This punch is a must for metalworkers. It helps make a small depression that holds granules when soldering. It creates a place to help a drill get started in metal. Glad I purchased one.

I use this to punch out hard steel pins in firearms that would normally require a pin punch and hammer to get out. I've had it for about a year and it's worked every time.

For years I've been using the tip of a screw (or a nail, or anything else sharp I could find) to mark centers for turning blanks (all types of turning projects must start out with accurately-marked centers for safety and efficiency). Then I saw a YouTube video of a master turner using one of these, and it was time to get one. Instead of having to pound a screw in several times until the center mark is the correct depth, now I can tap the center punch once--or even do it by hand (without the hammer). The inside spring creates an adjustable-depth mark (after playing with it for a few minutes I found the proper adjustment settings for my work style), and I'm ready to make some shavings. Great tool.

I didn't know I needed one of these until I had one. So much easier to center-mark your holes for drilling with one of these, as opposed to a static punch that you hit with a hammer. I was skeptical that this little springloaded gizmo would actually make a mark in mild steel, but it certainly does the job, and does it well. I don't have a more expensive name-brand version of one of these to compare it to, but I see nothing wrong with this one and no reason to dock any stars.
And I've been impressed in general with the Tekton tools I've ordered here on Amazon. The price is always right, and I haven't had anything fail on me yet that wasn't my fault (note that I'm a garage hobbyist, not a professional, my tools see light use). I'll keep buying until they give me a reason not to.

I use this as my cigar punch. Works great...much better than a guillotine cutter and easier to use than a standard cigar punch as this is small enough to use on just about any ring gauge. My next punch will be a pocket one with either cap or retractable punch so I can keep it in my pocket. (a small Phillips screwdriver works well too :)

Simple but effective. This Punch tool has spring action in the tip and a very heavy hearty body that has ridges to ensure you get a good grip on it. Makes punching holes and marking walls/materials much easier for repair, construction and installation around the house or apartment. I've already used this to install shelves & put up paintings. This feels like a solid tool with a great build quality, and for the price cannot be beat.

Works fine I tried it on a plaster wall and it made a dent right where I needed it to start my pilot. It's a good tool to have when your hanging stuff especially if you want it to be precise not that that always matters but... Yeah it's really nice solid brass good grip and I not as loud as I'd expected but it does what it supposed to do it works for me.

If you're looking for a good priced center punch - punch your ticket and get this one. It works as described, and does what it should be doing, very well. It leaves about a 1.5mm deep indentation to start your drill bit or screw. This is a fairly early review - I've had it for about 2 months and used it for about 100+ punches and it's worked great.

Worked perfectly. Used it on my bronzed sliding door to install screw in insulation. It easily created a indentation for the drill bit and prevented the drill bit from wandering and scratching the metal.

This Automatic Center Punch works great. I previously had a spring-loaded center punch in my EMT holster to act as a window breaker. This leaves a pronounced dimple in various materials to keep a brill bit from 'walking' away from the site of the hole to be drilled.
