Update as of 2/6/15 Originally both battery and charger went bad. Did online search to find out Milwaukee has an issue with 12V battery run in the past. Went to the local Milwaukee service center in San Diego on Clairemont Mesa Blvd. Incredibly helpful service. Got the battery and the charger replaced after filling out a brief form and out the door. I own many 18V Milwaukee power tools and never, ever had a problem with them, but it is nice to know that Milwaukee will stand by all of their products with minimum hassle to there customers.

I have nothing bad to say about this drill. Its power will surprise you!. This thing has no trouble drilling though smowblower housings and commercial riding mower frames at all. It has a two speed gearbox with an adjustable clutch that can be locked for drilling. The front LED light might seem small but it does a good job of lighting up your work area. The trigger has a variable power output which makes it easy to keep things under control while using the tool. The fuel gauge makes it easy to keep an eye on the battery life.
As for the chuck that comes with the drill, that also get five stars. It really locks down the bit and even has a ratchet mechanism to keep the bit tight. The chuck is also all metal. Everyone else seems to use plastic on the chucks cover or "grip".
The handle has a nice feel to it. It fits my hand like a glove and has plenty of grip. As for the battery life. I can't comment on that because I really don't do allot of drilling in my line of work. I'm a small engine tech, so when I need to drill something its usually a broken bolt or screw or to install a weight kit on a snowblower or ride on mower. However I bought this 2407-20 drill/driver along with the 2462-20 1/4 inch hex impact driver. I use that impact driver everyday, I usually get about 3 days on a full charge with the regular M12 battery. With the M12 2.0 battery I can get just about 5 days from one charge.
I'm not using the impact gun to drive screws into decks or fences. Just to disassemble and reassemble machines and small engines. The largest nut diameter I have removed with the 1/4inch impact gun is 9/16. But the average size I use the tool on is 5/16, 3/8 / 10mm and 1/2 inch.

I happened on to this drill/driver offer while I was looking for a complete drill/driver package to purchase for a friend at Christmas. This cost of this bare unit was so low that I couldn't pass it up. Since I have extra battery packs and chargers on hand, it was a perfect solution.
I have the smallest drill/driver that Milwaukee sells; I received it as a "free gift" when I bought another tool and figured it would be something else I would cast aside. However, I very quickly learned that this was the most used tool in my set. The combination of high power, light weight and small size makes it perfect for so many different tasks.
This particular head is a bit larger and offers a standard chuck. It is more powerful and weighs just a bit more, but works beautifully in those instances where I must use something other than a hex-shank, quick-change bit. I like these tools and I've never had a moments trouble with them... I do recommend them, particularly for those DIY'ers that need something versatile. I'm very satisfied.

This is my third Milwaukee M12 Drill. (Still on my first impact, although it gets much more use). I'd LOVE to give this 5 stars. But, like I said, I am on my third one. The first one stopped working after 3 years, heavy use. I'd have given it 5 stars. The second: purchased off amazon for $40 from a seller "Naturally Nature". After just over a month (about 10 pounds worth of pilot holes for deck screws, among a few other uses), I heard something break/snap internally, and the chuck would not provide enough torque to keep spinning when held with two fingers. Emailed naturally nature, and they sent me a new one, without having to send back the broken one, no questions asked.
The other one arrived 3 business days later, and I immediately bored 6 or 7 holes with a 1" paddle bit and put as much torque on it as I could (nothing more than would be realistic for my uses). Should be good to go.
BOTTOM LINE: I'm in construction. If it's a drill that you can find at a box store, I've used it. The M12 line is what sits at my house. Not the Dewalt 18v series, not my Bosch lineup (which are both great). "But it's only 12 Volts"....... If you can find a job it won't do, I'd LOVE to hear what you were doing. It's better ergonomically, the batteries are cheaper, charge in 30 minutes (MAX), lightweight, and a wonderful SET to own. Unless you already have a bunch of tools that require a certain battery, get this. But more than likely a drill will be your first cordless power tool, so why not?

Milwaukee makes great power tools. The batteries seem to last a long time, they're tough and they get the job done. I had previously purchased the matching hammer drill which came with a charger and two batteries. Rather than spend all the money to get another "kit." I just purchased this bare drill and the second battery slapped right in. Now, I have two great drills that last all day and charge quickly.
I know every loves their favorite brand, be it Dewalt, Bosch, Makita, Porter, etc...but for me...Milwaukee has yet to let me down. If you're going to start making the investment in power tools...I'd start here.

These Milwaukee 12v power tools have all the power you need for any home project. They are a nice compact package built solid with a great grip area. The batteries last much longer than my old 19.2v Craftman drill and is much more powerful. Hands down the best I've ever owned!

five stars for the strongest and best made 12v drill i have ever used ( dewalt, bosch). i am an electrician and this drill has what it takes for construction, and light weight for more delicate jobs at a price that cant be passed up. very happy and havnt had any problems so far with power. it goes with my m12 fuel impact perfectly.

Have owned various cordless 3/8 drills from Craftsman, Hitachi, Makita and others in both NICAD and lithium configurations. This is my favorite because of both size and power. I bought it initially to replace my 5 year old Ryobi 12v I used in the bike shop where I work part time. I have since taken it home and subbed it out with a bulkier Craftsman impact driver. The Milwaukee has so much more power and is easier to use that I prefer to have it at home than at work. Love the metal chuck and one handed tightening or loosening of bits. Bought an aftermarket battery from Amazon and it has functioned as well as the stock battery included with the purchase. Battery life with the smallest 12v lithium is nothing great, but they charge fast and can be used with some of my other Milwaukee tools.

I own five Milwaukee cordless drills, three M12 models and two M18 models.
This M12 drill/driver is the perfect entry level drill for DIY and the home handyman.
Personally my favorite M12 Cordless drill is the Milwaukee 2404-22 M12 FUEL 1/2" Hammer Drill/Driver Kit but if you don't need 1/2" Chuck or hammer drill features than this 2407 drill will be perfect for you and is considerably lower cost.
The chuck on the 2407 is much improved and smoother than it's predecessor.
The battery grip is slightly more ergonomic and the built in belt clip is a nice feature if you're not using a drill holster.
Overall this drill has enough power and torque for most DIY projects and the compact size is great.
The two speed transmission and slip chuck allow you to easily set up this drill to be used as a power screwdriver or drill.
If you need more power or hammer drill features then check out the 1/2" fuel 12 Drill or this 3/8 Hammer drill version

I have several Milwaukee M12 tools and I am very happy with their performance and ease of use. The batteries stay charged for a long time, even in the summer heat of Phoenix. The bare tool seemed like a great value since I already have several of the batteries.
