I was really pleased with the overall quality of this product with only 1 exception. I wish it had 4 stakes instead of the 2 that come with it. It would really secure the base to the ground (there is a hole in the base at each of the 4 corners) as the twisting of the unit towards the areas you are watering tends to "loosen" up the stakes over time. Other than that the pluses are:
Handle is closer to the top than many other units allowing you to wind up the hose with less bending over
Hose winding is extremely easy with the even distribution of the hose over the reel.
Ready to use as it only took less than 15 minutes to unpack, secure, hook up the lead hose from the faucet, put on the 100 foot garden hose and wind up ready for the first use.

I am really glad I went with a hose guide that had the smart track system. After reading several reviews, I purchased this product over other cheaper reels because of the smart track system. It is so easy to reel the hose in after using it, the hose doesn't ever tangle. I even have a few different hoses connected to each other to make one long hose, and the hose fitting goes through the opening just fine. I will probably eventually secure it to my concrete patio because I have quite a bit of hose in it and it is heavy, so when I try to pull it around the corner of my house, it kind of drags the box with it instead of it staying put.

We've had the non-swivel version of this for years. It finally bit the dust and I saw this one and gave it a try. This works so well for the location we have it in--always glad to make a smart purchase.

I have been window shopping for one of these for a long time. With the huge price range I was torn between paying the premium vs the low end. After doing extensive research I settled on this product. So far I must say I am quite happy with the purchase. The design and color schemes blends perfectly with our home's paint/trim. The plastic feels sturdy, here's hoping it can withstand the harsh Midwest winters. The smart track system is worth every penny. I have a 150ft heavy duty never kink hose installed and it does a very good job of pulling in the hose without input from me, other than the cranking. To get the hose out you simply pull on it. The crack handle is plastic but feels sturdy enough. I will update the review if I have problems. The unit was actually quite lite which made me worried about it sliding around, we have ours on a concrete patio so it is not staked down (stakes included x2). However, with the hose installed it weighs the unit down well enough. Our area gets quite windy with patio chairs flying around but this unit doesn't move. The swivel base is a neat addition but I only use this hose for our garden so I don't really use the swivel much.
I will update with if anything changes but so far this unit is worth the price.
UPDATE (05/16/16): The unit is still holding up quite well. I have noticed 2 minor issues. The hose connection point inside the unit is made of cheap feeling plastic. It hasn't cracked yet so here's hoping for not anytime soon. My problem is leakage at this point. There was always a little dripple at this point, enough to have a pool of water at the base of the unit. After adjusting the connect about 5-6 times the leakage had finally stopped.
Second minor issue. Most of the time the hose comes out real smooth with little effort. There has been a few times it seems like the hose is stuck requiring me to yank on it. This makes the unit slide around in our concrete patio.

My wife is the primary user of the garden hose (to water her plants, flowers, herbs, etc. etc.) and she complained on a regular basis that wrestling with the hose was the biggest annoyance of caring for the lawn. We had used a hoop attached to the house (best I could say is that it kept it off the ground) and a cheap big box store "winder" that was more trouble that was worth (tipped over EVERY time you tried to pull the hose out, was terrible actually winding the hose, etc.).
Now my wife comments nearly every time she waters her plants about how easy it is to extract and "rewind" the hose. It also looks MUCH nicer beside the house. It doesn't tip over when she pulls the hose out and the swivel feature works pretty well (doesn't need to turn much to get coverage for the area she uses).
I am now a hero for finding this and ordering it on Amazon (I know I'd be more of a hero if I also watered the plants, but I'll take what I can get)!

I now have 2 of these hose reels, and I love them. I'm a guy who has purchased several cheaper reels in the past, and have been disappointed EVERY time. This thing looks good, coils the hose perfectly, and is very solid. Staking it into the ground is probably the second best feature it offers (after the reeling mechanism). I love that I can crank away quickly and it doesn't move anywhere. Again, it is on the spendy side, but you won't have to buy another one again. Highly recommended.

Setting up is ez cheeze and I have only one good hand. Nuff said about set up.
I hooked up a 5/8" 50 foot hose and it barely fills the hose spool. It sits on a concrete patio ( no anchors used) and as long as you pull the hose evenly at a steady pace, it does not move the unit; it may swivel a bit on the base but that's it! Out here in the Calif desert, the sun eats hoses for breakfast! This should solve that problem nicely :) Inside, it has a hose guide that moves along a geared spindle so that as you pull out the hose and later retract it with the handle, the hose is uniformly wound evenly along the hose reel. I have never had a unit with this feature and it is very cool! I have run it through its course a dozen times so far with zero leaks and no movement issues. I will be sure to update this post if I have any problems.... so far I Love this!

I review very few items. Only when I am very impressed or very unimpressed. In this case, I must take the time to speak highly of this product. I have been a home owner since 1979 and have had pretty much every type of hose reel including the self-rewind kind. Most have been okay and some very cheaply made and others just plain hard to both pull out and crank in the hose. The self-rewind unit (which uses the water flow to rewind the hose) was okay but the hose connection broke and no amount of Gorilla glue would fix it and it was expensive. I purchased this "Hose Guide" May 20, 2014 and have been very pleased. We pull out 150 ft of hose to reach the back of our yard and it is amazingly easy to just drag the end. After 100-120 ft of hose it is still tracking and feeding the hose easily. Rewinding it is also surprisingly easy with its guiding track. Some people mention the swivel base - mine is on a hard surface (paving stones) and has shown no need to be secured either permanently or with my foot. I was skeptical when I purchased the unit since I have had so many and never full satisfied. Although a little pricey, I think it worth it.

Product is awesome. Comes assembled. Just connect and go. The feature of having the hose role neatly is a real benefit. Good solid construction. Will be interested to see how it holds up in the AZ sunshine/heat.

This is a great improvement over my older Suncast Hose Hideaway. It's several years old and still works fine, but the swivel and stackable features make all the difference in usefulness. When I unreeled the hose from my current unit, the Hideaway would drag along and I always had to unreel it by turning the crank and pulling the hose out as I went. Long process, hard to do, and not a fun chore. It did serve to hide the hose so it's not spread or coiled all over, and that was its purpose.
The new unit is staked to the ground so it does not move when you pull out the hose. It swivels in the direction you are pulling so there is much less resistance, and the gear ratio must have been changed because it is much easier to reel the hose back in.
