These are exactly what you expect them to be. They have a variety of circular holes (so if your belt has oval or square holes you might need some touching up). They punch a clean hole. I squeeze until the cutter clicks through, then twist a few times to be sure it's a clean cut.
I've used on monk strap shoes and leather watches for tiny holes and belts for larger holes. It's very utilitarian but works just as you want it to.

I actually bought this to punch a hole on a leather watch strap. The 2mm is perfect for that, cuts with ease and a nice finish. Also used it on a leather belt using the 3.5 and 4 mm punch. Its sharp enough for a nice finish and with some pressure you can easily punch holes.
The only negative is that the punch holes are lubricated and the only way to turn or select a different punch is to literally rotate it by holding it and grease/oil (black in color) gets in to your hands and/or the material you're punching into. It's also tight and since its slippery kind of hard to rotate. Be careful if you're punching holes on a white leather or any other light colored material. I would've liked the design such that there is a knob to select the different size punch. Okay, may be that's an overkill for punch pliers!
This really is a nifty tool to have in your tool box. For $6 or 7 bucks you can't go wrong considering there are other pliers selling for thrice as much, doing pretty much the same thing.

I bought the punch to replace one I had lost. This was for punching a new hole in a leather belt as well as punching holes in marine canvas to make way for snaps. The punch pliers appear to be of good build and no different than the old punch which was twice the price. In fact, the same type of revolving punch is listed at nearly 3 times the price on a site that specializes in boating and marine canvas. I expected something poorly put together, light, and imprecise. What I got was a great tool for years to come, and, a nice surprise.

Their description says it has a non-slip grip, but the picture clearly doesn't have one. I bought General Tools #72 at my local hardware store today in order to put two holes in a new belt that I bought on Amazon only to find out it was slightly big for me. Anyway, this thing works perfectly as described, and I can see it being useful in the future. I'll post a customer picture of my version of the same product, which has slightly different colors for some of the metal parts as well as the grips that the description mentions.

Works great. Me and my team needed something to tighten up our belts and I figured I would give this a shot, and lone behold it worked! It can get through almost any type of leather with ease! Make it alot easier to punch a hole in a belt rather than using a knife!

Sometimes having an extra hole at the end of my belt makes eating my meal that much more enjoyable. This tool was perfect for that job! It's very easy to use. Rotate the wheel until you find the hole that matches the ones in your belt. (There are six sizes to choose from.) Mark the place where you want to punch and press until you hear a "click" sound. If the belt is too thick, you may have a hard time making it work. I found out that if I put the belt on the floor and press the lever with all my might, it works. If it still doesn't go through, just turn the belt on the other side and align the spot and press again. (You may need to do this a number of times.) So far this punch pliers have made a clean hole in everything I tried. You need to clean the punchers after every use. I used a safety pin to poke out the material and it worked very well. (The punchers need to remain hollow for it to work properly.) My punch pliers are coated with black rubber which made holding this gadget more comfortable. So far, I've made extra holes on my belts and handbags. I'm very pleased with my purchase!

Great tool! I finally got myself in gear and started dropping a few pounds and I really, really like my belt. This punch easily went through 2 layers of thick high quality leather and a kydex plastic reinforcement. It's very sturdy and well made. I don't anticipate using this much, but when I do I know it will work.

Acceptable quality, i bought it to punch holes in earplugs to use as home made comply type earbuds, works perfectly for that purpose. I punched holes in cardboard no problem, which takes quite a bit of force. Also tried it out on an old belt, punched nice clean round holes without much effort. It's not a high quality tool, it uses rivets instead of bolts, which i'm sure will eventually loosen up, it's powder coated metal, which is quite light so is probably pot metal, not ideal but less expensive and does the job. If you plan on using it regularly, i'd probably spend more and get a nice stainless steel solid hole punch that will last a lifetime, but if it's just for intermittent jobs, like what i need it for, it does what it's supposed to for now.

These are very nice. They cut the holes cleanly and neatly, no tearing or marring. They are heavy and well made. I have bought many General brand tools and was not disappointed this time. They punched through medium thick belt leather like butter. Very happy with the results!

This is the easiest thing ever. Select the size of the hole punch, line up the hole, and squeeze. One of the most efficient tools I have ever used, and by far the best way to get some more use out of a high quality belt without having to buy a new one. Love the product.
