I purchased this product because I have several of the new plastic 5 gallon fuel cans. The CARB regulations for fuel cans are ridiculous in my opinion. I spilled more fuel due to these idiotic mechanisms than I ever did with traditional cans. Not to mention they are SLOW at dispensing the fuel! (OK, enough ranting about how government regulations always have unintended, and mostly detrimental, consequences!)
I modified the spout so that it would fit into the unleaded-size gas tank hole found on all vehicles. I wanted a spout that would dispense the fuel at the highest rate possible into the gas tank. I had to buy the "Water" container spout since I live in Maryland (land of "there is never enough government control over your daily lives!"). I bought a cheap long-nosed plastic funnel at Harbor Freight Tools. I cut off the long tapered part just above where it widens out so that it's diameter at the top was just a bit larger than the EZ Pour spout's diameter. I wanted the end of the EZ Pour spout to fit inside the top of the funnel spout.
I then cut off the end of the funnel spout at the point just above where it tapers down. I took the funnel spout and attached it to the EZ Pour spout with black electrical tape. I also used the tape at the joint of the 2 pieces of the EZ-Pour spout because it leaks, even when they are screwed in tightly. What I ended up with was a spout that is quite long, which allows you to stick it in the gas receiver of the car prior to tipping up the gas can. It dispenses the fuel into the car at a high rate and 5 gallons is poured in about a minute or less. Try that with a CARB nozzle! The cap from your old CARB nozzle will likely fit on the end of the funnel spout to prevent fumes and gas from leaking out of your gas can.
The kit comes with a vent hole cap which is very easy to install. I used a 1/2" brad-point drill bit so that the hole was cut and the waste material stayed outside of the can. Make sure you don't leave any bits of plastic in the can or else you'll have to filter them out when you pour from the can. Once the hole is cut, just put a little glue that isn't affected by gasoline around the vent fitting and press it into the hole. You may need to pound it in with a rubber mallet. If you go to the EZ-Pour website, they have the glue you need. They also have adapters for some older steel cans, such as Eagle. I've outfitted all of my new and old cans with EZ-Pout spouts, even an old "Jerry" can! The only one that I have that EZ-Pour doesn't have an adapter for is the Sears 2 1/2 gallon can that takes a 2" cap.
The EZ-Pour site also carries hard caps for cans. These are the same size caps, but have no spout hole. If I had it to do over, I would buy only one nozzle kit and buy hard caps for all of the cans. It's a lot cheaper and you won't have a lot of spouts sticking up, taking up room.
I now have 5 five-gallon cans outfitted with these nozzles and I couldn't be happier about it. Filling my lawn machines and vehicles has gone from being a huge Pain In The A$$ using the CARB nozzles to an easy process. I never spill gas now as opposed to spilling a lot every time I used these unholy pieces of crap CARB-compliant nozzles. (Just ask me, and I'll tell ya how I really feel!!)

If you are willing to overlook the warning that these are only legal for gas cans made prior to 1/1/2009, then you will have the perfect replacement for the mandated "No-Spill" spouts that in reality wind up causing more spills.
Get these while you can, expensive, but worth it.

This pack is so good, I bought a second one for another gas can. I'm using these to replace the junky "EZ Pour" spouts that just break and/or cause more leaks. This set works great on my two red Blitz cans. It comes with two differently-threaded lock caps. The yellow has wider threads than the black. The set I got had white tubes, but I really don't care what color they are/were. The endcap is threaded and even has a little plastic wire that you can hang it on the tube or something, when you're pouring. The extension tube has internal threading to screw onto the end of the normal flared tube. I just threw these in a box elsewhere, as I probably won't be using the extensions.
THE KICKER to this project, that I didn't even realize it has (it's obviously in the picture, though) is the little vent cap. You just drill or cut a hole in the rear/top of your gas can and pop this baby in. Now you have a vent to relieve pressure after a hot day, or to get good airflow to prevent gurgling when pouring at full speed. Why anyone would make a gas can without a vent in the first place is beyond me.
A bit expensive, but still cheaper than buying a new can.

I was about to trash one of my 5-gallon plastic gas cans because I lost the old filler spout and lately all I could find were the new EPA approved non spill spouts that close to keep vapors in. Problem is those spouts don't work for my lawn mower and because I'm arthritic the ones with the grip release makes it cumbersome to use.
These universal free flow spouts are just like the old ones and come with two spouts and two collars so you'll have the perfect fit for virtually all makes and types of gas cans. It also comes with vent caps for those cans that have them.

I purchased these to use with new Midwest 5600 5-gallon gas cans. Today's EPA rated gas cans are stupid beyond belief... at least these spouts avoid frustrating spills and needing multiple hands to simply pour gas from a can into a mower or generator. I also recommend the Ez-Pour replacement caps, allowing you to completely seal up the cans while in transit or storage.

I am so fed up with the fedGov interference of my gas cans. It holds flammable contents, that could catch fire if spilled out. I get that. Now piss off.
Because of the uber control police I've purchased these for my gas cans and they have performed flawlessly and leak free. I enjoy that they come with breather valves and tube extensions so that I can get more flexibility in my refueling.

Just what I needed to convert, er uhhh fix my 'old' gas cans to a high flo spout. Less spills than those newer cans with the crazy spring loaded spouts. This is not a kit of two. It has two different nuts for different threads, the spouts screw together if you want a long one. Even has a new 1/2 vent plug in case you happen to need one when you 'fix' your can.

Love the high flow. Won't fit into a car or truck fuel neck. I use it for putting diesel in the tractor and other equipment. I live in California and purchased a 5 gal can at the home store and the crazy no-spill spout would take almost 5 min to dispense 5 gals of diesel into the tractor (no kidding, I timed it multiple times). This gets all 5 gals into the tractor in under a minute.

I got this to try to improve the 5 gallon gas can the I recently bought. Since I live in PRC (the Peoples Republic of California) the sate has decreed that all of the gas cans have to have the weird anti-spill spring loaded spout. The spout actually works pretty good for filling up lawn mower or chain saw. If you have ever tried to stand on top of a bulldozer or tractor and dump several 5 gallon cans into a big tank the anti-spill spout is horrible. Not only does it take forever but you have to balance the can so that the little ear that keeps the spout open doesn't jump off the filler edge. This Hi-Flow spout is awesome. Between the spout and the added vent the 5 gallons of fuel drops into the equipment in less than a minute. If you don't want to wait you can just prop the can up and come back when it is empty. The two kinds of threaded rings fit every can I have regardless of the manufacturer.
