These are the nicest clamps I've ever had! They are quick and easy to use. Can be applied with one hand while holding something together. The clamping force is very strong. I've been using a pair of these for the last year or so in my new workshop and I don't know how I got along without them! It's like having an extra pair of hands to hold pieces together while drilling holes and putting in screws. I just got through putting together a workbench using the 4X4 Basics Work Bench Kit and a set of shelves on it with the 4X4 Basics Shelf Links system. I never would have been able to get it all together without being able to use these clamps to hold things while I drilled and screwed pieces together. With the rubber caps on the clamping faces I didn't have to worry about marking the finish on the pieces either like the old pipe clams or big C clamps would. And they are a lot easier to apply and remove one handed which is very difficult to do with pipe clams and C clamps.
Before building my workbench I used them while putting together a 10'x10' Barn Style Storage Shed from a kit that I got from Lowe's. These things helped so much I got almost the entire project done by myself only needing help standing up the walls and decking the roof. I also used them when building several sets of shelves with the 4X4 Basics Shelf Links for my shop and storage building. And even for that these held things together for me while putting in the screws. (I used screws for almost everything that was usually done with nails) After a year of use they still work flawlessly.
I like them so much I had to order this 4 pack. Now that I got them my only complaint is that I didn't order 2 packs of them instead of just the one! Since I'm retired after being a machinist for over 25 years I have a thing about quality tools, and that's what these are. They are well made and work like they are supposed to.
I highly recommend these clamps for anybody's workshop.
UPDATE 11/2/12
Well, now that I'm getting into using the workshop I spent the last year building and tooling up I'm now ordering another 4 piece set of these clamps. I forgot to add before that I was a little worried about these being made of,, you guessed it, plastic. But the four piece micro clamp set and the 2 piece 18" pair I got have held up under the heaviest use and the most clamping force that I can put on them. Which with my big hands, & since I'm 6'4" and 240 pounds I have pretty big hands and a very strong grip, so I can put a LOT of force on clamping these. I think they would even hold up if you used one clamp to squeeze down the clamp on another one. So again I can highly recommend these for anybody that has a workshop. Anything from your kitchen table to a small area in a back room, or a closet in a bedroom turned into a work space, or a full basement or garage workshop, and up to a full sized manufacturing company with a building covering 10 acres. Like the Halliburton shop I worked in in Duncan Oklahoma back in 1981 to 83. You need several pairs of these!

I am the owner of several Irwin products and am quite pleased with the quality.
Seeing these on Amazon prompted me to make the purchase. Some people may shy away from purchasing these clamps because of some plastic but these clamps are extremely sturdy should last a lifetime if treated properly.

I just recently started getting into woodworking and carving, so I need to build up on my clamp selection.
I had seen a friend use a couple of these and they seemed pretty pleasant to use, so I figured I'd give them a try.
First, I was pretty surprised by just how well they held their grip. I thought perhaps they would be a little wimpy since they didn't involve threading, but the ratcheted design cinches down pretty securely and the ease of their release is pretty great. Definitely for a bit lighter duty, but fantastic for holding a few edges together long enough to glue/screw them more securely. I would say that for the first real project/test I put them to, they surpassed my expectations, so they get a solid 5 for that.
I'm not sure if I would need more than 4 of them in my work shop, but for light, smaller jobs, I reach for these pretty much every time over the bulkier clamps. They have an excellent niche that they fulfill quite well, so don't expect THE PERFECT CLAMP for every situation out of them, but they are REALLY good for certain situations.
Just like pretty much any specialized tool.

When I bought these clamps, I was concerned by some of the reviews and online feedback about the build quality and durability. I bought them anyway because the price was much lower than my local big box hardware chain.
After several months of moderate use, I can say that these clamps have worked exactly as needed and have presented no issues at all. The trigger mechanism operates smoothly and allows you to get a lot of clamping pressure on the item. The rubber pads provide a good grip while preventing the clamped object from being marred.
The clamps are easy to both close and open one handed. There is a little trick where, when I am already holding something down with one hand and need to widen the clamp with my other hand before starting to work the trigger, I can hold down the release lever and give the clamp a little downward shake to cause the rod to open a bit.
When you press the release lever on a tightly engaged clamp, it takes a fair amount of pressure to release and there is a loud snap as clamping tension is released. I am a little concerned about how this may impact the longevity of the clamps, but after months of use, I have not noticed any denting or deformation that would be cause for concern.

I have used these for almost every project I have done, from half pipes, to climbing walls, to boring things like decks and shelves. Using two of these to lock down a 48" t-square to plywood, to make a guide for my circular saw, helps me make the straightest, most precise rips that I have every done. Great for locking something down when drilling and bolting or screwing it together, let alone for gluing!

I have been a woodworker for over 30 years and these are some of the easiest clamps to handle, versatile, easy to both clamp and release. One can never have too many clamps and of various sizes. Great Price - fast shipping. It just doesn't get any better than this! Even the small ones have plenty of strength.

I have had a variety of Irwin's clamps for many years and they have always performed reliably.
I recently purchased this set of four 6" to increase my inventory, and I am delighted the style and quality has not changed.
These are great clamps.

These Irwin clamps are the best thing since Betty White (who has been around longer than sliced bread).
Anyway.. I use these for EVERYTHING, and this was such a good deal, moneywise, that I couldn't pass it up.

Love them, super cheap, can never have enough clamps, I bought 2 sets of 2. At this price should buy more. Now these are not the super strong ones, but they certainly seem to be strong enough for most any needs.

I've owned dozens of these, as well as similar "off brand" clamps, for almost 10 years. These are much nicer to use, and have greater holding power than the knock-offs - as well as being much sturdier. I've had about a 50% failure rate with the knock-off clamps - as for the Irwin clamps, I have had 1 "break" before - the cover fell off the mechanism. It still worked fine, however!
