This Energizer RCL1NM2WR Rechargeable LED Flashlight can operate in two modes:
- In 'ON' or 'high-beam' mode, it projects a bright focused beam, which forms a circle of 3 ft diameter from a distance of 12 ft away. The light pattern is very similar to that from my Rayovac BRSLED2AA-B 2AA LED Flashlight, except the output from this Energizer flashlight is at least twice as bright when it is freshly charged.

- In 'nightlight' or 'low-beam' mode, the light is much dimmer, while the battery life is extended to 15 hours, instead of just 2-3 hours in full-power mode.

To use it as an emergency power failure light, you should leave this flashlight in 'ON' position, and plug it into an AC outlet. The light goes out while it is being recharged. But when the power goes out, or when you unplug it from the outlet, the light comes back on immediately.

You can also leave the unit in 'nightlight' mode while it is being recharged. But in this case, the flashlight remains on 24 hours a day since there is no light sensor. The light is actually too bright when used in bedroom. But it is just perfect for basement or hallways where you always need some illumination. Plus you'll never have to search for a flashlight again.

Some other points that I like:
- Unlike many other power failure lights, this one does NOT cover both AC outlets when it is plugged in.
- It can be mounted in either up or down directions.
- It only consumes 1W when recharging in nightlight mode.

There is one thing I don't quite understand: The flashlight is powered by a single NiMH button cell, Varta CP300H, with capacity of only 300mAh. It seems to me there is enough space to fit an AAA NiMH cell with capacity of 800+ mAh, or even an AA NiMH cell with capacity of 2000+ mAh. By doing this, the battery run time will be extended by several folds. But more importantly, I will be able to swap in alkaline cells when the rechargeable battery runs out!

On the other hand, the main purpose of this flashlight is just to help me find my other flashlights in case of a blackout. So for that I'm completely satisfied.

I highly recommend these, it's just like a little flash light that's always charged,
can be switched to automatically turn on if and when you loose power, and can also be
a nightlight. 3 great functions in one super bright LED light.

I purchased 4 of these for my home, one for each floor hallway and one for a bathroom
that doesn't have any windows and gets very dark at night, so the nightlight feature
was great and shines just enough with out being to bright. I've often thought about
what if I was in that bathroom and the power went out...Hmmm might bump into a lot of things
trying to find my way out and back down the hallway.

These are excellent!! Relatively small in size, fairly rugged, feels like good quality,
an LED light meaning it will run for hours and hours on a charge and wow they are extremely bright.

For me now if I need a flashlight I simply go to the outlet and it's always ready to go.
If the power fails during a storm, these automatically turn themselves on.
Great, no more bumping into things in the middle of the night or coming home to a completely
dark house if the power is out.

I've also discovered that even if I'm not at home and their is a power failure, people
still think I'm at home...my neighbor across the street saw the light on in my house during
a recent storm that hit the area that took down the power for about 3 or 4 hours, and thought
I was home .... Nice little security feature there I thought, if there is a light on inside the house,
probably means someone's at home...a criminal is probably going to think twice before breaking into a
home that's lit up when the power goes out.

I also found a little BONUS on these units (at least the ones I received)
A small door with a little screw holding it shut, on the opposite side as the switch.
When I removed the screw and used a screw driver to slide the door/pocket out, I found
a replaceable battery .. .BIG BONUS.. Now granted the battery is one I've never seen,
it's like a large oversized watch battery, but it's replaceable meaning you can purchase it
online for sure if not at your local battery store and you won't be throwing these devices
away if the battery no longer holds a charge...just replace the battery.

Previous devices, from other manufacturers that I've owned have been throw aways due to the units
being sealed shut, no way to open them without completely destroying the units.

I've had my units for nearly 3 years and during a recent power outage that lasted 3+ hours these units
were still going strong and were running at full brightness.

I live in an area where we see several power outages every year - the most recent one was when Hurricane Sandy passed by just three days ago. That's why I equipped the house with half a dozen emergency power failure lights, including this Eveready RCL1NM2WR Weather Ready Rechargeable LED Light.

The LED light can operate in two modes:
- In 'ON' or 'high-beam' mode, it projects a bright focused beam, which forms a circle of 3 ft diameter from a distance of 12 ft away.

We are avid campers and I am always looking for ways to reduce costs, so when I saw this rechargable flashlight I just had to give it a try. It produces enough light to be useful after dark and has saved me TONS of money on batteries. We can usually get through a whole weekend of camping without recharging it as there is usually a campfire at night and we really only need the flashlight for trips to the bathroom, short night hikes and to help find things in the tent after the sun has gone down. I've also found that it holds a charge for weeks at a time which has come in handy at home too.

I bought one of these a few months ago and after loosing power it worked flawlessly and I purchased another one. At only 8 Lumens, it's not the brightest flashlight out there, but it is enough light to help you find your way in the event of an outage.

PROs:
-Always ready to go and charged up
-Doesn't heat up when left plugged in
-Night Light feature is great when we have guests in the house and isn't too bright
-Can be plugged in with the light facing up or down
-Plug folds out of the way when using as a flashlight
-Plenty of battery life (mine lasted for over 3 hours)
-Put it where you need light during an outage

CONs:
-Only 8 Lumens, but it is bright enough to help you get the long-term lighting plan in place (candles, lanterns, bigger flashlights)

This is a great purchase and I may get a third to keep in the garage. I highly recommend.

The title of this product is a mouthful ("Energizer Products - Energizer - Rechargeable LED Flashlight, Silver/Gray - Sold As 1 Each - Let Weather Ready be the light in your preparedness plan for emergencies. - You'll be ready to light an entire room..."). But all you need to know is: this is the same Energizer Weather Ready Compact Rechargeable LED Light sold elsewhere for lower cost. My rating is for the product itself, not for the Amazon vendors.

== Start of actual review ==

I purchased two of those Energizer rechargeable LED flashlight (RCL1NM2WR) two years ago, and they have provided reliable services through several power outages. The light can operate in two modes:

Pros:
- It only takes up one outlet whether facing up or down, and will not block the other outlet.
- The design is sleek and compact, and comfortable to hold as a flashlight. The prongs can be retracted easily.
- Product works as advertised. When not plugged in, turn switch to "on" position to use as flashlight. When plugged in, turn switch to "on" position to use as emergency light which the flashlight will only turn on if there's no power.

Cons:
- Only one brightness setting.
- Will not function as nightlight but it'll be too bright for that purpose anyways.

Overall this is a great product and well designed. The product I receive matches the current picture on Amazon, which is different than the ones posted from older reviews. I've only used it for a few days but will update post if I find more pros/cons.

I really like this little light. The light runs for a very long time on a charge (not sure how long because I've never run one down all the way even after using it for several hours). It has two features I really like. One is that you can set it on the low setting and plug it in aimed at the floor or ceiling and it makes a really nice night light. Since we have small children we leave these in there rooms and one of them has been running continuously plugged in for two years and the bulb is still working fine (another has been running about 1 year no problem). The other feature is the main reason I originally bought them is the emergency light feature. Turn it to high and when you plug it in the light turns off but if the power goes out it provides emergency lighting for a big area around where it is plugged in (depending on furniture, etc.) and of course it makes it very easy to find your flashlight when the power is out. Buy a few of them for the cheapest and most versatile little emergency light system I have seen.

It works! I love it! It has a really fast charge time (the first time you use it you must charge it for a full 24 hours). It is compact in design and it also has the foldable prongs so if you're not using it you can easily store it away safely. Also it's very lightweight, the LED light has a bluish tint to it and it shines very bright. It is awesome for reading at night, walking your pets at night, or walking to your car. There are three settings that you can have the light on: (on) which leaves the light on permanently until you turn it off, nightlight mode which will still charge it as well , or just charging . I have not had any problems thus far with this product and I highly recommend it to someone who is looking for an inexpensive flashlight that can also double as a night light .

No more tripping over furniture in the dark when your power goes out; These lights turn on as soon as the power goes out (if you have that mode selected) or may be used as a standard always-on night light. If you plug it into the top outlet, you still have plenty of room to use the bottom plug. Plastic, but very durable. After fully charging overnight, the battery in mine lasted, with no discernable dimming, for 6 hours, and I still had usable light even after 8. You can get these at the mega-marts for under $10, but with two day free shipping for Prime members, this is an awesome price. I'll be buying more, one for each room.
