My search for an inexpensive, lightweight "watering" hose found this. Yes, I know this is an air hose, but I figure if it can withstand the air pressure + the oil & water that a compressor pushes thru these hoses, what's a little water at 80 psi?
The pros:
+ Low cost of $9.99 with Amazon free shipping. I see this hose is going for $8.99 now, an even a better deal!
+ Pretty flexible.
+ Nice blue color.
+ The brass 1/4" NPT male fittings look to be solidly crimped on.
+ Advertised - Reinforced PVC hose.
+ Advertised - Oil & abrasion resistant.
+ Advertised - 3/8" x 25' long.
+ Advertised - Working pressure of 200 PSI. ◄ The hose I received is labeled 300 PSI working pressure.
+ Advertised - Brass 1/4" NPT male fitting at each end.
+ Advertised - One year warranty.
The cons:
- No fittings included, other than what's crimped on, you have to provide your own.
- Made in China. ◄ Not entirely a bad thing, but some may prefer made in USA.
Closing remarks:
▪ With the correct fittings, this low cost air hose can be used as a light weight watering hose. :)
▪ This air hose construction is reinforced PVC with brass 1/4" NPT male fittings, so nothing to rust.
▪ Odds are good the brass fitting on this hose are NOT lead free, so the water passing thru this lightweight water hose should not be used for potable water.
► Update - May 19, 2016
▪ I used this lightweight water hose today & I have to say it exceeded my expectations! It was noticeably lighter, but the water flow appeared to be as it was when I was using a standard 1/2" garden hose. :)
▪ The plan now is to make another lightweight watering hose in a 50' length. The holdup is the cost of the 2 brass fittings, which have doubled in price! :(
► Update - June 23, 2016
▪ I just made another "lightweight" watering hose using a 50' hose this time. I really like the watering hose I previously made with a 25' hose & I've been waiting for the 1/4" NPT female to 3/4" GHT (garden hose thread) to drop back to a reasonable price. They did & now I have a 50' "lightweight" watering hose for my backyard raised bed garden!
▪ The water flow is slightly less, but not an issue for my use. The reduced weight of the hose is VERY noticeable, as is the maneuverability of the smaller diameter hose!
The attached pictures show my finished lightweight watering hose. I used two 1/4" NPT female to 3/4" GHT (garden hose thread) male brass fittings & added quick connect hose fittings.
The black heat shrink tubing is used to cover the brass & to provide a bit more hose to fitting strain relief... plus it looks better! :)

This vinyl hose definitely serves its purpose and I am pleased wit it. It is less than half the price of a rubber hose. Since I only use the hose occasionally I felt I did not need a better one. This hose is durable but could be a little more pliable. If you use the hose a lot (like every day) it may be better for you to purchase a rubber hose.

I got this hose because the hose my compressor came with was not very long and would not reach everywhere i needed it too. With this hose i can reach everywhere i need to and dont have to move the compressor. IT easily reaches my vehicles in the driveway when i have a low tire. I would highly recommend getting this longer hose if you buy a compressor.

i picked up this hose to use with an old air compressor that i'd been given. i also grabbed this accessory kit and built a few accessories. the hose is sturdy and doesn't bind or catch, and the connectors snap in and swivel perfectly. in the cold temps of last week (~20 degrees) the hose was very stiff, but that's to be expected. this is a great product, and i can't imagine many others will beat it for the price.

Title says it all. Needed a hose that broke in the cold, this one fit the bill.
As others have said, it doesn't get as stiff in the cold as my old one (which snapped while trying to use it). So that is definitly a plus. The length is perfect for what I use it for, car tires, bikes, etc.

I bought this not for its full length, but split into two smaller hoses using Dixon BN32RU62 Brass Reusable Fittings. The reason I bought this hose is because I've bought it before several years ago for the same application and that first hose has never given me any troubles. It's a bright blue color and looks nice running through my garage. Matches well with all the Kobalt branded products.
The Dixon Fittings fit this product well and there were no air leaks. If you plan on doing the same with your hose, make sure to keep the cut nice and clean with little or no jagged edges. I placed the end of the cut hose on a sanding belt just to be safe.

I am so glad I bought this. It replaced the standard cheap plastic hose that came with the air compressor I purchased. This hose is high-quality and extremely durable. I have not experienced any issues or kinks in the hose.

This goes great with my new PORTER-CABLE PCFP02003 3.5-Gallon 135 PSI Pancake Compressor. What more can you say, it's a hose that does not leak and it brings air from my compressor to my nozzle and does not leak.

The one they give you when you buy an air compressor sucks so it's almost mandatory you buy this to replace it. The first one arrived with a manufacturer defect and leak and hissed. Within a day it was replaced by Amazon and I'm very happy now.

I purchased a Campbell Hausfeld compressior which came with the included curly hose that people, included me, don't like at all. Finally chose to spend a few bucks on this and am very pleased. It does have a very pungent plastic odor, and after you touch it, your hands smell very bad. Probably will wear off over time or can be wiped off. The length it perfect for going anywhere in my garage without having to pick up and move the compression, a few velcro strips and it is neatly rolled again.
