This is truly an excellent set and a great value but several of the blades are not marked at all. Also, the back of the package (not the box, but the package the whole thing comes in) is just a tiny bit misleading.
Let me see if I can explain this. On the back, there is an illustration explaining what each blade and handle does. As you can see in the product photo, there is a blade attached to each handle. On the back, it tells you what blades those are on each handle (which are #1, #2 and #5 blades). To the right of that, there is a list of the additional blades in the top portion of the product photo. There it lists the #2 blade again, but not #1 nor #5. At first glance, this makes you think that there are two #2 blades to be found, but instead there are two #11 blades, which it doesn't mention at all. That's a minor thing, but for newbs may be slightly confusing.
One thing I wish it had, was a "map" insert of what each blade is. You know, kind of like what a box of Valentine's Day chocolates has, that describes what each chocolate is. If the blade and knife holders had been white, it would have been easy to simply write it somewhere, but it's black. Only paint can be used on black.
I ended up writing the blade number on the wood on the inside of the box, along the edge, just below each blade and to the left of the knives. I used a fine point Sharpie.
The box is fantastic! It's wood and quite durable looking. It has a closure that is way tight. It took me a few tries to get it to close fully. That bad boy is NOT going to open accidentally... EVER. lol!
All in all I'm very pleased with it and expect them to last for many years.

These are a very useful and versatile set of tools. I originally bought them for make it easier to split, cut, propagate plants. Some are pretty think and normal utility blades cut well one and get rusty fast.
These are awesome! Slide like butter through the plants which is good. Cleaner cuts means faster growth. They are holding up incredibly well with how often they get wet and just air-dry. Haven't notice any rust spots forming yet.
Not why I'm sure most people are buying this but if you do what I do these make your job easier

Good selection of X-acto blades for multi-purposes. Perfect for my hobby requirements to trim/carve/score/hollow foam padding with precision for presentation cases since it provides light/medium/moderate heavy duty cutting blades and handles. You may need to replace frequently used blades due to long term usage (sharpness/dulling) but replacements are available individually.

Great little kit. Just know that the handles only fit in the the box with the blades that come pre-installed. If you switch blades, you'll have to switch back before it will sit in box properly again.

Love this. I've used it many times since purchasing and will continue to do so. The magnetic strip that holds all of the available tips never stays in place, but I think I'll just glue that strip in there. Love these though and didn't realize how much I'd use them, but it's a lot!

There's a blade (or blades) for every purpose. I'm using it to cut Darice Foamie sheets into shoe soles for AG dolls. I put a piece of glass down on the table and then just trace around the pattern with the knife. Works great! The box is well made and I can tell it will last.

I ordered this xacto set as it seemed more stable then the one-offs i have been buying... i tend to put things throug their paces!
The item was shipped well, the product was well product and undamaged - always a plus right?
One of my favorite things about this set is the case - it makes for hassle free storage, just close it and put it in the shelf or in a bag and BOOM you're done. 2nd positive to this set is the variety that comes with the blades and 3 "handles" ... the wealth of options these provide make it easy to tailor the "knife" you are using to the project you are working on.
Having tried many blades I have found that once secured properly in the handles each cuts well (very sharp, watch out!), clean and with ease.

I got these mostly for cutting leather projects because I liked a set that my mom had like this--only hers was 40 years old. These seem to have the same good quality and work great for what I've needed them for so far.

Excellent offering. Typical Xacto-quality handles, which means good quality, and the wooden box has been great. The tools and blades are set in a flimsy plastic holder which sucks, but given that this kind of thing is for careful precision work, the normal slow patience one practices when using these kinds of things makes it kinda irrelevant. You get the blades you see in the picture, but only one of each kind...which is actually plenty for the price of this set and the quality. I haven't tried, but I think you could fit at least one more blade of each type in each of the storage slots. Maybe two more, IDK.
I've used mine extensively since I bought it and haven't regretted it. Had and used Xacto products for most of my life and will continue to do so based on the quality I still see.

I've only used this once on my FOOT! And YES - I know I have to be REALLY careful but seems to me that this is just about the same thing that the podiatrist uses to trim the callus between my toe (no $40 co-pay). If you do this, use** CAUTION, CAUTION, CAUTION **!! Other than that, I can't wait to use the set for arts & craft projects (after cleaning, of course!). :)
