Our easy-to-use suspension system is a real snap – Simply clip, pull and lock!
This reflector suspension system enables you to raise and lower the light in one simple movement. With tension mechanism, the hood will stay in place once set at the desired height. Easily raise your lights when you are doing your routine work in the room, and just pull them down when you leave. It also perfectly meets the requirement of adjusting the hood to provide different light supply as plants grow.
There are two ways of installing the Light Hanger: with the mechanism attached to the ceiling. If you use the Light Hanger for luminaries in a grow tent we recommend that you install the Light Hanger with the free end carabiner to the ceiling frame and the mechanism to the luminary as illustrated. This way, you will not put any stress on your tent frame when hoisting and it enables easier adjustment.
For filters, we recommend that you attach the free end with the carabiner around the filter to avoid rotation of the filter when hoisting. Support the filter when hoisting it to avoid stress on your grow tent frame.

These things are fantastic. I absolutely appreciate so much the design of these units. Once you get them set up and attached to whatever surface that they'll hang from, the rest is all convenience and ease.
Seriously, the folks that have the patents on these were able to pay the mortgage for sure. I'll put up some photos in a little bit to display. Very cool, practical, and efficent product. Prospective buyers should really give these some consideration. The price is right and the convenience rendered is worth much greater amounts.
I am pleased with my purchase and WOULD recommend them to any future owners/purchasers/seed-starting horticulturalists.
To the question of whether they are actually necessary or just superfluous, I would suggest that these units improve your organization in starting your seeds: they are practical. These hangers provide for less clutter and really improve the appearance of the grow space, hygiene, and safety of the physical space for early February seed-starting growers. These will help a space look less busy and more streamlined, provides a person with the ability to really dial in their efforts, no static. Simply have the plants below and the fixtures above, the way it ought to be.

I have been looking for something to hang my light and make it easy to raise and lower. I am glad that I found this product. This product make my life easier when raising my lights and changing nutrient in my hydroponic system.

I bought these to hang a light fixture that weighs about 35 lbs, most of the weight on one side. The ratchets function properly and seem to be of good quality. It has internal parts that are metal, but the casing on the gears are constructed of plastic. I have to lift my light manually to tighten the ratchets because just pulling on the rope isn't enough to lift either side without feeling too much resistance. Overall I would recommend because this is not that big of an issue. each one comes with about 6 feet of rope or so, way more than I need.

This is exactly what I needed to hold my BBQ grill cover from flying away. I have an island grill, so the cover is pretty big and when it gets windy, the cover takes off - these clips fit perfectly through the cover grommets and I don't have to worry about the rope fraying and breaking off - very sturdy. I can quickly remove them when it's time to fire up the 'barbie and clip them on when it's time for storage - nice.

Absolutely a great device. I have been starting my garden seeds indoors for years and have always used chains to hang my lights. It was always cumbersome and hard to use. These things make life so much easier!. I've even used them to hold a 400w HPS light with the ballast contained in the hood, and there was no problem. Well worth the money.

These are handy for adjusting grow bar lights over plants. They ratchet up and have a release to lower. They make the process very easy. The rope is extra long.
I will be growing tomatoes and other garden plants prior to spring planting outside so being able to easily raise and lower the lights to match the plants is a big help.

I use 4 of these to hold up my fishing Kayak out of the way in the garage. The fishing Kayak is about 55lbs. They seem to be holding up well in the dark garage. I use the functionality of them two at a time to raise and lower the kayak.

1/8" Heavy Duty 8' Rope:
I know what they're intended to do, but I've found them really useful for a few other applications:
- Hanging Tarps from trees to create shade: The adjustable clips make it incredibly easy to adjust a tarp's position
- attaching a tarp over a camp load in the back of a truck
- Hanging tools from a shed's support beams
Pros:
- VERY easy lock / unlock mechanism
- Carabiner open/close easily
- Nylon rope seems durable (I haven't done a weight test)
Minor Con:
- The rope doesn't have a tied end, so if you're not paying attention, it's easy to slide the rope out of the locking clip
