Here is the deal about these cans. I got the 5 gallon and the 2 gallon for mixed gas.

When you really look at it they are not that much more than the cheap polyethylene crap with the B.S. CARB compliant trash they try to pan of on us as a nozzle.

The funnel on this can snaps on and off and if you cut a whole just in the right place, you can stick the gasoline pump nozzle thru the hole and fill it w/out removing the funnel..
You can make it a one handle operation just open the spring loaded lid and stick the nozzle in thru the hole. you can let go of the cans handle then, the nozzle keeps the thing open.

**[ see customer images for the hole]**

The other hack that I think improves this already great product is I took some 1/4" hose and cut six 2' pieces and split them long ways.. I then mixed up some epoxy putty and rolled it up and stuck it into the hose in the slit. I then pushed that epoxy filled chunk of hose on to the bottom bead in six places then I mashed and pinched it real well so that now the can doesn't sit on the concrete.
This makes some pretty good feet for the can.

The reason you really need this can, besides the quality, price, durability and Made in USA is the SAFETY OF YOU AND YOUR LOVED ONES!!.

If you stay with those plastic cans you will go thru them and pay for several of these cans anyway so don't be a wus.

YOU WANT THIS CAN, .... YOU NEED THIS CAN.

In hurricane season when a storm is on the way and you need to store extra gasoline in your garage, it is much safer to use a 'safety' can like this one (rather then the standard red plastic ones you get at home depot). Made of durable metal with a self closing lid, this can makes us feel much better about storing gas under our roof. It comes with a funnel to make pouring easier, but to put the gas into your tank you will probably need an additional funnel (we bought the Plews Utility Funnel with Screen, that is made of metal with a flexible spout).

I prefer to use the Eagle brand gas cans for my gasoline. These cans are well-built and are made in the USA.

The "Eagle Type I" 5 gallon can follows the new emissions laws but does not sacrifice functionality. The steel is very nice and will be durable over a long period of time. I am happy with the quality of the tank overall.

Many people are complaining about the plastic handle that is used to pull back the spring loaded, sealed cap. I do not have any complaints because I think the plastic is heavy and should withstand the test of time. It is not a cheaply made plastic component.

The design of the tank it interesting with the plastic funnel as the spout. It took some adjustment when using the spout to pour into my lawn mower and my smaller tanks to mix gasoline for 2-cycle engines. In order to fill the gas can you are also required to remove the yellow funnel. Eagle built a metal screen into the tank opening to prevent debris from contaminating the gasoline. I think this is a nice feature and it still allows the nozzle of the gas pump to fit down into the tank for filling.

I do not see any quality defects in design or workmanship with this gas can so I gave a 5 star review. I personally use this can to keep fuel for my lawn mower and gas trimmer (which is poured into a different gas can for 2-cycle oil and gas mix).

WARNING: with the new style of gas cans, vapor pressure can easily build up inside of the can. Before filling equipment be sure to pull on the handle to open the tank and release pressure. If you do not do this then gas will spray out of the can!

The funnel works great for filling just about anything. No gas on your shoes, alleluia. I have had every plastic gas container known to man, and they all have one thing in common, failure at some point in time. While they may hold gas and not leak they all do something no one talks about. If where you are storing your fuel becomes hot like in summer, the can will balloon, the gas will expand and spew everywhere. Talk about a hazard of epic proportions depending on where stored. At the minimum everything around the can is gas soaked forever. The smell stays a long time and ruins everything, and of course you dont have any gas left. With the Eagle, you pull the lever, which lifts the cap releasing pressure, tilt can and poor.

With the metal Eagle cans the gas does not escape. No mess. No house going up in flames. Your insurance companies investigators don't come asking tons of questions on why you were storing gas cans at your home or workplace. The said investigator does not turn you into homeland security for storing hazardous materials. Homeland Security does not link you to Al Qaeda. In short you dont make the news. All that avoided by simply buying a metal gas can.

Like the fact they are made in USA. Price matched competitor, Justrite. I bought one of each to compare. Major difference is Justrite has 10 year warrentee, Eagle's is one year. Nonetheless, I ultimately bought 6 eagle 5 gal gas cans and one justrite. The eagles are wider and shorter and easier to fit in a small car trunk or on storage shelves. I also discovered that you can insert the factory yellow funnel in the eagle spout and let the spring lid close against narrow side of the funnel. It holds it in place securly allowing you to transfer gas from old plastic can into the new eagle nicely.

The ergonomics of the eagle are far superior to the justrite in terms of function. Eagle has been around for over 100 years. When I called them about the warrentee differences, the rep just said " this is a family owned company and we have been here for well over 100'years, if you ever have a problem, just give us a call". That assurance caused me to purchase 5 more eagles. Ok, i will trust, based on a phone " handshake"...... Thats the way things used to be... At $3.80 per gallon for gas, the container needs to be reliable. I can't think of a more reliable product then one made buy americans. Note to all, pressure builds up in the can. Make sure you pop the top to release the pressure before you put the funnel on for pouring (as the can sits on level ground ) to avoid unexpected spray while pouring. I am excited to have this product and the companies assurance they will back their product, hopefully beyond their stated warrentee.

Tom'recent posting warrents some additional helpful information.
Tom, here is the fix to the spout leak. I bought 6 eagles in the past 2 months. One can leaked when i tipped it after filling at the gas station before i put it im my trunk. I found that the inside of the rubber gasket on the lid had over spray from the red paint put on at the factory. This red over spray created a leak ( imperfect seal) when i closed the lid. All you need to do is unscrew the flat head screw on the inside of the lid, pull the washer and gasket off and flip the rubber washer over so there is no red over spray/ paint on the rubber. Put the non painted rubber side facing you and washer back on and screw the flat head back in. That cured the leak. Not a big deal. Eagle are you listening???

Are you tired of the crappy gas cans at Home Depot and Lowes? Are you tired of not being able to pour the gas out of the can properly? Then BUY THIS ONE. It pours and it works. Finally someone has gotten the message the new "moron" cans do not work. In fact, they never worked. But this one does. For my use I don't even really need the funnel. The biggest flaw on this can is it's inability to hold the funnel in a good spot. But that is a small issue. The can functions unlike every other one on the market today.

After reading a couple reviews that said this was flimsy steel and cheap plastic, I was a little hesitant to purchase this. However, I took the chance and am glad I did. I want to say first and foremost, this is NOT flimsy steel and is of solid construction. The spring mechanism for the handle that raises the cap is also very well made and I have no concerns about that. Also, after filling this the first time, the funnel feature is REALLY handy. You pull the handle back to disengage the cap, insert the funnel, and let the cap rest on the funnel to keep it in place (it stays in place very well). The funnel works great and made no drips when filling my lawn mower. My only minor gripe is that I wish the can had a feature to stow the funnel on it when not in use.

For todays world, this is a good product. However, I think its use came about by the foolishness of the EPA. I used to be able to buy a excellent gas can made by this same company for less than $10.00. Two of these were close to $100.00. The EPA has to go, before we are all broke and poor, very poor.

Well made and easy to use. The funnel slips right into position and is easy to use. I previously had the can with the fexable goose neck, wick started leaking after 15 years. I prefer this style can.

This is a great gas can. It does not have those stupid "Environmentally correct" spouts. You just squeeze the trigger, and the gas pours. Moreover, the metal construction makes for a much more durable product.
