I bought this because I am working out of town and needed to do some metal work. I had one of the Milwaukee 12V drivers with 2 batteries, so I bought this as a companion. Great choice; it's a lot more substantial than any of the 4 Dremels I have already. Solid feel, good balance. I broke in the bearings before I used it for the first time, and it has a LOT less bearing noise/vibration than any of the Dremels. It is a good tool. I've used to cut down some large, 1/4" thick meat cleavers to a smaller size to suit use on sashime, it never got too hot to use, even though it took 2 full battery charges to finish each cleaver (battery ran for 45-50 minutes straight each at med-high speed, turning metal cutter wafer discs). Great tool, highest recommendation.

This tool is light weight, and powerful. This was an upgrade from a Dremel cordless for me and it is a night to day difference. For longer cutting time in 1/8" or thicker steel you will need an extended battery, but the standard battery will do just fine otherwise. A+ for this tool.

I had some bad luck with Dremel so I decided to try another brand. I was not disappointed. This thing rocks.
To Dremel's credit, when I told them how little their product lasted (not very long), they sent me their latest one and it is probably as good as the Milwaukee, but the advantage to the Milwaukee is you don't have to plug it in, which can be a pain sometimes. Depending on your needs, I can now recommend both the Dremel and the Milwaukee. My personal feeling is that the dust from the grinding process is what kills these tools. Too bad they don't have one that somehow captures all the dust that they make, so it doesn't go straight into where the motor is located. This can't be good for the stator and rotor or the bearings. Maybe they will read this and one of them will make a big leap ahead of their competition.

The Milwaukee rotary tool is one of the best and greatest tools I've owned and I'm 58 years old! I've cut copper pipe, cut down an HVAC air grill, trimmed aluminum extrusions This tool is must to have! Ordering/delivery/shipping all fast and timely. THANKS!

Hold everything. I was using a more common brand of rotary tool but the lithium battery went kaput. All told, I was never that impressed with the cordless "Some Other Brand" and was going to buy a corded model by the same manufacturer. Then, somehow I stumbled across this wonderful tool.
Let's face it. A Milwaukee is a tough tool. I've never been disappointed in any Milwaukee tool.
So I bought this.
Strength: nothing corded or cordless have ever worked better for me. This is one powerful tool. Nicely, I can change out the battery for fresh power instead of stopping and waiting for an internal battery to charge. I've used oversized abrasive cutting discs and sliced through 1/2 and 3/4 copper pipe with no sweat. I've used this to buff, cut, drill, grind, and other uses, and it takes all I dish out and keeps on going.
I'm impressed.

Like many other reviewers, I purchased this bare tool to replace a cordless Dremel, that supplements my corded Dremel, depending on the task at hand.
With other Milwaukee M12 equipment in the toolbox, it made sense for me to make the change in order to share a common battery type.
For all intents, the Milwaukee and Dremel are interchangeable, in that all of the bits and collets are interchangeable. Both have a reasonable range of speed control, and both tend to get bogged down at lower speeds (i.e. lack of torque -- and that's where I reach for the corded Dremel).
Cordless Dremel models come with a variety of features, and the one that annoyed me was the combined rotary on/off/speed control switch. The Milwaukee thankfully does away with that, making the power switch a separate slider vs. the speed control.
For the bare tool, inside the retail packaging you'll find the 1/8" collet, collet nut, shaft, shaft screw, and a cut-off disc. Other than the instructions, that's it -- no case or bag, no extra bits.

I have other Milwaukee battery powered tools that I like so I had to try this one. This one is no exception. Feels solid, adjustable speed and it uses the dremel attachments. I have already used it a number of times and I really like the portability.

This is a great addition to your 12v milwaukee set up. I have a dremel corded tool. However to have cordless ability and ability to interchange dremel bits. This thing is great. I use it all the time in my plumbing repair buisness. It isnt any more powerful than a corded dremel but its great. I cut a #4 piece of rebar sticking out of a customers driveway the first day. Since then i find myself reaching for it all the time.

I use this to cut in electric door strikes for card access systems. This will outlast the 'D' brand hands down and with the 4.0 battery you can cut a lot before recharge. Being cordless is great. The Milwaukee brand is one of the best in the market. You can also use the Drimel attachments in this.

Bought this as part of a larger kit which got me into the m12 line. By far my biggest deciding factor was the vast array of tools that the m12 battery system supports. So here's the rundown:
-Works with all dremel accessories
-Has a wide speed range
-Ergonomics are OK, not great, but perfectly usable.
-Even standard battery lasts a good amount of time
-Strong manufacturer support (milwaukee is great at standing behind their products)
The battery is one of the biggest strong suits, i cut about 2 feet of tile/porcelain with the special bit(a long slow process), with plenty of juice to spare.
The control wheel for the speed is a little clunky, but works and holds its speed securely.
If you're already invested in the m12 line, it's a no brainier to get this over another brand rotary tool
