These tube pipe cleaners are designed for scrubbing out fouling and carbon residue from gas tubes on gas-impinging rifles, like traditional AR15 platforms and variants. These extra-long tube pipe cleaners let you swab the full length of the gas tube. Not having touched an M-16 since my 70's Marine days, I obviously didn't buy these for cleaning gas tubes. Rather, I use them for cleaning extractor and firing pin channels or anything else on my pistols too small for a Q-tip. For those of us who completely disassemble our 1911's and other pistols to thoroughly clean them, these are a must. Though I use solvent and spray cleaner nozzle brushes to softly scrub out the channels, residue is left behind. These cleaners pick that up. In the firing pin channel they are actually so soft and the cleaner wire so thin that you can run them right out into the chamber getting rid of anything that might build up in the striker hole. 16" too long for a pistol? Once one four or five inch piece is too dirty to use, I just snip it off and go to the next five inches. In the frame of a 1911 and its various parts, there are at least five places where a Q-tip can't go. These pipe cleaners get into all of them. What little lint which rarely, very rarely, might be left behind is quickly removed with a puff of your breath. I highly recommend pistol owners add these to your cleaning product supplies.

Exactly as expected and just what I needed. I don't use them for my AR, I use them to clean and dry MIC Key feeding tube. Quality is excellent. I have used them for the gas tube on a Bushmaster M4A3 and I am sure there are many other uses for these.

Hard to believe that I'm writing a review about pipe cleaners. Do they give a Pulitzer for reviews? Look, they're pipe cleaners, they're 16 inches long, and they are very useful in cleaning the gas tube on an AR rifle. If you read the product description, you already knew that.

I will NEVER go without these. Did the job perfectly. THEN after cleaning the gas tube, they can have the dirty end cut off & used to help get into hard to reach places to either clean or to oil......or both. NICE TO HAVE.

Finally found the perfect cleaner for my Gas Exchange tube - they could be ever so slightly bigger but it is not enough to ding them a STAR on - they really do help remove the build up in the gas exchange tube.

Nothing fancy here, just a product that does exactly what it is designed to do! First time I used this pipe cleaner on my AR I was really amazed at all the gunk it picked up. This works so much better that the work a rounds I have been using. This is a cheap, effective solution to a problem many AR owners don't even know they have.

They do the job of cleaning the gas tube on an AR rifle very well. After I purchased these gas tube pipe cleaners, I discovered you can buy virtually the same thing for about one quarter the cost at Walmart. Nothing against the pipe cleaners from Amazon, but for one quarter the price I will buy them from Walmart in the future.

I tried to use regular pipe cleaners and they just didn't work, they were to short and didn't get all the dirt. These work perfect they are heavier and get all the dirt and soot. I use them fore other areas as well.

More than ample length. it gets the fouling out. since most of the fouling is in front by the gas block you can turn the pipe cleaner around and use the other end so it is not a onetime use. I wish they came in packs of 100.

I will buy again.

What can you say about an over-sized pipe cleaner?

It is exactly what you need to clean the gas tube of direct impingement AR upper.
