I started wrenching cars in the late 70's when air ratchets had not even been released for the most part.. If you are new to powered ratchets, much of my opinion is not going to make any sense to you but I think that this would be a nice unit for even those without any experience with air ratchets. Keep in mind, you do NOT run fasteners down tight at full throttle on the vast majority of devices as they can typically break, strip or otherwise destroy a fastener (as they should in my opin.. weakling air tools are useless in the profession)
20+ years as a professional wrench and garage owner, I have had literally dozens of air ratchets (any pro knows that 3/8 variety are simply disposable items after X amount of use) I now have my first battery powered unit.
First off, 1/4 ratchets are pretty reliable (air powered) and I would expect that the mechanics of this unit are at least similar in design. The feel of the mechanism to reverse the unit feels pretty much the same as any if not a touch smoother.. There is also a safety lock at the front of the trigger which may be of questionable value but suppose a good idea..
Size: this was my biggest worry and it is considerably larger than any 1/4 drive air ratchet and probably pretty darn similar in size to a 3/8 unit. BUT dont let that put you off.. the lack of the hose more than makes up for this. (more in a moment)
Torque control is at least as easy also if not more so than any air unit.. Obviously, this is not a monster torque device to start with and you would not want it to be. I have used it to tear down a couple dash boards and working on motorcycle fairing/coolers removal and so far? love it!! I get tired of greasy air hoses mucking up surfaces as well as just plain being in the way.. The lack of a 50 foot hose hooked to one end is really nice change when you can just grab and hit the traditional lever to go.
The battery seems pretty smallish but so far pretty durable (no need to change mid job anyway).. Always good to have a spare anyway
As stated earlier, torque control is pretty straight forward and easy to moderate. It wont compensate for the dope that fly's it full bore on a tiny machine screw but then again, if it did, it would likely be pretty useless to a guy that knows how to run an air ratchet to start with..
Now is it worth the price? Dunno.. but we spend $200 on screwdrivers when we could buy them for $15.. I will not be returning this new toy...
My suggestion is to keep this thing handy for "in car" work and leave the air powered unit on the bench for easy access jobs..

One of the guys at the body shop had one and used it quite a bit then another guy got one so I checked it out myself and bought one. Really glad I did it is so handy. Breaks nuts and bolts loose I never thought it would. There is no clutch to stop the spin when you let off of the trigger but it is not hard to get used to. The trigger is variable and controllable and the work light is bright The light comes on at the touch of the trigger, which helps light the area to find the bolts, and stays on for a few seconds after it is released. We all like it for getting into tight areas like wheel well areas etc. The low rpm is a good balance between power and speed. I highly recommend this for anyone who uses ratchet wrenches and just dislikes air hoses. Enjoy, Gary

This arrived two days after I ordered it, way earlier than the order specified. It also came with two batteries, not just one, making it a great value compared to buying anywhere else. I was considering buying one from Snap-on, but theirs was a little larger and heavier, also a couple hundred bucks more expensive. One thing I love about this is the LED: it comes on when you hit the trigger and stays on for about ten seconds, making it easier to line up with fasteners in dimly lit places like car interiors. I would almost trade out all my small cordless impacts and drivers for M12 tools because of this feature.

When I bought this, I thought I was buying a 3/8 inch ratchet wrench. What a dummy! Oh well. I ordered the 3/8 version driver only and kept this one thinking that maybe I would need it for something. Before the 3/8 version had even showed up, I found myself using this 1/4 inch version on several things ranging from one of my lawnmowers to my 3D printer! The little light is incredibly handy and it stays on for a few seconds after you release the trigger. this thing is very compact in terms of getting close to the nut or bolt with the tool and not needing a lot of clearance. And of course I never ran out of battery. In case you haven't noticed, this is the only power ratchet that is not shaped like a power drill. It is well balanced and really easy to handle.
I had the feeling when I bought these that they would be easier to use then a regular ratchet. I was totally right. The hand ratchets have slowly moved to the back of the socket drawer in my toolbox. These things have totally replaced them.

This is a wonderful tool! When my quarter inch air ratchet finally gave up the ghost, I decided to try a cordless one. I use this tool everyday in the body shop and it has all the torque I need and the battery last quiet along time. I am hooked on Milwaukee tools and would recommend this tool I purchased to anyone. Great price for such a good quality tool.

These ratchets are really a great tool. The battery is small but lasts a long time. Good for getting into tight places where a air hose would get in the way of a regular air ratchet. I really like mine and my friends on the job like theirs. Which is where I learned about the ratchet.

I've been a professional technician for over 10 years and had always used a 1/4" air ratchet when needed. Always thought the battery powered ones were either too big or too expensive. I was wrong on both counts. It's a bit bigger than an air powered ratchet but when you take away an air hose, it makes a huge difference. This thing has enough torque in on/off as most air ratchets and has at least enough battery power to last a solid day. I just wish I had bought one of these sooner! Great tool for the money and the warranty is outstanding (if I ever need it)!

I love not having an air hose to drag around. This cordless ratchet has more power than you will ever need. I use it every day. So I bought six other tools in the M12 series. Every tool I have bought exceeds my expectations. Well worth the money.

This tool has made the disassembly of my 6.0 Powerstroke induction system a breeze! It is slim enough to get into tight spaces and has more than enough torque to remove all but the most stubborn fasteners. Battery life is well above average and if a recharge is needed, the supplied charger quickly replenishes the battery.
