This stapler is well-designed and well-constructed. All hand contact areas are covered with black rubber material for comfortable use. The stapler's operation is smooth, and the handle is a "low stroke" design which reduces hand fatigue. I found it easy to pull, and was able to fire the stapler by squeezing using just two fingers. The stapler's body is made of "Aircraft Aluminum", so it is strong but lighter than the classic steel-bodied stapler.

Near the front of the stapler there is a "staple size / reload" window, which lets you see what size staples are currently loaded (1/4", 3/8", 1/2" or 6mm, 10mm, 14mm) and whether the stapler is almost empty.

At the front of the stapler there is a thumb wheel which flips the wire guide "cable tracker" down, or up and out of sight. This is a U-shaped piece of metal that protrudes about 1/8" downward from the front of the stapler. It is useful when stapling wires or cables. It shows where the staple's points will emerge (so you don't pierce the wire), and it keeps the front of the stapler from crushing the wire.

At the base of the stapler's handle there is a simple wire handle lock. Squeeze the handle closed, and then engage the handle lock. This is useful for storage, especially if you want to return the stapler to its original hard-plastic packaging.

At the rear of the stapler there is a switch to control the "High-Low Power" feature. You'll need to experiment to determine which setting is best.

I used this stapler for a challenging upholstery project. It smoothly drove 100+ staples into hard oak, without a single jam. I used Stanley-brand staples TRA04T 1/4-inch and TRA06T 3/8-inch; this stapler can also use Arrow-brand staples.

If you are stapling into hardwood, and the staple isn't going all the way in, it might be the fault of the staples rather than the stapler! Consider what size staple you are using. If you are stapling through one layer of thin material, then you should be using 1/4-inch staples, not 3/8-inch staples. In this situation, a 3/8-inch staple won't drive completely into the hard wood and its legs will buckle instead. But a 1/4-inch staple is relatively stiffer and will drive perfectly. If you are stapling through two layers of thicker material, then 3/8-inch staples are the better choice. Staples are inexpensive (but see below), so buy a variety of sizes and experiment to determine which size is best for your project.

If the staple is not quite all the way in, you can finish it off by tapping it with a hammer. But observe carefully -- if the staple is protruding a lot, its legs will buckle and the hammer will flatten the staple rather than driving it. In this case you'll need to remove and redo this staple. A staple remover comes in handy.

One note of caution -- staples are available for purchase here, but as of this writing they are available only from third-party sellers, so their shipping will exceed the price of the staples themselves.

I use this at work for stapling insulation, plastic sheeting, radiant barriers, etc., and have used thousands of staples with it. I only recall one jam ever, which was easy to clear. This stapler is also lightweight and very quick and easy to reload. Like any stapler I've used it takes a lot of force to squeeze the handle, and after stapling all day my hand does get tired, but this one seems easier to use than others. The construction feels very solid and it seems very durable. I highly recommend this if you want a reliable, lightweight, and easy to load stapler.

Already fell in love with this since I was able to use it to upholstery a really yucky looking used chair that husband brought home. It was a little too stiff for me to trigger. When it fails, I just use a hammer to ham it down.

I am petite (5'2" and 113 lbs) and do not have large hands. I've also never used a staple gun before, and ordered this off Amazon based on the reviews. This staple gun was extremely easy to use straight out of the box. Clear instructions and very easy to load. I reupholstered 8 dining chairs using this gun, and my hands did not feel tired or strained. Very few misfires as well (and all the misfires were due to user error). I would highly recommend this product.

I purchased this stapler/brad nail gun at the same time that I purchased the Stanley TRE550 electric version of it. I really wanted the electric version, but this was my backup. It turns out that this drives the staples better then the electric version so I am glad that I ordered this one. (I just revised and reduced my rating of the electric version.)

I can be more precise in my placement with the electric version. But this manual version will drive the longer 1/2 inch T-50 staples all the way in. Which in comparison, the electric version has a problem with staples longer then 3/8 inch. And it is the longer staples that I use the most of.

There is a switch for high and low pressure. And like any manual stapler, it takes some force on the handle to use this stapler. But not any more force then any other manual stapler.

I've had my Sharp Shooter Plus for a short time but after more than 2000 staples it has not jammed. If you use the manufacture recommended staples and brads you may not have a jamming problem. The manufacture recommends Stanley TRA 700 series or Arrow T50 staples.

You can easily adjust the force of the brad nailer/staple gun with high/low adjustments. It also accomodates brads ½ to 5/8 inch and staples ¼ to 9/16. It's solidly made and has a good balance in your hands. Mine is actually yellow in color which make it easier to find. There's also a cable/wire guide to assist you in stapling down cables/wires.

I (highly) recommend this tool for your tool box. Uses would apply to screens, signs, upholstery, insulation strips, holiday lights, cables/audio/wiring systems, framing, canvas art, radiant barriers etc. I am an avid DIY'r.

A very good stapler! Very comfortable grip and lever.
Upholstered entire couch (~1000 staples) and my palm doesn't hurt at all!
And this isn't something I do every day, it's actually my first couch!
+ I love the little window where you can see the staples!

So far, so good- It looks, feels, and works great. This is a great buy for the quality of the Heavy duty stapler than what I have seen in my local stores. I was wondering about the negative reviews but decided with Amazon return policy, why not try it out and if it sucks return it, because it was at a really good price for me.

I am happy with my purchase. And so far, it has worked great... although I had to read the instructions on how to insert the staples (not as intuitive as I thought) the staples go into the lower chamber upside down and then you slide the chamber thing closed.
If issues arise down the line, stuff that other reviewers mentioned (like not working any longer) then I will be back to update and eat my words of praise. :)

It arrives in a sealed plastic clamshell. So the most annoying thing about this tool is opening the packaging. Other than that it is - insert staples- set the depth (hard + or soft-) and you are ready to go.

I can use it with one hand stapling plastic sheeting onto the ceiling joists, beams and rafters for the project at hand. Just hold the nose flush (level/parallel/flat) to the surface you are stapling. If you are angled or away from the surface, I have found the staples will not drive in (as with any stapler that is not the air-gun type).

It is very easy to use. Well made light weight aluminum. It's not heavy on the wrist, but your palm should be at the farthest end of the lever for ease of stapling action.

This can be used with staples, such as what I purchased Stanley TRA708T Sharpshooter 1/2-Inch Leg Length Staples, Steel (1000 Count) or with wires brads. It says it uses Stanley SharpShooter TRA700 series or Arrow T-50 heavy duty narrow crown staples and 1/2-Inch, 9/16-Inch and 5/8-Inch Brads.

Happy with my very utilitarian purchase.

I'm a lady, and I love tools! I bought an electric staple gun thinking it would be easier than the regular silver manual guns we all have laying around.....but it wouldn't pierce plywood. I was skeptical at first about this one but figured I'd give it a shot. I'm sooooooo glad I did! This staple gun is comfortable and easy to use. It had no problem going into plywood the first try and I didn't even have to apply my entire body weight for pressure lol. I'm building a queen sized upholstered headboard and this staple gun has saved the job! I'm already planning my next project to use the staple gun with!

Top notch stapler. Before buying this I had purchased 2 other staplers at a similar or higher price in store. One only shot two staples before it got bunged up, the other wouldn't go through particle board. This one has lasted through my entire upholstery project so I'm quite pleased. Sturdy, and works on particle board. I wouldn't consider buying a different brand or model after using this.

After all, my wife and I have gone through close to a dozen hand-held pruning saws during the 20+ years we've lived on our property. Those pruning saws always cut well when new but seem to get dull very quickly. With their close set, needle-like teeth they're also difficult to sharpen - and I've sharpened regular saws using saw sets and files. Each of those new hand-held pruning saws have cost us $20 to $25!
