I am a very careful shopper when it comes to my tools. I did the homework and this is the best drill, mine or others, that I have ever used. I am an electrical control specialist and I find myself needing to drill, bore, assemble and disassemble system configurations in all types of material. My step bit hum through steel with ease and screws obey my commands. Concrete melts to butter and pilot holes are true. One review said that this might be overkill for the weekend warrior but I'd disagree. This kit has the versatility and lasting power that any tool guy could ever ask for! There are two things that I need to point out. First, the power needs to be respected. Know that these tools have so much power that they might surprise you if a bit gets jammed. The second thing is you should always keep the charger in an obvious place. You will use it so infrequently that you might forget where it is.

I researched every option that was available in 20v combos and let me just say that it was a hard choice. I finally went with this combo. After burning out the motor in my old dewalt 18v impact(7yrs old) I had to upgrade.... WOW! Go with this combo. For the last three days I've been installing 1-1/2" cedar planks as siding using the impact driver. I started with a fresh battery the first morning and drove screws all the way through till mid morning today before i had to swap batteries. 2-1/2 days on one charge! About 2000 screws. I haven't had a chance to really put the drill to the test yet but in regular use it seems to peform much as i would expect.
This combo is probably overkill for the or casual user but for pro's this thing is awesome.

My ten year old Dewalts were just about goners. I bought these on Amazon for $175 less than Home Depot (and they were newer models)! The impact driver is a lightyear step up in driving screws, so far i've installed several furnances, and tight off angle, agrivating screw jobs are done with ease! Having both these drivers sure makes hanging boxes, repairing the RV, sheet metal screws in holes, blinds, you name it, easier.

Dewalt has come a long way. I used to use them for the job all the time but they had quality issues, so I went to Milwaukee and Bausch, Now Milwaukee is foreign made and I no longer care for the quality.
Dewalt is quite the tool now, very powerful and long lasting battery.

I had a 10lb 19.2v Craftsman set that after 6 years of solid use, couldn't go through 2 of the rough cut 2x4s in my house remodel. The power and length of charge these things retain is RIDICULOUS! and I mean Ridiculous. That drill rips through a 100 year old piece of rough cut with a Milwaukee hole hawg bit like it's chewing through cold butter. THEY JUST WORK! I have never had or wanted to buy a dewalt tool, but since the purchase of this set, I bought my brother the same set as a house warming present, and am confident that he will use these for the next 10 years.

These things are freaking awesome. I'm definitely a review type person and did my research on these bad boys. I've read complaints about not being able to register online for the warranty, it took me nearly 180 seconds to do so, oh my gosh, so hard. It comes with a carry bag, does anyone actually use them? Lol. I bought the bit set as well and oh my lanta I'm happy.
I had my eye on the price for quite some time. If you put an item in your "cart" Amazon will email you when a price has changed, hence me checking on the items every so often. They were up to $349.00 and when they dropped to $299.00 I bought them, little did I know that the very next day, 5/18/16, they would drop to $289.00 :( oh well, very pleased with the purchase thus far!
The impact driver beats having to twirl around a tire iron, screw that! It took me 4 minutes to change two tires. That's including the jack and stands. HHHHYYEEAH! Impressive to say the least.
I received these in the mail yesterday (Amazon Prime is by far worth it).

This was a good $60 cheaper than the next cheapest set I've seen. I've beaten the impact to hell with work and home projects, yet it refuses to even show any signs of weakness. The build quality and superb battery life should justify the cost to even the most skeptical buyer. Sure you can purchase a cheap Ryobi/Ridgid/B&D set which will do a similar job, however a single one of these batteries will last longer than both of the Ryobi's (personally experienced this). When you finally do need to charge, it won't take nearly as long as you expect. For a worker in a commercial setting, these 4 amp/hr batteries are a must (you can get away with the 2.0 amp/hr with light use) and for the weekend warrior the 4.0 amp/hr batteries are a godsend in case you forget to charge them from your last use. NOTE: I like Milwaukee tools as well, however this beats the comparable Milwaukee set by the smallest amount

This is an amazing set of tools. I spent a lot of time researching high powered cordless drills along with the 1/4 inch impact drivers. After reading a lot of reviews here on Amazon, as well as several years of professional experience with DeWalt tools - (I ownded a high end custom cabinet and furniture business) I decided to go with this set. I'm really happy that I did! The power is amazing. I have the 18 volt Ryobi set that I purchased from Home Depot. It works fine and I've used the drill and impact for several months. They both leave a rather cheap feel in the hand which is not surprising because they were cheap! But they do work well. The DeWalt set excell in the feeling of quality and precision. Loads of power! I think the brushless motors add to this impression along with the added efficiency and extended battery life. The drill/driver includes a full metal chuck which bites down tite and spins true. I had read another reviewer which complained the chuck wobbled. I believe he must have been mistaken - more likely the tool he had installed in the chuck. The drill chuck spins very precisely. With no wobbles. The impact driver has three included LED lights that are very bright and helpful. Shinning directly on the work being done. This is a fantastic set. The included DeWalt XR 4.0 batteries are amazing and offer tons of power and great run time. Only the DeWalt 5.0's can out perform the included batteries. These batteries include the very cool LED fuel gauge which will tell you when your pack is getting low. If your researching a new set of cordless tools - a drill/driver and a impact driver - I would highly recommend this set! I'm completely happy and impressed by the power and quality!

If you want power this is the kit. I have used the drill/driver for several home projects, the batteries last an incredibly long time. I am switching all of my power tools to the Dewalt 20V series. I love being able to switch the batteries between tools.
The impact has a lot of torque. I had to remove old fashion balusters from a stairway that used lag bolts, this wrench removed about 100 bolts in about a half hour.
Batteries charge very quick - I purchase a couple of the 2.0 Ah batteries in addition to the 4.0 that come with the set.

I run only Milwaukee tools personally, (got burned by dewalts old 28 volt drill and the companies lack of customer service) but bought these for the company I work for to see if dewalts brushless would compare to Milwaukee's FUEL line. These definately compare well to the FUEL line. There are some things I prefer on the Milwaukee (adjustable torque settings on the impact driver, DeWalt is not adjustable unless variable trigger), but there are things that are better on the DEwalt (Lights on dewalt light up tip of drill bit or driver attachment much better than milwaukee. I have been working in crawl space so that has been a pretty big deal. Overall I will still prefer Milwaukee but these tools have made me at least consider future dewalt tools.
