing is made of Aluminum alloy. The material is on par with that of the Fenix. It also has a nice textured finish so it doesn't slip out from your hand easily. The power switch seems to be of high quality. It gives a strong tactile feels. I have had many cheap flashlight from eBay, many of them failed to operation soon after due to the power switches. This tactile, strong spring loaded power switch is a good indication of Anker's quality.

There is one imperfection and it's the strap hole on at the end of Anker flashlight. It's a SINGLE strap hole. Fenix E12 has "double" strap holes. That means on the Anker, the strap will have to loop through the single hole and then warp around the outer edge. That means you cannot securely stand the Anker flashlight on the table and use it as a lamp. (light facing the ceiling).

Fenix E12 has double strap holes, the handstrap loop around the two holes so you can make it stand perfectly on the table as a lamp. You can still make the Anker stand, just not as well.

Lamp mode (standing on the table and shining towards the ceiling) can be useful though but not a common use for flashlight.

Performance:
Anker flashlight uses Cree LED XP-G2 and it's rated at 400 lumen. Compared to Fenix E12's 130 lumens (CREE XP-E2), the result obvious. Anker is so much brighter. The light beam is very focus with a small hot spot. 130 lumen flashlight is already sufficient for general activities in complete darkness. But with Anker's 400, things are brightly illuminated.

Anker LC40 has 3 modes: High , Low and strobe. Switching between modes are done by lightly depressing the switch (without the click). This works very will with no problem at all.

Unfortunately Anker LC40 power switch does not reset its mode nor memorize is previous mode.

In fact, it switches mode every time you turn it on. Say you are in high mode and turn it OFF. Next time you turn it on again, it goes to the Low mode. You turn it Off when it's in Low mode, next time you turn it on, it will be in the strobe mode.

It would be better if it defaults to the same mode every time you turn it on. Or the other option is to memorize the last mode used and when it's turned on, switch back to that last mode used. In Fenix's case, it always defaults to the low mode so i know what to expect every time I turn on the flashlight.

Because of this, you never know which mode it will be on when you turn on the Anker flashlight. This is usually not a problem except when it's switch on to the strobe mode which can be a bit annoying at times.

My suggesting is to default it to the low or high mode everytime it is turned on.

Anyway, this is by no mean s a deal breaker because a light press (or two) of the button will let you switch to the mode you want.

Conclusion:
Anker LC40 is definitely a high output, high quality LED flashlight. My only complaint is the lack of a default power on mode as described above. But I would still give it 5 stars. The reason is that a high quality LED flashlight that uses Cree LED XP-G2 from Fenix easily costs 2 or 3 times the price. At $12.99, this is definitely one of the best flashlight out there.

PROS:
- High quality material
- Long range , high lumens
- Cree XP-G2
- Low Cost

Cons:
- No power-on default mode (changes each time you power on)
- Doesn't not perfectly stand on table (strap is in the way)

By adjective
Anker is an established brand at this point, known for making reliable and inexpensive electronics. Now they're known for making a good flashlight. I won't call it "great" unless it can withstand a few years of regular use before the switch dies, but it's served me well these past couple of months. It's survived several drops onto hard surfaces and turned night into day dozens of times. 400 lumens isn't top of the line, but it's still ridiculously bright. I usually just use the lower power setting, which is still quite powerful.

I definitely recommend the 18650 lithium-ion batteries if you're purchasing this light or a similar model. Output and run time are greatly improved over AAA's, and prices should continue their downward trend as 18650's become more popular.

Now, I have a couple of recommendations to the manufacturer:

One, an ultra-low power mode, which is nice for reading or up-close work where a lot of glare is not appreciated.
Two, a sturdy clip. Flashlights tend to chew through pants pockets over time.
Three, offer a polished metal or high-visibility color version (red, yellow, etc.) Visually conspicuous tools are harder to lose.

This is an incredible pocket sized flashlight. I was hesitant at first b/c it called for 3 AAA batteries, but for around $10, I thought why not. The light that comes out of this thing is incredibly bright. Can't wait to use this on my next camping trip.

By Taoist Monk
I have used this on many different occasions. I went camping with this, pretty bright for 400 Lumens which out-shined my other 400 lumen flashlight. It is very light weight and has survived being dropped in the river twice! It didn't sit for long but it still worked. My wife and I also used this flashlight during our Pokemon GO hunt at night. We live in a pretty low key neighborhood where everyone know everyone, though its hard to see a face at night, the reflected light from the flashlight made it easy to identify who's walking in front of your house at 3AM. With a fresh load of batteries, I mounted it on my bike. During my night ride (Usually do 15-20mi), the road and surroundings were illuminated and there were no hassles of letting people know I am there! The only downfall is a group of 10 runners congested the trail and spread out to block off the trail after ringing my bell and alerting them I'll be pass on the left... it didn't help that they spread out and one backed right into me. My front brake and brake handle bar didn't make it. But my flash light did, and it launched a bit into the forest. This is an affordable flashlight and you get a pretty good shine out of it. I received this product as part of the power user program. My review is unbiased and honest.

This is a great LED flashlight. I have been using it for couple days and here are my feedback on this.
It use 3 AAA batteeries and last about 4 to 6 hours which depend how you use it. There are 3 modes (High, Low, Blinking) which spread quite close. It has 400 lumne cree LED which super bright because i use it on camping trip and i can see very far away too. I am very happy with this product and highly recommend it.

Pros:
* Compact size & Ergonomic Design with black finish
* Super-Bright: 400-lumen Cree LED (50000-hour lifespan)
* Very lightweight and it use 3AAA batteries upto 4 to 6 hours of use

Cons:
* No batteries provided (which anker mention on the product detail already)

I received this product at a discount in exchange for an honest unbiased review. These opinions are my own and not persuaded in any way by receiving a discount on this product for review.
