This filter will fit most Craftsman® & Rigid® brand vacuums (1988 to present brand, 5gal+), however because of the variety of these vacuums, please contact us through your Amazon home page for assistance if you are unsure or have any questions about our filter fitting your vacuum. 
The dimensions of the filter are 8 1/8" high with an interior dimension of 4 3/8" and an outer dimension of 6 1/2". 
Rigid® brands of vacuums will require a reversible cap which can be purchase in addition to or separately from the filter and is a one time purchase. Craftsman® brand vacuums should already have the cap and wingnut required to install our filter. I have been looking for replacement filter for my 4 hp wet&dry vacuum cleaner, prescribing replacement filter by Sears
#17816. Either it is not carried or not available for months, by Sears who sold the item. Tried this after market filter after many 5 star reviews from customers. IT IS A TIGHT AND PERFECT FIT ON THIS OLD MACHINE, DOES NOT RELEASE PARTICLES ON THE BLOW SIDE LIKE MANY AFTER MARKET FILTERS DO. This manufacturer has done a very good replacement product.

Greetings all - this filter made me hesitant to try it since it was so inexpensive, but yep, it's just like the Craftsman "red strip" filters, just cheaper! Works great with drywall and a flooring project - lots of dust, but doesn't seem to slow it down at all.

I generally only write reviews if a product exceeds my expectations. Well, this is one of those times. I was skeptical about the product because of its very low price, but because of the many positive reviews, I went ahead and ordered the filter and filter cap for my Ridgid wet/dry vac. Wow. I ordered the products on Friday and they were on my porch on Monday! They fit perfectly and I only have to order the filter alone from this point forward. If you are skeptical, don't be. This is truly a great product with great service for one third of the prices I've seen. You won't go wrong. (Be sure you order the filter cap on your first order if you have a Ridgid. From then on, you only need the filter).

Cheap. Works well. May have actually improved suction, since my old filter had been used about 10 years. Hey, I'm cheap. :)

The Craftsman/Ridgid Shop-vac generic Replacement Cartridge Filter fits and works great for this old Vac I use in the garage. The price I paid was much better than replacement ones from Craftsman. By the way You don't need the Craftsman/Ridgid Shop-vac generic Replacement Filter Cap when used with a Craftsman Vac unless you lost the old one. Maybe It is required with the Rigid vac?

This filter was the exact same size and fit perfectly onto my craftsman shop-vac (16 gallon). Much cheaper than the craftsman brand filters. I'll be buying more of these soon!

Replacement filter fits my Ridgid WD06350. Sticker on Shop-vac says it will take VF4000; VF5000; VF6000 filter. I was hesitant about ordering this filter, because it was such a good price. Didn't need to worry, because the filter works like a charm. Very happy with purchase. I just reversed the filter cap, and it fit.

Great company and message (google them). Filter arrived packed really well and I found the quality to be excellent. There's another filter that fits my craftsman shop vac for $50, I can imagine how it could be $45 better.

If this fits your vac, buy it, you won't be disappointed.

Not a replacement for filter 17884. Seems like a good quality filter, just not the right size for my vac.

I bought these filters for a Craftsman shop vac and they are a perfect replacement for the OEM filter. As other reviews have noted, you don't need the adapter plate on Craftsman vacs. The filters seem well made and the shipping was prompt.
