- Dry American ale yeast
- Produces a very well balanced beer
- Has a very low sedimentation
A ready-to-pitch dry American ale yeast. Safale us-05 produces well balanced beers with low diacetyl and a very clean, crisp end palate. Sedimentation: low to medium. Final gravity: medium.

I bought this stuff to try a different style of yeast in my favorite recipe, and wasn't disappointed. My vanilla dark ale came out beautifully! This yeast offers some nice, smooth flavors in a 70 degree enviroment, I'd say medium on the sediment, and is quick to metabolize in the starter jar. I have also made a starter from a previous brewed batch, and had no problems. It has a nice temperature range, so you can use this yeast right in your kitchen; no need for a highly temperature controlled environment that some pickier yeasts favor.

Bought this stuff to make some beer, got it in time for my weekend brew day and it did it's job.
Nothing special about this yeast, it seems to ferment fairly clean and attenuation is good. Doesn't leave any off flavors in the beer itself and doesn't take it too long to do its job.

Super fast delivery. Packed well, exactly as described, and a good value for this product. I have one batch of Amber Ale I was worried wasn't fermeting, but it turned out ok. I will use these on future extract kits where I can opt out of buying the yeast.

This Safale yeast by Socal Home Brew if working perfectly so far. I am making a hard apple cider and my ferment is coming along well. I chose this yeast due to the large range in temperatures it works in. Our house is usually pretty cool, so I am glad to see action in my fermenter. I will have to come back and give an update on how it tastes once I am done!

Make sure to rehydrate following the instructions, and you'll have a great beer. The yeast is very neutral and words very well in low to medium gravity beers. I've even heard of people making semisweet meads with this yeast.

I researched a lot of different yeasts and the Safale US-05 seems to be well liked. Most home brewers highly praise this yeast. I decided to try it because the summer temperatures where I live can make my home warm at times. Temperatures can range from the high 60s at night to high 70s in the day time even with the cooler on and using the "wet T-shirt over the fementer" method. This yeast performed well, producing excellent batches of ale, even with those less than ideal conditions.
What I really liked::
(1) It has a good temperature range 53.6 F - 77 F
(2) Long expiration date, I purchased in June of 2016; the expiration date was Feb 2018
(3) Good price, less than $10 for 3 packs
(4) The beers I've brewed with it have turned out great.
I can now say I'm one of those home brewers that really like Safale US-05 yeast for brewing ale and I've heard it also makes great hard apple cider; I'm going to give that a try too.

Best yeast out there for most beers. Very forgiving. I try to keep it between 62 - 68 degrees while fermenting.
I use 2 packs for any OG over 1.075. Under that I've been fine with one pack.

go to the healthy food grocery store and buy the organic apple juice gallon jar, pour this packet in (using your standard sanitizing procedures you would for home brewing) and throw an air lock and let it sit 2 weeks in a temp controlled fermenting chamber and then force carbonate in any corny keg. comes out tasting pretty strong, nice and dry taste for this particular batch it was perfect for my birthday dinner. Always a favorite yeast to use!

This yeast works great for pale ale. Finishes very dry. Forgiving temperature range makes easier to use all year without a lot of temperature control equipment. Always good starter, quicker when rehydrated, but I also sprinkled on wort with success.

This is my go-to yeast for American-style beers- PAs, IPAs, ambers, etc. I always get a reliable, active fermentation, good attenuation, and clean-tasting results. I prefer to keep the fermentation well down in its recommended temperature range; I don't like the results getting above 70 degrees F. I have tried both pitching directly into the wort and rehydrating, and I haven't seen any difference in results so I just pitch directly since it's easier.
