Remember when you needed to smooth out those joists? Plane away chips, splinters and misshapen edges with the WEN 6 Amp 3-1/4 Inch Electric Hand Planer. Perfect for fixing stubborn doors and fitting wood. This power planer’s 6-Amp motor delivers over 34,000 cuts per minute to your workpiece, slicing away any irregularities until the surface of your boards are aligned and smooth. With a cutting width of 3-1/4 inches and a maximum cutting depth of 1/8 inch, you’ll have the perfect companion for fitting and squaring boards. The 16 positive stops increase in increments of 1/128 inch anywhere from 0 all the way up to 1/8 inches. The base plate shoe even includes a v-shaped groove for easily flattening sharp post corners.
Aside from the power planer, this package also includes a dust bag, a rabbeting guide, a kickstand and a parallel fence bracket. The 5/16 inch rabbeting guide adjusts anywhere from 0 to 1 inches to allow for rabbets up to an inch deep in size. The parallel fence provides an accurate and straight cut by making sure your strokes are directly parallel to the edge of the wood (a must have for planing door edges, wood trim and boards). The kickstand protects both the blade and the workpiece in between uses by keeping the blade elevated and out of contact from the surface of your project. Finally, the dust bag collects all of your loose shavings to keep your work space clean and sawdust free. The bag attaches to both the left or right hand side of the planer to fit whatever your preference may be. And because this is a WEN Product, your 6 Amp 3-1/4 Inch Electric Hand Planer comes backed by a 2-year warranty, a friendly customer help line, and a nationwide network of skilled service technicians. Remember when you had a reliable planer that lasted for years? Remember WEN.

I purchased this based on price because it is a tool that does not see a lot of use,but let me tell you that you will not be disappointed by this planer.I have been adding on a sun room on to the back of the house. Most of the lumber was good grade but as I was getting close to the end I decided to use some old lumber I had in the garage instead of buying more. A few of the 2x4s I used were a little warped and twisted. I went a head and used them for the framing on the old brick wall. When putting up the paneling I noticed the twisting was worse than I thought. Thinking how to work around this I decided to use the planer. This resulted in planing almost 2/3rds the thickness (and very quickly)for about 2 1/2 feet, but hey it worked well.Since then I have used this several times on different projects. I feel that if you buy this planer instead of any one of the more expensive big name brands you will not be disappointed. I would buy this same one again if needed.

I had to replace 2 full size hanging doors from wood blanks and fit them to size. A small hand planer is all I own and had ever used in the past, so after a few days of online research and visiting hardware stores to compare power planers I decided the Wen 6530 gave me the best bang for my buck. Amazon had the best price and the tool arrived within 2-3 days. This planer had the best features for the money, such as number of depth stops, total depth level, dust bag, kick stand; plus it has a 6 amp motor compared to 5 amps on nearly everything else I saw within earshot of the price range. It made short work of the planing job on the doors and cut my time to a fraction of what a hand planer would have taken. It is easy to use right out of the box, even for a novice. The instructions are clear and straightforward, and the cost was slightly more than a good hand planer. The dust bag will fit on either right or left side with the flip of a switch. It fills up quickly and is a bit of a pain to empty and clean, but it still helps leave the work area much cleaner than no bag at all and it works about as well as any electric tool I've ever used that didn't have air suction to remove the chips. I'm not sure how durable the tool would be on a construction job, but overall, for a "do-it-yourself-er" like me; it is plenty durable and powerful enough, so I'm happy to have it in my tool arsenal and highly recommend this tool for its performance and value.

I got this planer last week because I was building a deck. I needed a planer because some of the wood 4x4's wouldn't line up flush with each other. I planed the 4x4's and then they lined up perfectly with each other. This planer was so easy to use. It only took me a minute to plane each problem area. This tool saved me a lot of manual labor.

Wow! This machine does the job!
I had a sticky wooden door that needed planing at least 1/8" all the way down one side. After beating my brains out forever trying to do it with a with a rasp plane, I gave up in frustration and copped this thing. I fired it up, did one pass at 1/8" depth, and another at 1/32" depth--done in 30 seconds! Easy as butter! It left a nice smooth finish on the wood for painting, too.
Only one little gripe, but I imagine it's common to most power planers: The bag that catches the shavings fills up fast and is kind of a hassle to empty. And a lot of shavings flew out the other side of the planer, so I still had shavings all over the floor.
No biggie; I still give it 5 stars for the price. This thing is a real time and labor saver.
Note: The directions said there was a supplied wrench to install the blade. On mine, there was no wrench, but the blade was already in place and ready to go. I just plugged it in and got to it.
Highly recommended!

Plenty of power, , heavy enough to be stable, operation very straightforward. I use it for leveling chunks of logs cut by chainsaw.

I didn't have high expectations. I'm familiar with cheap tools and that's what I expected as this tool isn't very expensive. From that perspective, this was much better than I expected... and represents a great value.
It doesn't feel or look 'cheaply made'. When it powers up, it's smooth and didn't bog down under a 'medium' cut in very hard wood. It's very easy to control and didn't give any indication that it wanted to kick back.
It is a 'skill tool'. Unlike a stationary planer which cuts exactly as set... this will cut wherever you put it.
Still, on my first use it did exactly what I needed, quickly and easily.
My specific need (the reason for the purchase) was that I recently got a new set of raised panel bits and didn't notice that I hadn't 'raised the panel' high enough. This left the backside about 3/32" 'proud' of the rails and stiles. Being 26" wide, I didn't have any tool that could easily remove that much wood. My stationary planer is only 16" wide, a belt sander would take half a day... I was considering dozens of passes with a router... changing the setup in between each cut.
In thinking about how it could be done... I remembered seeing 'these' before... and considering I've never needed one before... didn't want to spend a lot of money.
In solid red oak, full width, 1/32" cuts, this just zipped through. Probably less than five minutes of 'cutting time'.
I made about 3 gallons worth of chips... and the included dust bag... holds about 2 cups. So, that's pretty much worthless... but that was a minor issue... one I can solve with a dust collector adapter.
As soon as I finished... I saw another application (the edge of the same panel) and it made short work of that too.
I'm sure I'll be using this a lot more.

Works like a charm, blade is sharp. I am using it on pallet wood and it creates a nice smooth layer. Makes very old looking wood like new. I am very happy.

Removes wood like lightning. Was indespensible in the building of my 15 foot wooden boat...lot's of planning.

This thing is legit and WEN stands behind their products. I thought I could get replacement blades from harbor freight don't do it they will NOT FIT.
This thing chews threw wood! I used it to plane what i thought was hardwood floor and remove mastic glue. The blades last a good while and probably longer if i didn't hit glue and nails periodically.
I ordered some blades direct from WEN and just asked for some blade retaining bolts cause the provided wrench can and will round them off. They were awesome and just threw them in with my package.
Take your time on blade flipping or new replacements and get this thing straight with a straight edge. there are 2 hex adjusters and you want that blade perfectly straight or it will gouge the wood bad. Over all very impressed with it.
I did eat the cord so be aware of where it is at all times. I did some surgery and did tear it down and had to fix another connection issue in the trigger but again this is a sweet planer for the price.
Oh and wear ear protection when its eating wood its mind numbing loud! and the vacuum switch port is awesome cause it will bury you in sawdust/wood chips without a shopvac hooked up.

I never thought about buying a wood planer but recently i built an enclosure for putting my trash cans outside the huose, one of the doors was jamming, this thing goes through wood like butter.
I am not a carpenter and this may not be a professional grade tool but for less than forty bucks this thing is just amazing.
