As a Police Officer for nearly 18 years now, and just about all of that time spent on 2nd shift, in the same Beat, I have had many flashlights over the years, but none have compared to the versatility of the Microstream from Streamlight!! This has been my favorite flashlight, Hands Down!! It has very good output for its size and one of my favorite things about this little light is that it takes a AAA Battery, instead of 3 or 4 of those little watch batteries, or some other off size battery that is difficult to find. The "S" Clip is also a Great addition to this light!! I can clip it on my pocket and take Reports at night, or clip it on my hat when walking through the woods looking for a lost child. I also use it to search under seats of cars or in tight spots. It is really great for finding fingerprints on windows too!! I have also accidentally ran my through the washing machine several times over the past couple of years, and it keeps going, and going, and going...Whenever a Rookie Officer is assigned to work in my Beat with me on a daily basis, I always buy them a Microstream as a "Welcome to the Hood" gift, and show them how useful this light is, because I know that they will get as much use out of this light in their career, which is just beginning, as I have got out of it during my career, so far...I Highly recommend this light for anyone who is looking for a small, versatile, reliable, powerful, little light!! Oh...something else that I have not seen anyone else mention yet...I believe that all Streamlight Flashlights come with a limited Lifetime Warranty, which covers everything except the battery and signs of abuse!!

I've had this light for about a week. I bought it with the intention of leaving it in my backpack (a smaller replacement for an aging mini-maglite). Well, the maglite is still in my backpack- the streamlight stays in my pocket. It is small and lightweight enough to be carried un-obtrusively. I'm amazed at how bright it is, and everyone who has seen it has wanted one. Great product, great price.
Update- six months later- still love it, probably more now than when I wrote the initial review. I use this daily, for so many things it's really hard to describe how functional this light really is, it's great!

I really like this light. It is compact and can be worn in a front shirt pocket like a pen and has a "pen" clip for this.I actually wear it in the right corner of my back right pocket again taking advantage of the pen clip and it does not interfere with taking my wallet in or out.
It has a very, very bright white light which you can use with a momentary push of the on/off button on the end of the light (like a clip pen) or turn it on continuously by fully depressing the end of the pen.
It is a well tooled piece of equipment with a flat black metal finish that while not coarse is not slick either so is easily gripped and handled.
It uses a single AAA battery and has a reportedly long battery life.
I have not exhausted the first triple A battery yet despite using it often in the last month plus I have had it.
I really like it and plan to purchase one for both my son, daughter and father.

I bought many LED flashlights over the years, often skimping on the price and buying some knockoff from the E..y auction site only to have them die on me after a month or so. In the end, it cost me a lot more to buy cheap gear than to buy the right thing from the start.
This is a great little LED flashlight. It is BRIGHT, usable, solid
and good construction. You won't go search and rescue in the woods
with it but you will enjoy this one around the house or around the camp
when outdoors.
Note: it IS very bright and projects light at a surprisingly long distance. A month ago a transformer blew up in the electrical pole
over by my neighbor's house (The poles are in the back yard here).
When the electrical company came by, I just used my flashlight to show
them the busted transformer from the street (the next door house,
over the house at the end of their back yard which would be at least
100 feet from where I stood).
Highly recommended!

This little light is outstandingly bright for its size. I carry this with me everyday and it is surprising how often a little light like this comes in handy. I cant say anything negative about it. 1 aaa battery and your good to go. Its about the size of a sharpie marker cut in half. I thought it was a little expensive for its size but after seeing the light and testing it on my now half blind eyes and in a dark room I am very satisfied with this product. I bought both Stream flashlight 66118 and 66318. Both are near perfect. To my requirements, they are perfect. I have been using both over a month, average 10 minutes per night, and the amount of light still brightens the path completely. 66118 has 24 Lumens of light power where 66318 has 20 lumens. But you cannot tell the difference in amount of light-clearly. 66118 runs on two AAA batteries and 66318 runs on one AAA battery. Streamlight 66318 is almost half the length of 66118, diameter is the same, light power is almost the same. 66118 comes with a holster, 66318 comes with a neck lace.
The manufacturing quality is perfect. Black aluminium. Over a month usage, I carry them everywhere in my pockets and no signs of deterioration on finish or color.
I highly recommend both any of these if the job is not extremely demanding. I am fully satisfied with Streamlights, especially 66318 since it is half the size, easier to cary in pockets, and with one AAA battery has almost the same light power as 66118.

I've had it for about 2 weeks now. Notice some sligh paint wear as it rubs on my knife. Light is much brighter and weighs less than my old gerber that the microstream is replacing. The on/off button is sometimes doesn't depress all the way on the first attempt. ( i think because it's so new the button is pretty tight still). Clip is very strong and battery life seems to be good. Would recommend this to others looking for a small EDC light.

Love it! I'm a nurse and it makes my neuro assessments much easier. The light it emits is bright and unlike any other penlights I've used. I felt totally pleased the other day when a doctor asked me if I had a penlight on me, proudly gave this one up and she and the team were so impressed, that they were asking to keep it. So for any of you medical providers out there don't hesitate to get it, you won't be disappointed.

Recent developments in LED technology are very promising. LED's are an economical, super bright light source, that draw less power, and have a much longer life than incandescent lamps. Although LED's do degrade slowly over time, they will still produce decent output for a long, long time.
The Streamlight 66319 MicroStream flashlight utilizes a single high output LED as the light source, and powered by a single AAA battery, produces a very bright and intense beam of light, nominally rated at 20 lumens. Beam spread is rather narrow, and not adjustable. The flashlight provides good general illumination for short distances, and has the kick to reach quite far.
The housing is weather resistant anodized aircraft aluminum, with a rubber sealed on/off switch at the top. Gently pushing the switch, temporarily turns the light on. There is a metal clip which is attached to the screw on cap with the switch, and if you are not careful, the clip can scrape the finish of the housing when the cap is screwed off or on. Putting a layer of tape around the housing, where the clip touches the housing should help prevent damage. A nylon lanyard is also included.
Conventional alkaline batteries usually hold their charge for a long time, and so they are a good choice for a flashlight that is mainly used for emergencies. The downside is that alkaline batteries can leak, and the acid can damage or destroy the flashlight's contacts or switch. Using rechargeable batteries, you can avoid the leaking problem, but most rechargeables do not hold a charge for very long, and you run the risk of not having power when you really need it.
This is a very powerful and well constructed flashlight, that at only 3.6 inches long, is convenient to carry and use. Unlike some other models by Streamlight, the lens is flat and less exposed to danger, and power is provided by easy to obtain AAA batteries. If you want a slightly longer version, take a look at the Streamlight 66118 Stylus Pro, which uses two AAA batteries.

I've been carrying flashlights for years in my edc. This, this damn light has ruined me! LOL I've spent all this money and effort to find the perfect pocket torch and then this thing comes along.
Absolutely fantastic light. Does it last forever? No. But its AAA batteries so who cares. It does last a long time though and I keep AAAs in my truck and around the house so if it dies i just pop another one in and I'm off. LOVE THIS LIGHT! About to buy another as a backup in my go-bag.
As you can see in the pict, mine is well worn and still going strong.
Love the hat clip option too.
