This Review is for Vastar’s 14 Pieces Professional Opening Pry Tool Repair Kit. Purchased this kit mainly for repairing my Kindle Gen 1.
Overall Star rating: “5 Stars”
• Quality of Nylon Tools - 2 Stars
o Large Putty knife like – most useful.
' Once you actually start cracking the case, this tool if very useful in finishing the job.
o Green tool - most helpful.
' It was not as soft as the others. The non-crooked flat edge worked the best.
o Black pencil like tool with a flat end on other side – Well useless.
' To clarify, for the Kindle this tool has not practical application.
o Blue small tool – More of a Pain then practical application.
' To clarify, for the Kindle this tool had no practical application, and in addition in order to get any leverage you would have to have one end stabbing into your palm (Painful).
o Black Screen Glass tool, the tool that looks kind of like a Tongue depressor – Most Helpful.
' This tool was excellently designed for the job!
• Quality of Metal Tools – 2 Stars
o Spatula/Scraper tool – most useful. (Earned the 2 stars out of the total 5)
' I used the cleaning cloth over the sharp edge to actually start the case cracking process. The nylon tools were all too soft and would give. That being said, once the first portion was started then the nylon tools worked as described above.
o Ultra-thin pry tool – Useless
' When I tore the kindle completely down to perform all necessary repairs this tool served no purpose. In fact, it was just too flimsy to do anything. It had no practical application.
o ESD tweezers – Not why you would buy this kit!
' However, that being said they are very nice ESD tweezers. But unless you are actually dealing with cold solder joints or advanced electronic repairs this tool has no practical application in repairing the kindle. But again, great tool to add to your took kit!
' I think it is important to clarify here that an ESD tweezer really is not designed for the actual aid in removing things like, de-soldered components, or screws that have dropped. For this get a good pair of plastic tweezers.
• Pentalobe Screwdriver set – 1 Star
o Hey, I only have 5 stars to deal with here. But I can tell you that these little guys they include in the kit earn 5 stars indeed. They were custom picked for the job of repairing your Kindle!
• Suction Cup – Ran out of Stars
o I actually found no purpose for this in my repairs. However, I could see how useful it would be when separating the screen, if you were to run into complications.

This kit worked great. The tools made it very easy to separate the back of my tablet to access the inside and it made it also made it very easy to remove my cracked digitizer/touch screen. The large black spatula is a soft plastic along the front edge and can easily be deformed but that has more to do with my inexperience than the quality of the tool(s). My recommendation is that when using a heat gun or hair dryer to soften the glue that holds the digitizer to the LCD panel to not keep the spatula tool in place and make sure the glue is warmed sufficiently when inserting it to separate the digitizer from the LCD/Tablet, these tips will reduce the chances of the tool's edges being deformed.
The thin metal shim like tool easily slit between the back of the tablet and the bezel to help create enough space to insert the blue or green tools that slide around the case to undo the clips/tabs securing the back to the tablet.
I am glad I bought this kit...I think it was good value for what I paid.

I've been using combinations of credit cards, screwdrivers, and other things to pry electronics open. With metal, I often ding the edges of the plastic. Or break off tabs.
An Xbox One controller button broke off not long after I bought this set and this set worked very well for prying the pieces with tabs apart. The tweezers also came in handy since I have nothing else that small to grab screws or other tiny parts. I normally shake things upside down and hope I don't lose the screws, but was able to grab some of them out instead.

I don't think any "professional" would buy the cheapest kit on Amazon. But as a DIY enthusiast who likes to take my electronics apart and put it together again, this kit seems to work just fine. I would have liked to see a plastic tweezer in here (for handling flat wires), but it's still pretty decent as it is. I like the pouch, which has room for a few additional items. I haven't used it too extensively yet, but I will update this review if anything breaks or I have any other unpleasant experiences with this product. So far so good.

I had to change the charging port on my HTC one m8, I went to several phone repair shops and no one wanted to fix it. At the end I decided to order the charging port and this kit in order to fix it myself.
This kit did the job and it included everything that I needed.

This kit is ideal for people who are doing DIY repair on a laptop or cell phone. I used this kit while repairing my MacBook Pro. The kit had every tool I needed, along with extras that made the process a whole lot easier. It's one of those things that you're not going to use often, but it's very handy to have around. Even if you're not very accident prone, I would pick one up anyways because you never know when something might happen to your device, and you can't beat it for the price.

This is a great little tool set. The package that holds the set is a thick vinyl that should hold up well over time. I only really needed the thinnest of the two metal flat tools to remove my son' severely shattered screen on his Samsung S5. After heating the entire screen with a blow dryer set on high until it was very hot to the touch, I used this tool to easily remove the screen. The tool is beveled just right for achieving the correct angle.
If you need to remove the three screw in back to remove the home button (depending on whether you need to replace it or not) the phillips-head screwdriver fits perfectly and is magnetized which makes it so much easier to handle the tiny screws. I always keep a small bowl nearby to put the screws in so they don't get lost. This tool set certainly has everything you will need to remove and install your new screen. The one thing I would advise is that you need to take your time removing the screen. Because the tool works so well you may be tempted to rush in the removal of the screen. Please take your time so as to avoid scratching the frame of your phone with the metal tool. You may also want to use one of the plastic pieces to aid in screen once you get the metal piece under the screen. I personally found it easier to just use the metal piece for the entire removal. It took me about a minute. I would highly recommend this product for anyone who wants fast work of screen removal! It really does make all the difference.

Nice assortment of tools for various jobs. For anyone that replaces the occasional laptop or phone screen, or works with any small electronics, this kit is a nice addition. The screw drivers are worthless (I have a much nicer precision screwdriver set), but having a plastic scribe, tweezers, and related tools is invaluable when trying to remove plastic panels that are snapped in. If you use a metal screwdriver, you will bend, crack, or break the plastic.

I am a total amateur when it comes to fixing electronics. Circumstances recently led me to try my hand at some simple fixes to a laptop. I discovered half the battle is the right tools. This set of opening pry tools has made it so easy to open things. It has every tool I needed so far. Some are sturdy plastic for using in areas that I don't want to scratch. Totally recommend.
