The Rockwell RK3441K Compact 4-1/2-inch Circular Saw is a powerful and functional circular saw which can replace the oversized 7-1/4-inch circular saws. No need for a bulky circular saw when the Compact Circular Saw will cut 2x4s and sheet goods in the same amount of time with ease and comfort thanks to its lightweight and compact design. A lot of jobs go quicker without having to drag out the big heavy circular saw. Most cuts made with circular saws are on materials less than 2" thick. With the Rockwell Compact Circular Saw, you can tackle the job with ease, comfort and control with just one hand. The slim grip handle improves comfort and enhances grip and control allowing you to guide the saw with just one hand. Operation is quick, easy and much more maneuverable for making cut-offs, plunge cuts and rips.

I've used a larger 7 1/2 inch Dewalt circular saw for years. But now it's getting cobwebs because of this Rockwell RK3441K compact saw. This compacts saw is so darn handy, lays easily in my tool bag, is more convenient than my larger traditional circular saw to tot around that it's becoming my go-to saw for small to intermediate cuts in wood and metal.
It has a nice /precise /quality rip fence and angle cut feature and the knobs are quick and secure to set any angle cut. I particularly love the blade being on the left side of the drive. This dramatically increased my vision over the cut so it's safer, more accurate, user friendly and better results.
My hands are average size (size 8-9 glove size Large) and I find the grip size /surface & design easy to hold on to and user friendly. For small hands this might be a challenge. The trigger pull is less complicated that other saws this size with makes this model Rockwell easier to operate and control while cutting than all other saws this size...in my opinion.
The blade turns as a slower RPM than my full size Dewalt, but if you slow down your feed this saw handles anything I throw it's way giving a clean crisp cut and does not bog down. For big tough jobs simply use a bigger saw. The blade I found Best for all around cuts in wood /metal /longevity was a Freud D0436X Diablo 4-3/8-Inch 36 Tooth ATB Cordless Trim Saw Blade that I've used with no issues at all.
I am not easy to impress, but this compact medium duty Rockwell has earned its way into my inner circle of tools. I am Very pleased with the quality features, portability and durability of this handy saw. Recommend this without reservations and consider the hundred dollar cost a fair value.
----UPDATE----
Have used this Rockwell saw for several months now and and it's still rock solid. No issues at all. The adjustable guide fence is real handy,...quick and secure adjustment lever,...easy to make quick /secure fence adjustments.
I've also used this saw in unconventional situations where I had to remove material from wood in such a way I was able to turn the saw over, expose the blade and carefully angle the wood into the blade to free-hand & create a router type effect. It was the only way to finish a particular cut and this saw has the flexibility to help. Never know what you'll run into during a project and glad this saw has extra flexibility to adapt. Continues to earn my unqualified recommendation!

I was looking for a circular saw that was considerably smaller than my full-sized saw, to get into spots the big saw couldn't. This saw fits the bill perfectly. It is incredibly easy to adjust and easy to operate one-handed. But I'm not a big fan of the lock location. It's difficult for me to reach when using my left hand on the saw.

No really, in LOVE. In fact, last night I looked at my 7-1/4" worm drive Skil saw (which is also amazing) and realized that it's going to be neglected more often than not from now on. It took me a while to buy this product, due to conflicting reviews, but now I'm so glad I did. I would call myself an intermediate or advanced beginning woodworker--perhaps this review can help someone with my level of experience.
I did get the blade wobble and cutting misalignment, like some people noted, at first; in fact there were points where it was difficult to swivel the blade cover easily, or it would get stuck. I took the blade off to start over from scratch, and noticed that the inner and outer flange were magnetically attracted--in fact, they were stuck together so well that I hadn't noticed they were two separate pieces. I had both of them on top of the blade, which caused the blade to wobble. As soon as I put one underneath and one above, the magnetic attraction did its job--the blade no longer wobbled, the safety retractor slid like butter, and the saw cut a straight line like a boss.
Many reviewers talk about the safety button placement, and how it became a dealbreaker for them. Not so for me. I am used to holding a saw with two hands ("if both hands are on the saw, the saw can't cut you"). As a relative beginner, I am respectfully fearful of the destructive power of these machines. While I am able to depress the safety and trigger at the same time--even though, yes, it does feel rather awkward--I just use my left hand (which normally would sit on the motor housing ) to depress the button while my right hits the trigger. After some practice I was also able to hold the blade protector up while getting at the safety at the same time. Honestly, I love this saw so much that I don't care what it takes--I'll train myself to adapt to it.
Performance-wise, this thing can CUT. Beautifully straight lines. I used the marker at the front of the soleplate and noticed that it was cutting just outside the line into the waste lumber--which is what I was told to aim for. In my opinion, it works as well as my Skil saw, but doesn't scare me as much as that one does--and it's remarkably lighter, to boot. As an apartment dweller, my large Skil Saw seemed unwieldy and out of place, this one cuts just as well, feels just as powerful, yet it's pocket-sized and manageable.
I highly recommend this saw!

Been very happy with this saw. It will cut a 2 x 6 with ease, but I mostly use it with 1/2 and 3/4 MDF. It's light and much easier to use than a full size saw in these cases. The included guide made quick work of a full sheet of MDF that I used for some decorative molding, shown in the picture.

I bought this to replace a battery operated compact circular saw from Dewalt. It had been a good saw, but the battery drained easily so I was looking for a corded saw and this came up. Wish I had bought one of these years ago!
Here is a picture of my first project with this, a dock style deck over our dry bed. I put the boards down and zipped through the ends with this. Extremely happy with this saw. It cleans up easily and stores nicely. I bought a small duffle bag and it fits right in.
Highly recommended for small projects.

I got this saw to cut some 3/4" plywood that was 48" long. I have a small shop and have trouble making long cuts. I also have a larger circular saw that is great for carpentry and deck building, but weighs about 15 pounds. This saw did a great job on the plywood and using a Porter-Cable 4 1/2" 120 tooth blade, cut a straight edge with no splintering. The vacuum attachment really helps with the dust. Small, powerful and easy to handle. A great buy.

I purchased this along with a number of other tools to lay in a floor in my attic. I found myself using this tool before anything else if I need to cut anything and the job is almost completed. I could have made do with other tools but having this one made my life a lot easier. It did everything as advertised.

This tool was a lifesaver when I was working on my deck. I was able to cut the 2x's with ease after they were in place. Much more accuracy than a jigsaw and a lot easier to handle than my 8" circular saw. I was also able to set the depth just less than the depth of a 2x and cut just about through, right over the top of some support beams, and then finish them with a hand saw.
I had no experience whatsoever with any wobble once the saw is tightened down that another reviewer experienced. No need to replace anything with screws.
This saw has plenty of power. I did experience some kickback at times but that was from the kerf being pinched and nothing out of the ordinary. Saw is reasonably easy to control with one hand. Safety is nice.
I'd say this is of "professional amateur" quality. There are some plastic parts that might not hold up. Still, at the $79 price I got it at, this tool is a bargain.

I do not have many power tool since I am not your bob the builder DIY guys. I do have the need for more universal multi use type of tools to get simples jobs done. This Rockwell compact power tool is amazing. I learned the hard way that the blades that come with the tool is not for cutting vinyl or plastic. I ended up ordering a new blade to cut what I needed but I was really surprised how powerful this is. I'm sure I will have no problem cutting wood with it and with my 2nd blade I'll have broader cutting ability. I personally like the feature to connect my shop vac to the attachment that is on the power tool. Overall, I am very pleased with this purchase and will come in handy.
