Milwaukee Electric Tool Corporation introduces the industry's first M12 Copper Tubing Cutter, specifically designed for cutting copper with the speed and versatility that plumbers, mechanical contractors and remodelers require. With a 12-Volt LITHIUM-ION battery and ultra efficient gearing, the 2471-22 performs over 200 cuts on a single charge. A close-Quarter rotating head cuts installed copper tubing with as little as 1-1/2-Inch of clearance. At 500 RPM, the patent pending cutting mechanism cuts copper tubing up to 10X faster than conventional cutters and automatically adjusts diameter to cut through 3/8" – 1" copper tubing (1/2-Inch – 1 1/8" OD, Type K, L and M). The inline design offers greater reach and reduced wrist strain in confined spaces. The metal cutting head is corrosion and rust resistant and is sealed for protection from water. Electronic overload protection and uni-body construction provide exceptional durability. Additional features include a battery fuel gauge, which displays the remaining run-time and a built-in LED work light which illuminates the work surface. Backed by Milwaukee's 5-Year tool warranty.

It self-adjusts to various pipe sizes. Look through a window (conveniently built into the tool head) to see exaclty where your pencil mark is on the pipe. An LED illuminates the mark to increase accuracy of your cut. Pull the trigger, and in a few seconds one pipe is two.
It is really shines when you have to cut pipe that is in place, like between studs in a finished wall. The only option used to be a Sawzall, which leaves a ragged edge that had to be dressed with a file. No more. This baby will chop it in no time, and it leaves a clean cut! I was remodeling some pipe in an attic recently and it worked like a dream.
I still keep my trusty Ridgid (manual) pipe cutter handy, but lately it never comes out of my tool pouch.
It seems pretty well built, and will stand up to lots of use. I HIGHLY recommend this tool! ;-)

Very good product. Quite a time saver. Also allows significantly more close quarters access than a standard manual pipe cutter and much faster than a close-cutting hand turned pipe cutter.
Pays for itself quickly.

I bought the Milwaukee pipe cutter from Amazon because it was about $5.00 cheaper than other retailers but the real savings was in the free shipping.
For those of you who don't like a Milwaukee tool made in China, this tool is not for you.
Like my other ancient Milwaukee tools I accumulated over time, this tool has the typical Milwaukee heavy-duty-feel feed-back: it feels solid and sturdy, balanced weight distribution, and industrial performance. The tool quickly cuts my 3/4" copper pipe without fanfare, leaving a smooth cut. I doubt I will ever go back to using a manual cutter. As with almost all Milwaukee tools, this tool is well conceived and executed -- which is why I seldom deviate from the Milwaukee brand. Whether you are doing a small piping job as a DIY or as a tradesman, this Milwaukee pipe cutter will make your job go easier.

I absolutly love the M12 tools. I am a master plumber working in new construction. I use them daily and don't know how I ever got along with out them. Time is money to me and these tools save tons of time. I use the PVC shears and the drill much more than the copper cutter with most of my water pipe being PEX. How ever the times I work with copper I always grab this tool and fly through cutting. Reaching into joist spaces and tight cabinets with the old hand crank cutters was often a chore that left me with bleeding knuckels.. not anymore. These things are well worth the investment for me.

Holy crap i didnt know they have been making this so long but if you cut copper tubing you should do yourself a favor and get this. I am a master plumber and i am so mad noone told me this thing was so awesome, talk about a time and energy saver. I love this tool.

i didn't buy this tool through amazon....Home Depot is cheaper @ $99 for the bare tool and as I have most of the other M12 tools including the propex expander I didn't need one more charger
I was initially skeptical that it would wind up being a rarely used novelty, but have used it almost exclusively on a recent large residential project. That's a lot of cuts from 1 inch on down, and one battery charge to boot
It's worth a hundred bucks to me in wrist aches

Works better than expected, a great specialty tool in the M12 line. With the speed and ease if cutting, plus the good close quarters access, I haven't found a need to go back to the manual tubing cutter. A great addition if you are already into the M12 system.

I was working at a commercial job removing baseboard heaters. We had 200-300 cuts that needed done from 3/4"-1" copper pipes. Some pipes were right up against the wall and had little play. This tool took a job that should have been 2-3 days and turned it into a 1 day job. I was beating a guy with a sawzall who was just hacking pipes. The majority of the cuts had to be clean so we could solder on caps. They guy I was working with went out and bought his own after using mine. This tool is a must have for anyone who cuts copper pipe on a regular basis. I wish Milwaukee would make another model that could do smaller than 1/2" and larger than 1-1/4". Then AC and most residential boiler installs would be covered. Easy to use and fast. Love my tubing cutter. Can't imagine a job without it.

best copper cutter ever! it misfires on 1/2" if you arent perfectly aligned but just takes some getting used too. really makes for a productive day when you are doing alot of small copper.

I've done over 100 cuts so far and it works great! I will be buying more for my workers.
