This vacuum works great. I find that it works well even as the batteries are going down. It does eat batteries pretty quickly but I'm able to get everything done I need. I also vacuum more often now that I have it. One thing to keep in mind is that is does not come with batteries. It really only makes sense to buy it if you are already invested in Milwaukee tools.

This is definitely the Milwaukee Tool quality that I have come to respect. It has plenty of pick-up power and best of all it works with my 18V Compact Li-ion batteries that came with my drill (It also works on 18V Ni-Cad batteries as well). The battery bay has two different mounts that allow the use of either style Milwaukee 18V battery (however, only one battery can be used at any given time). It has a float inside the pick-up chamber that turns it off if too much water comes in. The hose and cabinet are made from heavy duty material making it great for rugged use. It comes with two small wands one of which is for cracks and crevices and the other for general pick up. These are kept nicely tucked away under the lid in their perspective storage areas. The only thing I wish they would have added is a small brush attachment but that is a minor thing. My wife has already snagged it to use on the carpeted steps because of how easy it is to use. Very pleased indeed!

Since I already own several Milwaukee 18V cordless tools and 2 batteries, this was a fantastic addition. For small jobs, this thing can't be beat. Lightweight, sturdy, extremely portable, great suction, good attachments. For jobs like vacuuming the car, picking up sawdust or drywall, and other small projects around the house, this is the first vacuum I go to. It's very well made, and I'm actually really impressed with the hose on it - really high quality and it stretches to probably 5 feet or so, but re-coils nicely. Much better quality than any typical wet/dry vac hose. And since it's a standard 1 1/4 hose, you can add a variety of additional attachments. Plus, you can use it as a blower too.
I have no idea what the continuous run-time is, I haven't used it for more than about 5 minutes straight. But, on a single V18 battery, I can use it intermittently for several weeks (1-2 minutes at a time every 3rd or 4th day) before I need to recharge the battery. This vacuum is compatible with all 4 versions of Milwaukee 18V batteries (V18, M18, M18 compact, and NiCad).
3 limitations: 1.) It's cordless, so don't expect to run it for a half hour straight and vacuum your entire house. 2.) To make it so portable, the storage for the attachments is small. It will only hold the 2 attachments it comes with, so if you add anything else (like a brush tool), you'll need to store them separately. 3.) It's got a special lock-in hose, so you can't take any 1 1/4" shop-vac hose and plug that in.
For what it's worth, my wife rolled her eyes when she saw this show up (thought I was just buying another toy). But she had to admit that she loves this thing now too. Keeps it in the hall closet and it's the first thing she grabs to vacuum up the cat litter off the floor.
If you have the batteries already, it's a great addition. But if you're just looking for a portable vacuum, this is probably close to a $150 investment by the time you're done (just look at the "frequently bought together" section of this page).

Can vacuum a whole car on one charge. It's very convenient when you don't feel like going for a power cord. The product was too costly when it came out, now it's priced more fair. It's a bit loud, however that is because it is powerful, so, i'm completely happy with the product.

To be a 5-star item it takes a combination of great execution and/or being a really useful unique product. When I first received this item I almost questioned the first.
First, this is surprisingly large. To give you a clue it comes with a warning not to sit on it which exists for a reason - you might be tempted (and probably could). The design is good but it's simply not as tight as it could have been - it's great that there's room to stow two included nozzles but unfortunately they didn't include one or two more or provide a more protected spot for the hose - I think with a bit of extra design time they could have worked it out.
Otherwise the design is simple and solid. Large plastic clips lock the top hatch down and hold the top half (the motor) to the bottom half (tank). Note that you can actually reverse their orientation so the hose holder is on the outlet side. This might cause confusion if you reverse it accidentally like I did.
Where this thing shines is in it's utility and that's where it continually surprised. I just don't know of any other products this useful and powerful that are portable. In the two weeks I've had it it's followed me into the car, around the house as I've been doing electrical work, onto my roof to clean up after some chimney work and of course up and down the stairs. I've sucked up tons of dirt, gravel and rocks, a broken glass on the deck and simply find myself reaching for it constantly. It's not quite as powerful as the miele, but it's close enough most of the time.
As others have said, this thing sucks up the batteries. 10 minutes is just about right for the smaller battery so prepare to ration it's use and/or charge a lot. That's about one or two car vacuuming depending on how often you shut it down. The larger battery is obviously better and with that I don't find myself worrying about rationing.
The bottom line is that this is a 5-star item. Few things quite like it exist and there is little doubt that if you own it you'll be happy with it.

So I came back to say that this is honestly one of my most used tools. Think about it this way - every job uses a different set of tools but almost every job makes a mess, So this is needed all the time. Combine that with general use around the house/car/boat and it's great. Battery life in practice hasn't been a problem at all although I've pretty much dedicated the high capacity 18V to this tool and this tool alone.

I love Milwaukee tools but this was an unexpected surprise getting a blower, and a wet/dry vac with more power than you would ever expect in a cordless. But I have many Milwaukee Red Lithium Ion tools and they all are surprisingly powerful.
This vacuum does everything you will ask and more. not heavy and I find it great for even doing the around the house corner and under the tables and edges vacuuming.
I saw reviews about it being louder and I had to laugh. It is a portable that you are only going to use for 5 or 10 minutes at a time.
It isn't even as loud as most children and adults play their stereo. So do not worry about the noise.
Great purchase and I bought two for friends.
Thanks,
Bill

As a contractor who does a lot of small quick jobs, this is a great vac. I keep 6 batteries on my truck at all times and run a power inverter, so they are always charged and ready to go. I use this vac constantly for small quick clean up jobs. It comes with the basic tool and is quick and easy to set up. The run time is about 14 minutes, so it's perfect for those quick in and out jobs and doesn't take up much space at all on the truck.

Good portable mini-vac. I have been using a ShopVac Hangup for 10 years or so and finally got tired of being tethered to wall outlets. Since at this point all of my battery powered hand tools are Milwaukee 18v, I was pretty much locked in to Milwaukee. So, while I have no other cordless Wet/Dry to compare to, I am completely satisfied with this one.
The 1 1/4" hose hangs off the side in its own cradle on the intake side (but you can also plug it into the exhaust. The hose stays attached because it uses a twist-lock system. The crevice tool and utility wand fit in the top compartment along with the battery dock. This accepts both Milw. 18v. ni-cad and 18v. li-ion batteries (they have different mounts in the dock). The hose and attachments were the same size as my Hang-up, and will accept the same attachments. The filter is high-quality (mfgr claims HEPA rating), but more important to me it is reusable and washable, unlike the Hang-up.
his unit is somewhat noisy as there is no exhaust muffler. If you're used to standard Shop-Vacs, you'll be able to tolerate this portable - it's not as loud as any of my 3 full-size ShopVacs. The suction is about the same as the Hang-up and fully adequate for occasional light vacuuming (e.g., auto carpets, cat litter spills, sawdust, etc. I've used it on the small li-ion packs for 4-5 minutes or so and still had battery power in reserve. I have no idea how long battery packs would last, but it's more than enough for my applications.
This vac does not come with battery or charger, and does not have a cord, so it's appeal will be primarily to those of us who use other Milwaukee 18v products.

This Milwaukee M18 Cordless Vacuum is awesome! I have a couple M18 Red Lithium batteries (larger capacity version) I use with it and it does run the juice out of em pretty quick. However, I am yet to use a full charge in one setting of me using the vacuum. I can thoroughly clean out my car and still have a little power to spare not much though. This vacuum is great for numerous things. I've used it to clean my car, desk, carpet (if I really feel motivated), virtually anything that needs cleaned. If you buy the Shop-Vac Micro cleaning set it comes with an attachment that I can hook up to the vacuum and one tool has a brush on the end of it that cleans my computer perfectly. Not only does it clean the top of the computer but it gets down in between and under the keys. This is probably my favorite use of the M18 vacuum. I read one reviewer saying that he blow dryed his car...I tried that and I really didn't have much luck at all. It's powerful but not THAT powerful. That's the only thing I've found that it cannot do. This is a great tool to add to your Milwaukee M18 collection. After you get done making a mess with all the other M18 tools you can use this to clean up. Works great! I highly recommend it. However, if you only have one of the smaller capacity M18 batteries I would highly recommend buying another because your only gonna get approx 5-10 min max with that battery.

I love this thing for cleaning the car! Just grab it and go, rather than carry the huge house vacuum down, find an outlet, fight with cables and hoses... This thing is easy to pick up and get to where you need it, and even though the hose is quite short, it gets into every place you need it.
Battery life is ok, an XC battery lasts about 10 minutes, but the standard batteries are somewhat useless. I went through one XC and two standard batteries on a thorough cleaning of my car. Just enough juice to get through. You definitely need to be careful to turn the vacuum off when you're not actively using it, because there's not much battery life to spare.
The suction is great, on par with a household vacuum. Dust busters are simply useless compared to this.
I'm in love with Milwaukee lithium tools! If you have xc batteries, or a bunch of standard batteries, I'd recommend this. Having only two standards would not be enough to clean a whole car IMO and would be frustrating. If you had to buy batteries and a charger to run this, it would be way too expensive for my taste.
Two things I wish for:
1. Two speeds to extend the battery - for most things half the suction power would be enough.
2. A rotating brush.
