Is this the best crimper on planet Earth? No. Is it the best crimper you could possibly buy for the price? Quite possibly. The value of this kit is unbelievable. I have made about 20 crimps with it so far, and have had no problems. The included tester feels kind of like a McDonald's toy, but it works well and has saved a significant amount of time for me in checking each connector. The connectors themselves are cheep. If this comes as a surprise, please consult the price above. However, they are fully functional despite what they lack in beefyness, and for the price its functionality is really the only thing that it can be fairly judged by.
If you are a network pro, you should know better than to be looking in this price range for tools. If you don't plan to make 100 crimps per week, this is the tool for you.
10/10, would buy again.

I was skeptical after reading some of the other reviews about the crimper not working very well and feeling cheap since that was the main part of this package that I wanted, but after using it I couldn't be happier. I have put together numerous types of wires and cables before but this was my first time doing a cat-5 cable or any network type cable, so I looked up a quick instructional video to make sure I knew what I was doing and didn't have any problems. This package is great especially at this price it just makes this deal amazing (if you need this type of crimper). The cable tester was nothing special but functioned well and the fact that it splits apart came in handy since one of my runs was 25 ft. from attic to office. And even though it's pretty easy to tell when you have a good connection I went ahead and used the tester anyways to verify since I had it. As far as the wire stripper goes it is nothing fancy but it works well, I would recommend that you be careful on rotating the stripper around the outer sleeve of the wire. You won't want to keep spinning it around too many times or it will cut a little into the inner wires, but if you rotate it enough just to get through the outer sleeve it works fine. The bag of connectors, well its just a bag of connectors and they do what they are supposed to do (I had no issues but also didn't expect too) and there is 100 of them so that should be more than enough to practice a few times if you want before you run the wire for real.

The crimper is actually not as large as I initially thought it would be! On top of that, the stripper and crimp heads are all perfectly fine and dandy, I don't get why so many so called "technicians" are saying this is cheap crap. Literally this is no higher quality than buying another crimper rebranded with a TrendNET logo or anything else. It's definitely not a fluke networks tool or anything, but for a quick $15 replacement, with 100 connector ends and a stripper? Heck yes!

After reading all of the negative reviews, I thought I made a mistake buying this. Let me tell you. If you take your time inserting the wires into the connector, this crimper works perfect. Did 12 connections as soon as I opened the package and every single one came out perfect. And the bonus tester also worked perfectly. Very satisfied. I highly recommend this.

I purchased this kit to make some cables for my use at home. An almost full box of Cat 5e cable from my daughter's boyfriend spurred me on. I read the reviews and decided to take a chance on this set. Some of the reviews cited the crimper's teeth not aligning properly when crimping the cable into the connectors. Based on this, I ordered another crimper...just in case. I'm very happy with my purchase. I was able to use the cable and crimp the connectors without any problems at all. Being a novice, I watched a few YouTube videos to familiarize myself with the process. YOU DEFINITELY NEED TO DO THIS. The first few connectors took me a while, but after a few attempts, I got pretty good at it. The Cable Tester isn't fancy, but works just fine....it helped me troubleshoot a few of my initial attempts at crimping the wires in the correct order successfully. A great product for the money, and the crimper I got works just fine. I returned the other crimper, which cost as much as this entire kit.

Crimper: Great. No problems so far. Don't feel as sturdy as some of the ones I'm used to; particularly the cutting blade part... but still a great crimper. No issues with it.
Cable stripper: Eh.. it's plastic and not for heavy use but; it actually worked on standard CAT5 cable, which was kind of surprising to me.
Cable Tester: It's a cable tester. Will test runs way longer than you should make them (400ft+), so I have no complaints. LEDs on both sides are nice too!
RJ45 plugs: Yep, they're that. Cheap but work fine it seems.

Works great; no need to spend tons of money on other name brand crimpers. I've ran thousands of feet of cable over the last week and these have functioned great.
Excellent value for the price. It is Apple certified so it does not give those annoying error messages and it works just as well as the OEM cable.
Highly recommend.
**I received this item at a discounted rate in exchange for a fair, honest and unbiased review. I only buy products that my family and I will use. I only give a 5 star rating when the product is excellent. I base my review on durability, material, function and if it meets the description given by the seller. If I feel that I can't give at least a 4 or 5 star rating then I contact the seller and try to resolve the problem or explain my difficulty in giving them a really good review. Sometimes I feel like you can only say so many things about the product and my review may seem short. I am a straight to the point type of person. You can be rest assured that my reviews are not only for the sellers benefit but for the consumers looking to purchase said product as well.**

This little connector kit is ideal for making custom cables for work or home. I got tired of the "standard size" cables that I was using because they were all too long and it didn't look neat to have all the extra rolled up and hid behind the desk. The tester works reasonably well for my needs.

Exactly what I wanted for my small project and at a price I could afford. Had my Cat5e cable equipped with plugs in no time. Boy those sure are tiny wires you have to correctly position if you want to your cable to work. Take your time, do it right. Hope you don't have a shaky hand or poor eyesight.

OK, first let me say that the 5 stars is given while taking price into consideration. I have been working with computers including IT & networking since 1996 and have worked with many products and tools in that timeframe. I owned & operated a computer resource center in NY for 10 years during that time and made many patch cords and line drops. Now you know a bit of my history....
I purchased and am using this for my home/personal use. To be honest after reading the reviews I bought it simply to get an inexpensive tester and figured the crimper was to be tossed (based on other reviews). As soon as I received this I used it to make lines for a new router and to add 2, 4 port switches to my network. I wanted to be able to give a full review of this set so I used only these items and not tools or ends I already owned. I found each and every item in the package to work as designed and without fail. This includes the crimper. I made many cords and never had to remake one or to recrimp one due to it having a poor or weak connection end.
I fully admit that you can buy better quality tools/items at higher prices but for my home needs and usage this kit performed perfectly and I would recommend it to anyone. IF you do not know how to make the wires or if you are not positive of the lengths of the strands or where the shielding should end inside the plug, google images of the proper way to do it. IF you fail to get the ends all the way in or put too much or too little of the shielding in the end to catch it right on the crimp then it is not the fault of the tool when the wire does not work or comes apart. I am not saying that this is what anyone else has done BUT I have seen (1st hand) many people make these wires incorrectly and think it is the fault of the tool or material when it was actually poor workmanship on the makers part. Even the very best of tools and material is limited to the makers skill level and patients. And while this kit is far from the best set it is a perfectly fine set especially at this price.
One last note as I know many have and will ask.... the G on the tested is only going to light up in you are using a shielded (Grounded) cable. IF your cord is of lesser quality (not shielded) then it is normal for only the 1-8 lights to turn green and the "G" to NOT light up.
